Well according to the lore, a couple of hundred Custodians were sent to finish them all in all there were about a couple of thousand Thunder warriors left by the time the Ararat incident happened. I imagined the Companions, the 300 were chosen by the Emperor to draw first blood, although they had to be covert About it at first. 3-4000 thunder warriors split up into manageable 1000 man divisions seemed logical.
Another great video. Making the Thunder Warriors sound more gruff, deep and savage, while the Custodian spoke properly, and through the vox speaker of his helmet (as the Thunder Warriors MK1 power armor didn't have that) was a great touch. It combined with the rest of the dialogue adds very good contrast to help drive the point home that the Thunder Warriors are what they are, savages, barbarians that are hard to control, and why they must be killed off for it so that humanity may move forward. Same goes for the Dark Angel. Also, showing how out of league the Custodians are to the Thunder Warriors, even when greatly outnumbered by showing reaction time from the Custodian and the Thunder Warriors as event occurred was very impactfull. Only criticism I could think of would be the Dark Angel himself, as (from what I know) they would have not even been known as the Angels of Death at that point, but just as the First Legion, and he would not have wings adorning his helmet, as it would not be apart of the legions culture at such an early point. The Legions acquiring different names and performing cultural based modifications to their armor would come later on in the coming crusade for all of them, but this early, they more or less would be rocking unpainted, unmodified armor. At least as far as I know, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong, I get all my lore second hand of UA-cam, Fandom wiki, ect. Over all, another great video. This one seems to be getting popular remarkably quicker then your other videos (2 days so far and already at 1.5K), looks like people are finally starting to discover you. Kinda ironic in a way, you do a video talking about the events leading up to the launch of the great Crusade (a great event of expanding) and your channel may be about to do the same from how popular this video is. Isn't this always the case? What great power doesn't throw away their tools of war, good men and women after they fulfilled their purpose? The Vietnam veterans? The returning soldiers of the Iraq war? The useful idiots of every revolution? All cast aside, or rallied and shot into mass graves. History repeats itself over and over again throughout the millenia. This was no different from the event that happened before. Only the actors have changed.
Because the thunder warriors were mentally and physically unstable, were prone to falling to delusions of grandeur, and were lining up to become independent bloodlusting warlords in their own right.
It's hilarious that he disposed of the Thunder Warriors. They were perfect, absolutely ideal anti-Chaos Marines. They, doomed for being "unstable" are replaced by Astartes who have flaws like Blood Thirst, madness, geneseed taint, and are led by madmen like Konrad (without primarchs, good luck generating more). Half of these primarchs and space marines fall to chaos/the warp, and for all that, are weaker in general, unable to easily dispose of Orks or Tyranids, whose weaker bolter weapons struggle against Necrons. Had he stuck with the Thunder Warriors, the imperium may not be "better" but it would be a lot safer from external threats.
The thunder warriors were about as versatile as ork nobs lets be honest. Cool yes, but spread out in the galaxy and devoid of crayons to eat they would just murder everyone and call it compliance
@maltheri9833 At the time there were more than 10k. He lost a huge number of them in the war in the web way. He also doesn't need to necessarily keep producing them in such quantities, but culling them was unnecessary. It likely fed into the paranoia of the SM that helped fuel the HH.
@@banneduser5187ummmmm.......what was it the astartes were doing again during the great crusade? Lmao horus admits to nuking over 200 worlds into "compliance".....before he drank the kool-aid.
The thunder warriors were about as perfect as the death company of the blood angels. All they can do is fight. You can't teach a thunder warrior civility, or expect them to cope when then there is no more war.
How have I forgotten to comment on this yet?! I'm going to hand-wave the lore-errors and just say that the opening: "I raise my fist and behind me a thousand marching footsteps suddenly come to a halt," is one of the best opening-lines to a 40k store I've ever read.
KILL TEAM HUNGARY did a great job in setting the scene for this battle that's for sure. I'm always willing to overlook lore in accuracies in community fiction. It's the story he wanted to tell and I'm all up for that 🙂
I watch this video often. I love the Thunder Warriors, i see them as old broken down PTSD ridden war fighters who have been fighting for years with insane deployment cycles. Loyal, honorable, but the years of combat stress and their bodies breaking down due to the Emperor making them fucked up on purpose as we find out in the Outcast Dead. I see myself in them, quite a bit. A broken down former war fighter trying to make it in life. They were the most human of the Emperor's warriors, and were betrayed by him and tossed aside. Great video, thanks for this
So,... A warrior's death is to be betrayed by your king at the exact moment you secure his final victory. Just one more reason to hate the emperor and his Custodes.
Just discovered this: wow, just wow! Excellent work. Everything is great, from the script to the lore to the voices, sound effects etc. Super impressive.
Loved this. Reminds us why you don't fight the Emperor's Legion. Thunder Warriors, Astartes, Primaris or even Grey Knights don't stand a chance. Ave Imperator
Your work is amazing. Been one of my favorite warhammer channels since I got into the lore. You, a border prince, the amber king, Baldemort, Oculus...a few more. You guys make the experience immersive and palpable. Give it the breadth and the depth it demands. The quality is praiseworthy and appreciated.
i do like how this reminds me of the simple truth. The Imperium was a rotten nightmare before it even reached Mars. no foundations. Nothing Stable. Just a giant staircase of bones, both the enemy and the loyal, descending deeper into hell. Forever. man i love this setting.
oh, wow..one of the very first "Emperor was a shitty father" moments; could've just as well used them in the battles to come from the stars..and simply not replenish their ranks.
Problem with Thunder Warriors that they need battle... constantly. Imagine thousands of these locked up in a battle barge for months / years of warp travel...they would go bananas in a week without action.
@@KillTeamHungary I mean, if anyone could figure out a way, it would be the guy who made them, right? but their demise did serve as a plot device later on in the lore so I'm sure they were meant to end up like that for lore reasons. Great story btw, the narration and everything was really good. These smaller, self contained stories on this channel are really nice to consume. I share them with friends of mine who aren't that much into 40k and it makes them want to learn/ read/ see more.
He couldn’t, unfortunately. Proto-Angrons, minus the Butcher's Nails. Stand them down for a few months and they'd be tearing each other's heads off, as well as the heads of anybody who just happens to be passing by. He needed their instability, brutality and ruthlessness for the Reunification (techno barbarian warlords are apparently really nasty foes), but an enterprise like the Great Crusade needed more subtlety. Sending the Thunder Warriors out to invite human worlds into the Imperium, would ensure lots of those worlds would end up as charred husks. The Emperor is a colossal prick, but he was right about that, at least.
Good to know the channels being recommended now! I've got other 30k pieces on the channel 'RUST, TALES OF THE WORLD EATERS and VANGUARD'. Hope you enjoy!
Sorry to nag but afaik the 1st was not called "Dark Angels" till the Lion joined them. They have been called "Angels of Death". Thx for all your great reading!
Bet a few thousand of these chaps in stasis vaults would have been handy when Horus came to visit much later. Some updated armour and wargear and off they go in a blaze of glory curb stomping Chaos stooges.
Lol true, imagine the look on World Eaters faces when they come storming in yelling "Blood for the blood god" only to be met in the middle by bigger, sweatier lunatics screaming "Leeroy" just before getting ironed clean out with a headbutt
Not gonna lie, having the Dark Angles bring down the last church doesn’t hold nearly enough weight as the Thunder Warriors. The burning of the church was seen as savage, matching Urea’s story about how monstrous they were to all those that stood in their way. However, replacing that with the Dark Angles is at best a disservice.
@@KillTeamHungary an eye for an eye makes the whole world goes blind. I’ll always have faith in the community to make something amazing just because of the wealth of amazing fan content whether it was Hellsreach, Text To Speech, Astartes, or the good voice acting of this. The amazing voice acting and illustration of the Last Church was also glorious in its voice acting and illustrations.
@@goliath1179 oh no doubt about that. The Last Church is one of my favorite short stories of the 30K era. And about my fan fiction short story, I suggest when you hear the parts you dont like, just use your imagination and substitute e.g. Dark Angel with Legionarie. This is my version, which is also pretty good, just look at the numbers likes and positive comments. Its fan fiction, we do what we want. Unless its about female SM. Then we deserve all the S*** we get.
@@KillTeamHungary I understand that it’s your story, and this is a great opportunity to ask about it. Why was their a change from having the Thunder Warriors to the Dark Angels burn down the last church on terra? I mean, creatively it also works better with the Thunder Warriors, because like the last church, they were the final detail that needed to be taken care before a brand new age in humanity is written. Having one of their most notable actions switched out with the Dark Angels feels like an odd choice, less wrapping up all the old things in one bag and more of a new sweeping in over the old.
The quality of this is amazing! However there are some lore discrepancies. This makes it sound like the Thunder Warriors are chumps when in reality the Custodes are some of the only warriors who stood a chance against the TW in massed numbers. The TW are known for being very tough and I don't think they would have died so easily, or that there where no Custodes casualties. Would have been better to have the custodes fighting alongside the TW in the battle then at its end make the speech and turn on them, great video overall though!
Thunder warriors imo are comparible to ork nobs. Not chumps granted, but compared to custodes they aren't even remotely in the same league. If the custodes had prior knowledge of the TW cull then yes i can absolutely see them having no casualties. Rolling over 1 planet of divided baseline human factions wouldn't even impress those pathetic weebs the tau ffs
This, and so many other things he's done makes the emps more a of a villain than anything. His goal for humanity was filled with betrayal and the killing of innocents. What that priest told him is probably what he thinks everyday in that throne as he watches how humanity ironically becomes the oposite of what he wanted.
Ok so as a Dark Angel lore buff I have to state here. They where called just and I quote “the Frist” at this time. Not Dark Angels and they looked like normal Space Marines of the Legions In MkII just with a Blavk Coat of paint and silver trimmings
dear god this is so good. I always though the thunder warriors where 90% of a custodes and stronger than regular space marines almost to the same level as space marines are to humans. But it seems the custodes the same to the thunder warriors. Like they are just humans.
By the throne this is phenomenal

