silicon212 You don't get the gag, do you? Back when Johnny Carson hosted "The Tonight Show" back in the 70s and 80s, he would always make jokes about how hot it was, and the audience would reply "How hot was it?"
DNQ: 46 Wally Dallenbach Jr, 52 Jack Sprague*, 1 Morgan Shepherd, 78 Gary Bradberry. That replay of Earnhardt coming into the pits at 1:41:34 would have been terrific to see in real time.
I remember that Steve Byrnes and Matt Yocum both went to Fox after TNN ended its NASCAR coverage in 2000, and Glenn Jarrett went to the now-defunct Speed network, but what became of Eli Gold aside from MRN?
no. JD McDuffie, Lake Speed, Rick Mast, Morgan Shepard, Hut Stricklin, Ted Musgrave, Chad Little are FIELD FILLERS! Ward earned his 4 wins INCLUDING the 2002 Daytona 500. but you forgot about that because you stopped watching when Dale died. oh how insecure you are 🤣🤣🤣
@@LeftyGretzky I didn't stop watching when Dale Earnhardt died ,and I also understand that ward burton won the Daytona 500 in 02 but hell Michael Waltrip also won 2 500s Derricke cope also won a 500 the restrictor plate are unpredictable alot of sub par drivers have won those races Bubba Wallace another example, you might want to question your own knowledge of nascar.
@@LeftyGretzky I would not even those that you listed there are field fillers. They all had moments and times where they were in with a shot of winning, but for whatever reason, it didn't happen. JD never raced for anyone but himself and actually had a very respectable career if you look at his stats. Over 100 top 10 finishes to his name. Hut was going to win the 1996 Southern 500, but suffered an overheating enging late in the going and finished 2nd. Rick got the pole at the 1994 BRickyhard 400 and the 1992 Hooters 500. The guy had speed but was unlucky not to win. Ted Musgrave became a truck champion and had a 7th place points finish in 1995. Billy Standbridge, Lance Hooper, Gary Bradberry, Carl Long - to name a few, these are field fillers.
RIP STEVE BYRNES & BUDDY BAKER.
I was at this race and the one thing that stands out is how hot it was in November.
*HOW HOT WAS IT?*
It was 93 degrees on that day.

EricEbac22 I'm afraid I never watched Carson in the '70s, and not a lot in the '80s either.
That's Arizona
Final win for the old Ford Thunderbird

He went to do Alabama Football on the radio.
Glenn now works for MRN
Earnhardt carried Childress for years he would have won many more races with Hendrick or Yates no doubt.
Dale's only win on the West Coast
great. thanks a lot

Ricky Craven was such a bum.
Ward burton was never anything but a field filler.

Ward hardly had equipment that was worth a damn. His loyalty to Bill Davis cost him opportunity to drive for better teams.
