NS 518 in Blairsville, PA 10-22-17

On Sunday, 10/22/17 I caught the NS 518 arriving in Blairsville, PA then taking the first cut of coal to the Rosebud tipple for unloading. The train arrives on the Conemaugh Line, then works on the Blairsville Industrial Track (BIT) up to the tipple.
This is one of the more obscure operations on the NS, but interesting to watch. Coal comes from the Bailey Mine into Shire Oaks, PA then is sent to Blairsville as a 518. Once unloaded, which can take a couple of days and 3-4 crews, the train returns to Shire Oaks as a 519.
From Rosebud, the coal is trucked to the NRG Homer City Generating Station roughly 5 miles north in Homer City, PA.
