Great video. I can get four of those quiet ones for ten bucks? And I was going to take the stupid humidifier out to the garage and treat it with a sledge hammer. Before I saw this, I was looking at other units and trying to find reviews and ratings, with no consensus. And I started seeing cheapo units in "most quiet" ratings, and I started not believing it. So i'm going to give it a shot. This reminds me of all the noisy OEM fans I had in my self-built PCs before I found an Austrian fan and cooler manufacturer, Noctua. The fans are $20 each, but have both lubricated and magnetic bearings and are warranted for 7 years. This little WINSINN unit looks like I might never even need to replace the "builder's grade" cheapo put in the unit to begin with. What an incredibly useful video. Thanks, Joe!!!
Thanks for the great video. I removed the fan and when tried to rotate manually a small elastic band came out. Probably my 2 yr old has squeezed it in...After removing it the humidifier is working good...
Thank you sir! Your instructions were easy to follow and I was able to fix my humidifier. The only issue is that my new humidifier fan has a loud buzzing noise, but I'll learn to live with that. Thanks
First of thank you for this video, it really helped with disassembling the humidifier. My fan works and is blowing but the steam just still isn’t coming out. I took it out and adjusted it, but there is no difference. I got this a month ago and don’t want to replace it so soon. This all started after I cleaned it yesterday with white vinegar as recommended then I noticed that the steam wasn’t coming out but the water was still bubbling at the bottom and the fan was on. So I left it overnight thinking it would take time to reset I guess and this morning the water in the base just stopped even bubbling at all, but the fan is still working. Can anyone suggest anything else?
Thank you so much for this tutorial, i have a question, mine the fan works perfectlybut the heater dont create mist i see it pushes water but no mist any recommendation?
Just some info for laypeople (like myself) that is not mentioned in this video: this humidifier (at least the one I have in this model) is held together by Torx security AKA “tamper-proof” screws, and you will need a Torx security screwdriver in the correct size to remove them. I ordered some from Amazon and they were too small, so I ordered some larger ones that seemed to fit, however I still have not been able to move the screws at all in order to open the unit and check the fan. If anyone has any other advice I’m here for it, otherwise at this point I’ll probably just get a new humidifier.
Thanks for the video. I did as you instructed, but the humidifier still won’t work correctly. It creates the steam, but the steam appears to just bubble as displayed. Very strange
My fan is blowing quietly when it's not put in place but when I set it in the humidifier, there is a loud noise that starts up and no mist comes out the top.
Hi Joe, I had an exactly same issue so I thought it was a fan so I replaced the fan, however still having the same issue. Unsure what else to check. Thank you.

Mine just makes a loud noise, I notice the bubbling too.. but it still blows steam like is always does. Would you replace the fan or could it be something else?

Do you have wiring schematic for the Vicks V4450? The 3 speed power switch fell apart (UV damaged plastic) during disassembly to diagnose why it stopped working. I bought a new switch, but need clear schematic so I can wire it correctly. Thank you.
Hi Joe, my cool mist stopped working suddenly. I turn it on, but there's no green light but when I turn it off, it flashes the green light once. Could the fan be faulty?
Hi, Do you know if the same set of new fan work with pure humidifier? I fixed my vicks humidifier. And have an extra new fan which i’m trying use in PURE humidifier
Nice video, Joe. Is there a fuse somewhere inside the case? I had it on trying to get the transducer going and touched the water level sensor (not the model in your demo. mine is V5100NS) and all power stopped.
I just purchased this same Vick's humidifier and mine makes a loud bubbling/gurgling sound when it is turned on. I have seen multiple other videos of these humidifiers working silently, including yours! Do you know how to solve this issue to make it not make a bubbling sound when on?
@@Joeteck I understand. I know it’s frustrating. But unfortunately by following you link and buying the fan it is way too loud. It’s the type of fan for 3D printing like you mentioned. Video was very helpful and followed it perfectly, problem is the fan I bought from the link.
I just successfully replaced the fan, but I discovered a new problem: The shutoff isn't working properly. The ultrasonic element does go lower, but doesn't stop completely, the fan still goes full power, and the LED on the knob stays green instead of turning red. It seems to work by the magnet pulling apart two small bars in a switch-in-a-tube element; maybe over a long time they've somehow gotten too stiff to be pulled far enough apart or something? It doesn't look like a part that'd be cheap to replace...
Well, replaced the fan today, but it seems like the fan blows too hard and no cool mist comes out. Also noticed that the fan blows at the same speed regardless of the knob position. :(
You bought the wrong fan type. Too high of amp rating. I mentioned it in the video. The fan speed should always be the same speed. Just the amount of mist that is released. You shouldn't hear the fan loudly. slight fan noise you should hear.
Hello, I have the same humidifier well it's the 575. I own two of them and the turn dial to turn them on has seized up so I cannot turn it on or off. Do you have any information on this? I haven't tried prying it to turn it because I don't want to break it.
I just ordered the fan from the Amazon link above. I reviewed the specs again and the linked fan is a 12V/.15A fan. I have a feeling that this is NOT the correct fan to order now. Any inputs?