I imagined the Companions, the 300 were chosen by the Emperor to draw first blood, although they had to be covert About it at first. 3-4000 thunder warriors split up into manageable 1000 man divisions seemed logical.
Oddly enough ,they didn't get them all. They had to hunt them down over the years. even the First Genre Astartes had to deal with them.
As an amateur "audio-book creator" myself, this is a magnificent piece of work ! BRAVO !
Thank you and to Vox in the Void for voicing my lines
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jesus Christ this gave me goosebumps! The thunder warriors and Custodies voice is phenomenal!!
I have listen to this more times than I can explain.
The 1st and 7th Legions may be the only astartes that are not hated and distrusted by the Custodes.
Bill Murray was a Thunder Warrior? Wow. "Thunder Warrior training, sir!!!" Anyone remember his film "Stripes"? ; )
Haha! Good shout.
I watched Majorkill's Thunder Warrior lore video and wanted to learn more about the Thunder Warriors but damn
This was really cool
Thank you kindly brother! Glad you enjoyed it!
You'll be at 1000 subs before you know it. Keep up the good work.
I'm honoured you would take the time to write this lengthy response to the video. I researced the thunder Warriors last month before I even knew I was going to do this piece so had some understanding about their culture and overall aggression levels 😜 yeah I think you are right about the chapter names, I didn't write this wonderful piece and I think some leeway must be given as it is fan fiction 😏 thanks once again buddy
the fault is entirely mine. Im big fan of 40K and I got carried away writing this, so I just went with the emotional charge and decided that I'm going to let some details fly, since the tag "fan fiction" will give me a 2+ save re-rolling 1s :) If you know what I mean.
What I lacked in accuracy was made up by A Vox in the Void with his STELLAR performance.
Take this story as my person retcon to the official GW story as revenge for what GW did to the scouring of the Primarchs story...
@@AVoxintheVoid Happy to hear you got a moral boost out of it. I usually wouldn't put so much effort into a comment, but since your rather early in your channel growing faze I thought I might as well put my voice to use while it can still be heard before your channel grows so much that the majority of the comment section become to large for you to read.
@@KillTeamHungary I can't argue against the fan fiction reason, its W40K after all, so no harm done...

