The name of the ship "Eisoptrophobia" is the abnormal and persistent fear of Mirrors
Not too many people know this, but Phil Collins wrote this song after witnessing Jim Davis on a beach, who just stood and did nothing while a woman drowned. Later, Collins sent a ticket anonymously to Davis, to one of his concerts. During the concert, a single spotlight shone down on Davis while Collins performed the song. I know this because I was in the audience.
Actually Jim Davis saw the woman drowning, but when asked why he didn't save her, he replied "I thought she was me"
This is the original pilot episode of "Lasagna Cat". After a legal dispute in which lead actors Garfield & Odie were not paid the full lasagna agreed upon, the leading roles were recast for Don Johnson & Philip Michael Thomas, and the show was renamed "Miami Vice".
This is actually something of a misconception- although the original pilot for "Lasagna Cat" was filmed and later discarded, "Miami Vice" had its original script written before the filming ever took place (although Johnson and Thomas were not yet attached to the project at that stage.) After the legal disputes caused the "Lasagna Cat" project to go under, several of the producers were moved to other projects- included the then-nascent "Miami Vice" script which had just been approved. While many of the ideas from the one made it into the other, the two were independently conceived and written up until the very late stages and I think it's unfair to characterize Vice as simply a ripoff of the earlier work, even if they clearly share some inspirations.
This strip was published 10/20/1984, the episode of miami vice it's based on originally aired four days prior, 10/16/1984.
@@Rhlgull1331 too bad, he's unfortunately off by a month. The pilot of Miami Vice aired on september 16th 1984, not october !
Stéphane Wawrzyniak he’s not talking about the show in general, just the episode this is a reference to
I love how their beautiful rendition of "In the Air Tonight" was picked up by UA-cam's copyright system. It sounded too much like the original.
Probably due to the synth pad and percussion sounding exactly like the original
JUSTIN ROILAND? WHAT THE HELL?
Wait was lasagnacat part of Channel 101? I haven't watched any of those in over a decade
lolomydicks I'm just glad I caught it before reading the description
"I thought it was a mirror". Only an auteur like Jim Davis could come up with something so profound, so intense.
Eisoptrophobia, the name of the boat, is the fear of mirrors. This is a god-damn masterpiece.
This has to be the greatest and grandest comeback ever, no lie.
They had to go out and actually film this with these costumes
@@thedangersofoxygen135 oh yeah because lasagna cat has the avengers budget
@@kshayes6935 you can see the green tinge around them, its chromakeyed. Its pretty cheap to do.
OH THE VOCALS ARE BY JUSTIN ROILAND THATS WHY I THOUGHT IT SOUNDED FAMILIAR
I un-ironically think this is a work of art, so many layers of clever humor and subtle genius, the near perfect shot for shot remake of the Miami Vice scene alone is highly commendable.
Yeah, but why does he do this? It is so flipping bizarre! I mean I don't like the Garfield strip either, but this is overkill.
It's brilliant comedy with skilled editing. Anti comedy. I don't normally think of comedy as art though.
@@theodore8178 Yeah I agree, I think it's anti-humor. Unreasonably high production anti-humor that has so many layers of irony it my brain hurt XD
This series has had me laughing so many times though. The classic episodes are great too
If you told me Odie was drowning, I would not lend a hand.
I am sending Nermal, air travel tonight, Oh Lord.
Abu Dhabi by air tonight, Oh Lord.
Oh Lord.
This is the kind of quality content the world deserves
MrMrMANGOHEAD I'm surprised you know the meaning of the word "quality content"
+CHARMY 9 Awesomeparodys It was dead when he started makeing them........
MrMrMANGOHEAD We Are Number One but it cuts to Sex Survey Results in it's entirety whenever they say one
To be honest, I could probably watch over an hour of this comic being slowly disassembled and analysed. That would be a fun time.
Garoompahfah The previous video is more than enough for your needs
justin roiland being involved is so perfect i have no words for it
Well, it does make sense. Fatal Farm and Justin Roiland have both done stuff for adult swim.
How is accused kidnapper, domestic abuser, and underage groomer Justin Roiland being involved perfect?
Eisoptrophobia: An abnormal and persistent fear of mirrors. Sufferers experience undue anxiety even though they realize their fear is irrational.
Also the cardboat cutout of a flying boat at 4:37 is called "Identity Crisis"
Well, since there is another world beyond the mirror, and they can reach out and snag u and pull u inside with them
But I befriended them
I help them with all of their revolutions 👏👏👏
I lost it at the neon sign in the background "AM I A DOG?" and "IS THAT ME?" on the boat
I love how moody this is. as someone who hasn't seen Miami vice, there's something beautiful about this and really sad and moving about the way Garfield talks to John on the payphone
You should watch Miami Vice. It's actually a great show and goes a bit hard in spots. Holds up well.
4:54 He hit that high note perfectly. Music to my ears.
What gun did you guys use to get Justin Roiland in this?
Knowing him, I'm pretty sure it was Justin Roiland who showed up with a gun demanding to be in this
Likely the shotgun Odie was loading. In fact the singing starts as soon as he loads the first shell.
Why am I so obsessed with this one in particular?
Over two years later, and I still things LasagnaCat’s brief return is still one of the greatest things to happen in human history.
Can we have Justin Roiland's performance separate please? It is truly awe inspiring

As a lifelong Phil Collins fan, I must say that was one of the best covers of "In The Air Tonight" I ever heard in my life...
The 9 year wait for this was so fucking worth it.
They really did take season 3 of rick and Morty in a different direction.
*i thought the picture frame was a mirror*
Boy that singer sounds familiar...