These types of humidifiers seem to have a problem with leaking. Could you also do a video covering how to fix that issue? I can't find any help online and am afraid to run mine anymore for fear of electrocuting someone and/or causing a lot of water damage to my floor.
some one please, mine is not so much a hardware problem. But I used...I think the wrong oils, first eucalyptus oil then the essential oils. now its like the there is a build up that seems like its burnt on the inside and so I thought this will just be how the inside of my humidifier looks...so I just continue to drop the essential oils and turn it on but its like it doesn't blow nice and strong and also It doesn't smell so good. I want to say I have tried everything to get it cleaned but nothing.
@@Joeteck But I've been using oils, and even some coals especially during covid. then I would just clean it then its business as usual. I suppose I should not have changed the type of oil. so devastating.
What's the current/power rating supposed to be on these? I threw the original one away and the replacement is much louder and very little mist comes out. Probably to high of a current rating. But it's not even on the label so don't know what it is.
After opening the unit and identifying that the blower fan wasn’t working, I replaced it with a new 24v .1a 5015mm fan. However, I’m still not getting any power to the new one. Any ideas why?
Like bad power supply to only the blower fan? Is there a way to isolate what the problem piece is and replace it? I’m getting power to create the mist and I have the green indicator light when the switch is on.
@@aaronblaser8655 do you have the identical humidifier as myself? If so I would need to take mine apart again and reverse engineer the board. Not that difficult, I would need to isolate the 24v circuit.

The link in the description is incorrect. Just bought those and the fans are very loud and way too strong. Wondering if you accidentally linked to the first set of fans you got...
Hi Zac. I bought them too and I think I know what you mean. In the video, because they weren't held close to a mic, the impression is that they're silent. When I first turned on the unit before putting it back together, the new fan made a fairly annoying buzzing, but I figured the noise would be softened when I put the unit together, which it was. But I'm going to save the original fan and do what a lot of the other commenters here did: Clean the original and put it back in. I noticed my originale was all gunked up with dust. I also remember that it really wasn't that loud when new and that only after a month or so it started getting all ratchety. But I already reassembled the unit. I know how to do it without looking at the video, so I can replace the new fan with the original at some point. I'm going to hit it with some canned air. Cheers.
@@christopheryochum3602 Yeah I popped my old fan off and tried to clean it and lube it and it must just be a dud. Its rattling all over the place. The new one is so loud for me, the noise is not really reduced by the enclosure at all. I've been searching online for a quiet solution but sadly can't find anything.
@@christopheryochum3602 I can also smell a strong odor coming from the fan, like the motor is burning out or something. All in all not a good setup IMO.
@@zac_holland You're right. It's still disappointing how little the enclosure mitigates the buzzing because I got the humidifier for my dad. It sits about three feet away from his bed, the only saving grace being his deafness to a lot of the frequencies you and I hear. I'll let you know if I find anything out from a legit high-end computer-fan manufacturer, but I'm not seeing any of these little things being made by high-end firms like Noctua. The air speed has something to do with the sound, but I think a lot of contributing noise is from the bearing and fan-blade shape. I have seven Noctua $20 fans in my self-built PC and they're quieter than anything I've ever used before, and what I used before were fans running at the same speed, so it's not just air making the noise. The bearings are combined hydrodynamic/magnetic proprietary designs that make no noise whatsoever. In their case, the air is, indeed, all you hear. They're out of Austria, and all they make are computer fans and coolers. I'm going to write them and see if they have anything in the pipeline. Here's a notice from them that they'd come out with a line of 24V fans for industrial use: noctua.at/en/noctua-introduces-24v-industrialppc-fans However, nothing looks like it would fit the application we need. However, I'll write them anyway. Sometimes there are products out there that are not visible on a vendor site for whatever reason. I'm still going to take an air gun to my original fan and may take the humidifier apart again just to see if I put the original back in what happens. The original honestly wasn't that noisy until a couple months in, so it may have been because of all the dust gunking up the works.

