This show just didn’t click. The performance was great, and I’ll listen to the music on its own, but I still have no idea what they were trying to do with the concept.
Itrs a bit disingenuous for people who WERE in the show to be "reacting" to it Its an analyzation. You are right however, it seems that Crown shows are tended to be on the dark (if not downright depressing) side lately, and along with the costume/uniform selections a bit colorless as well. 2024, (based on the music I looked up appears like it will be no different.

I remember seeing this show very early on in Mason, OH. When I realized the ballad was all women, it made me tear up.
