My favorite part of these classes is Zander's singing. Love the gravely, double base quality he adds to every piece.

    Ha ha Ben!
When I took this class with you, there was NO INTERNET, let alone digital sheet music!
    Paper scores all the way!
As for the violinist, she plays well, but ironically, I think she’s trying to do so much with micro phrasing, that nothing is flowing.
Also, I would vary the vibrato more.
Always enjoy watching your class Ben!
Brings back many fond memories from NEC.

She starts with the 2nd Movement: Adagio, the video incorrectly mentions it as i.Allegro

I think whoever coached them originally told them to be soft and extremely soft and delicate as possible opposite to the louder grander sound Zander wants.
Because as they were playing they were really trying to push ppp and pp and p throughout it... while Zander seemed to want to push that Pianissimo just at the end.

Goes to show how much they needed to learn about interpretation.

The piano is disturbingly out of tune. But the lesson is profound.

Thanks, I thought maybe I was just too fixated on crappy equal temperament intervals, but the unisons are awful. It's a nice touch just after the violinist nearly stabs Mr. Z in the eye. 10:20

Your playing was beautiful. It fulfilled Zander's requirement that you move your audience, because I was indeed moved. As for the facial movements-- You feel what you feel. No need to hide that. Knowing you feel the music give permission for the audience to feel it as well, and adds to the experience. IMO, at least.

Benjamin is right. She puts too much energy on her face. She looks prettier and music sounds more beautiful after. She needs more eye contact. Great Brahms!

Zander é um gênio da música de câmara, porém os dois músicos não sentem a oportunidade de tocar para um músico do calibre desse. Asiáticos... Muitas caretas pouco efeito musical.

    Maybe not buying her violin
but spend the 0.05% of it
    for a piano tuner.

Maybe in her culture it is disrespectful to look directly at Mr. Zander... whereas in our culture it is the opposite.