>Featuring vocals by
CALLED IT
That one boat is called "Is that me", and I remember seeing this one boat on the Canary Islands called "That's me"...
... Freaky.
As a Miami Vice fan, this is easily the greatest thing I've ever seen. The greatest.
I've been waiting for over 30 years for the perfect demonstration of this dramatic memorable iconic set of scenes ... with perfect comedy. My life is now complete! Thank you!!! :D
why are the production values so good?
That's what makes it so funny, because the only reason they create these videos is to shit on Jim David.
Because the guys who do these skits, Fatalfarm, are professional actors. They do live action work for Adult Swim, which is how Justin Roiland did the cover for Coming In the Air Tonight.
Fun fact: This strip premiered a month and 4 days after the first episode of Miami Vice premiered
This feels exactly like one of those super, super weird dreams that you have when you drink a full can of Coke at 2am. None of it makes any sense in the real world (Garfield and the pilot episode of Miami Vice), but everything is arranged in a way that seems to make perfect sense in the dream. When you wake up, you wonder what the fuck you just saw.
Jon, is what we have real?
that dude really just can do 2 voices lol
100% flawless rendition of in the air tonight. it really is
oh my ogd it's fill colons
Thank you for that accolade for my favorite portly, balding, and flatulent walking and singing enema of a former pop star.
big Phil Collins/Genesis fan who also loves Garfield here, and i wanna say this video does both Phil and the Garfield series justice.
The part where he's on the phone is just too good. Inspired work.
Stand back and witness culture's peak.
I watch this every morning. ❤❤❤
Wow, as someone who recently watched the whole series of Miami Vice this recreation of the pilot fucking killed me!
Please. I will sell my SOUL for Justin's cover of that song. PLEASE.
Now do the cafe scene from Heat, but with Garfield and Jon.
That part where he calls his ex-owner to ask him if it was Odie behind the picture frame plays so well with this scene. Realizing how a good friend who he loved and trusted confused him with the picture frame makes him wonder who else close to him has also done the same. This scene gives us the first real insight into Garfield's character. We see how much he values trust and how sensitive he really is beneath the tough exterior.
I never looked at it that way, but it makes perfect sense, great observation...
"When I looked at it and saw a dog... that was Odie, wasn't it?"
"Yeah, it was...you bet it was."
And just like that, he is a cat renewed.
The cough on the laughtrack gets me every time.
This is a masterpiece
Just found this channel, this man really recreated that whole miami vice scene. Take my sub
Watching a Miami Vice episode with Garfield characters with Justin Roiland singing my favourite Phil Collins song is gotta be the weirdest but best feelings i ever had
I wish i could like this twice
The vocals after Garfield hangs up the phone killed me. Holy cow, this one is incredible.
This video is criminally underrated
the fact that the search ID picked the music used as the real Phil Collins track is hilarious
It’s amazing how much effort this channel puts into its content
This would unironically make a great movie. Just look at that lighting at 3:33
I love how accurate the recreation is, to the point that even the background changes colors. Wunderbar
I can’t believe Justin Roiland worked on Lasagna Cat
You have to appreciate how Jim Davis in a three panel strip perfeclty condensed the pain of a sudden existencial crisis that ALL of us face at some point of our lives, and even when it finished with a "happy ending" as Gardfield realized that he was in fact not a dog, didnt freed him from his anxiety. And thats is the truth of our journey, we can get answers but that doesnt mean that we will find clousure.
god that interlacing is beautiful
I cannot believe I am just now discovering this channel. I have SO much to look forward to.
Pure genius. Inspired and creative. Please dont stop.
can we just appreciate for a moment how good miami vice was as a telvision show
god bless michael mann
This is such a perfect parody, it shot for shot recreates this scene beautifully. Miami Vice is the best
I just love how the quality and format for this video was shot. Really gives off an 80's vibe to it.
Funny little coincidence: Crockett's wife Caroline wears a similar shirt in the original scene, as Jon (in the comics and other Lasagnacat videos). A light blue polo(ish) shirt.
@@sublimeade Jon wore that shirt for the inception of Garfield, that's what I mean with "coincidence".
Will there be a third season of Lasagna Cat?
Maybe in three years from now? To keep the 9 year rhythm?
I hope one day we get a 3rd season. Even if it takes years, like the second.
remember all of that to say to Jim Davis the equivalent of Not funny didn't laugh
It switches between a Ford Mustang and a Volvo.
Also, if you look carefully during some of the frames, you can tell it isn't a real cat.
This was beautiful. Thank you
“Beautiful masterpiece” - New York Timmies
“Better than the Garfield movies...” -Rotten Tomatoes
The return of lasagnacat has made me very happy. You guys are great.
this is by far my fav one. i keep coming back to watch it. and the side by side comparison on mf channel. whoever thought of using the most iconic scenes in the pilot episode of miami vice is a fkn genius
Thank you SO much for this.
I need the full version of Justin Roiland's version of this song. Like so bad. Please let it be available for download.
i cant even begin to explain how perfect this is... speechless...
The level of content quality on this channel is astounding
This is brilliant I love the theme the whole channel is amazing
Welcome back lasagna cat I missed you so much!!! greetings from Brazil
as a miami stuff fan i can say, this is pure art.
I have no idea what this channel is but it cheered me up immensely.
I didn’t know I needed this
THIS IS THE FUCKING SCENE FROM MIAMI VICE, SHOT FOR SHOT, BUT WITH GARFIELD.
FUCKING GARFIELD
do you know what episode or where i can find the original scene?
It's the pilot of Miami Vice. Just google that and you'll find the exact scene.
thank you
Yes...its beautifulll
I didn't :P