@@mcchicken1849 is this the same inquisition that uses daemons to hunt daemons? And forbidden Xenos tech?
Or is this another inquisition? :)
This doesn't note that the Custodes did have losses and waited to face the Thunder warriors until they had run out of ammo.
Yeh. The Custodes needed such a handicap in order to stand out.
Like the pussies they are.
Thus upsets me, how could the emperor's talk of traitors at all and yet betray the ones who gave their lives to you.
Karma is a bitch. The Emperor had the same fate. The Bastard. They didnt deserve such fate.
Thunder Warriors deserved better. Great short story, I hope for a much longer one about the Warhounds fighting the Thunder Warriors
Thanks!

I had been looking for a long time to find some quality thunder Warriors fiction! God bless kill team Hungary for reaching out!
Great video, thanks for this
The Custodes, the first Traitors.
That'd be the Emperor with your line of thinking
@@abrarsetiawan5587 He absolutely betrayed his own loyal followers.
So,... A warrior's death is to be betrayed by your king at the exact moment you secure his final victory. Just one more reason to hate the emperor and his Custodes.

Thankyou to @killteamhungary for the fantastic writing. And thankyou to you for the awesome comment
If only the Black Library author's understood that.
Grey Knights might be the closet considering their creation methods and the supposed source of their geneseed.
In lore, the custodes didn’t fight them until the Thunderwarriors had no ammo. Quite a handicap, on top of the ambush. Plus, they did take losses.
Dope, storytelling, and voice acting. Keep up the brilliant work!
All the Emperor had to do was give them progenoid glands that he gave the SM and all would've been well.
I suppose that would have been a more subtle way of killing them at least... but where's the fun in that?
I always wondered how many Custodes died executing that order.
Got work.
Damn, those stories get better and better with every entry!

Does throwing away a broken shovel once you buy a new pickaxe to dig the rocks you uncovered make you a shitty father?

No man who died in service to the Emperor died in vain.
The Emperor fucking sucks.
Its only fair, GW does disservice to the fans almost every week
@@KillTeamHungary an eye for an eye makes the whole world goes blind. I’ll always have faith in the community to make something amazing just because of the wealth of amazing fan content whether it was Hellsreach, Text To Speech, Astartes, or the good voice acting of this.

Ohh yeah... When I read this it was awsome... But this is epic!! Moooooore!!
The mad lad actually did it :)
@@banneduser5187 Well, the actual lore from 40k disagrees with you.

The Golden Age of the Imperium begins with betrayal and so it ends with betrayal.