Hi , Please share the link where i can buy the fan for my humidifier
Its in the description, but here it is: amzn.to/2qyelv4
I just ordered the fan from the Amazon link above. I reviewed the specs again and the linked fan is a 12V/.15A fan. I have a feeling that this is NOT the correct fan to order now. Any inputs?
The manufacturer keeps changing the link to the correct product. Make sure it says "quite"
I try to do the same and change that’s but still Nothing 🥺
Replaced the fan but same problem it is giving only bubbles no stream, can you please let me know how to fix?
Is the fan spinning, and did you put it back in the same location location so the air flow is blowing into the tube?
@@Joeteck yes have put the fan back to the position, it spins fine and air also comes but the ultradisc like element is still giving bubbles and no stream
I have the same one but it makes a weird eeeeeee sound how can I fix it
Fan is probably bad, just open it up and look for the eeeeeee sound.
My fan works ok but unit
Makes loud gulping noise?
Water going into the humidifier section
Hey joe your link defaults to 12v set of fans. Should i get the 24v or is the 12v the best option?
No, 24v.. the company may have changed the product
What's the proper link for that fan?

I have a HuPro Electric static humidifier. Plugged into AC machine will not work outlet works units full of water indicator lights will not turn on using the remote or the display on the machine. have the machine broken down to the circuit boards. Wondering if you can help me find the problem with a multi meter. Thanks.
See if there is a board mounted fuse. It will be labeled "F1"
@@Joeteck I'll check and get back to you
can I send you a photo of the board itself?
@@josephvictor9141 Yes... JoeteckTips@gmail.com
These types of humidifiers seem to have a problem with leaking. Could you also do a video covering how to fix that issue? I can't find any help online and am afraid to run mine anymore for fear of electrocuting someone and/or causing a lot of water damage to my floor.
Hey Joe, when trying to use ours on full power, it only mists at full power if we apply pressure to the knob. Any thoughts on what is wrong?
Faulty knob?
@@Joeteck thanks for the reply!
i love the beat on the back... what the name of the song ?
As a content creator, UA-cam gives us music to use royalty free. I would have to go through all of my music to tell you the name of it.
The problem with mine is that it makes loud noise when I turn it on, a loud kind of winding noise
Fan is bad. That's the problem.
some one please, mine is not so much a hardware problem.
You broke it. It's a humidifier for water, not oil.. I guess you didn't read the instructions..
@@Joeteck 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
@@Joeteck But I've been using oils, and even some coals especially during covid. then I would just clean it then its business as usual. I suppose I should not have changed the type of oil. so devastating.
Will you help me fix my Because I have asked
HOW?
What's the current/power rating supposed to be on these? I threw the original one away and the replacement is much louder and very little mist comes out. Probably to high of a current rating. But it's not even on the label so don't know what it is.
0.10 amps, maybe 0.15 Amps. Should be listed as Quiet fan
amzn.to/3IVQGHw
@@Joeteck thank you, I'll give it a shot.
I tried this fan and it blew to hard.
My fan runs am not sensing air flow, I could not see any mist
Make sure it didnt fall out from the outlet. Could have been dropped.
Where do we buy the fans for the humifiers per your show?
Don

Joeteck where. Is the description?
After opening the unit and identifying that the blower fan wasn’t working, I replaced it with a new 24v .1a 5015mm fan. However, I’m still not getting any power to the new one. Any ideas why?
Bad power supply probably.
@@Joeteck not identical, it’s model VUL520W. However, the interior looks damn near identical to yours
Hi @@Joeteck Just wanted to check and see if you've had a chance to open yours up to look at the board? Would love to fix the one I have versus throwing it out to buy a new one.
Link shows a high speed fan but doesn’t say quiet. Is it still quiet?
No.. manufacturer keeps changing the link
Quiet version: amzn.to/3Beyrtd
@@Joeteck you’re awesome!! Thanks!!! We made do last night by putting a small fan on the outside of the humidifier. Thanks for helping us with the repair.
@@clarrisabartholomew5163 you're welcome!! Anytime, just ask, I am here!!
@@Joeteck they probably changed it again. Following the link you get the open blade type, not the turbine style.
@@zac_holland Gee...from the newly installed fan?
I get the new fan but isn’t working well very poor low steam.
Actually its should be a cool mist not steam.
