All older Pentax cameras feel like tanks. Have a spotmatic F myself. Although it will cause less damage than a thrown Pentax 67, it's impact can still be likened to that of a grenade. And it just won't die..
I have a question. I have the 105, 55 and 75 all SMC pentax. For some reason, with the 105 and the 75, when I stop down the aperture in manual mode, it also stops down the lens. So if my lens is at 22, I can't even see what I'm trying to get in focus because it's too dark. The only lens that doesn't stop down is the 55 - I can see a bright screen at all apertures. Do you know why this happens to the 105 and 75 but not the 55? i have to focus wide open and then fix my fstop its pretty annoying. Do you have this issue or is my copy defective? the viewfinder is only bright in all apertures if i have the lens in automatic mode once i switch to anything lower than f11 i basically cant see anything in the viewfinder its wayyy too dark. Thanks for taking the time to read/respond
Don't know about that hack of using the blank shutter dial setting to lock the shutter open for long exposures. The battery takes a heavy draw during the very short period of of exposure. That draw remains as long as the shutter is open, so if you forget and leave the shutter open, or if you just like to take long night-time exposures, you can fully drain the battery in one session. Under normal usage, the battery will probably die of old age before you discharge is though use. Always keep an extra battery in the bag! (Note that the last body version, the 67II, does not suffer this issue, mainly because it has a monster battery by comparison.)
Hahaha you know how many times I watch this video to spot check it.... I can’t believe this got passed me... I guess I need an intern haha Craigslist here I come 😆 But you’re the first to point it out! 🌟

Those are two great lenses. I’ve never tried to 90 but I have always wanted to. I heard it’s a fantastic lens. I have the 75 f4.5, which is also a really good lens.
Just found your channel and love this review - your photos are stunning. Wondering how often you use the MLU? I just bought a 67 but it doesn't have the lockup.. wondering if I should get the MLU version instead. I'll be shooting mostly interiors and landscape. Thanks! :)
Dude great video. I don't know jack about medium format especially lenses and stuff. This video is so informative and is really pushing me to buy one of these beasts.
Hey man I remember watching one of Jason’s videos and seeing that you had some issues with the 67. I have one and got a roll through it but now the shutter/mirror stay open if I don’t shoot it for like 1 hour. Was that the same issue you were having?
I encourage you to get the 90mm lens, one reason besides it being a great lens, is it has a leaf shutter built into it you can use instead of the focal plane shutter in the camera. I have both the 105 and the 90 lenses and I have 2 Pentax 6x7 bodies and handles. Definitely recommend a neck strap to prevent dropping, it's heavy. One body is having a battery issue, the check light will not indicate that the battery is working. I would be interested in knowing where you sent your camera to be worked on. Also, you have to try shooting transparencies with it, I like Ektachrome or Provia. BIG chromes that are just AMAZING to look at and scan. Also, I notice that you shot most, if not all, of your pictures vertically. Interesting. Also, definitely look into getting the meter finder, I have 2 of them. They meter the WHOLE scene, not just a zone nor a spot, and it is spot on.
I've never experienced problems with spacing fames on either of my two 6x7 bodies. But then I had both CLA'd about 17 years ago. Note that if you hold the shutter open on "bulb", you are draining your battery. If you do a lot of night photography with long exposures, carry a spare battery.
