The bamboo band music, as I understood it, originated in Bougainville, or the Western District of the Solomon Islands around the time the Americans were fighting the Japanese up through the Solomon Island chain during World War 2. Americans had 'flip-flops' or thongs, and these were quickly adapted by Islanders to hitting the ends of bamboo pipes. Beautiful music!
No, this music did NOT originate in Bougainville. It originated in the Malaita Province of Solomon Islands then spread to other provinces of the Solomon Islands then across to Bougainville and other parts of Papua New Guinea. Vanuatu also copied this music style...Flip flops/ thongs used for bamboo drumming were influenced by American world war two soldiers.
😂😂 does this look like a less than half a millenium tradition to you? You decide to downplay everything and point seemingly innocent arrows about them to a direction that suits your agenda.
Wow! I'm very surprised! So amazing. I know a Brazilian group (Uakti group) in the early 70 that makes percussion instruments like that (not exactly like that, but the same idea), but I had no idea about the Guadalcanal! They always had these instruments? What are the origins? Where can I research more about it? Thanks a lot for this video!

Сделаю из пластиковых водопроводных труб музыкльный струмент, сниму с ног шлёпки и научусь играть. Музыка классная!
