As far as the Amy/Rouge debate goes for Sonic 3, my vote goes towards Rouge. Amy can join in anytime, but Sonic 3 is pretty much the ONLY film Rouge can join in, as she played a big role in SA2.
Considering how Amy is the only one that gets through to Shadow in SA2 and reminds him of his promise, I’m hoping she does show up in this. She honestly plays an important role. 💗 Unless another character gets through to him, like Maddie or Tom.
I seriously hope it's Amy. If it's a human character instead, then we're going to be getting some major Chris Thorndyke vibes with the scene, and it won't be as good. This is the one Sonic X reference I hope they DON'T have in the movie.

Rouge and Amy should be in this movie. Rouge played a big role in SA2 and it was annoying that Amy's role of being the sweet character who would remind Shadow of what Maria truly wanted him to be doing was taken away and given to Chris Thorndyke when that game got adapted into the Sonic X anime. That role should NOT be taken away from her again! I've also been hearing a bunch of people mention stuff about that they don't want that movie to be another boys-club movie where only male characters from the Sonic franchise get shown in it, it needs some female representation. I really hope that Sonic 3 can do some justice for shadow by NOT showing him as edgy-the-hedgie! The personality that he was shown with in SA2, Heroes, and 06 which made him become so popular in the early 2000s has been taken away from him for too many years, so please may he be fixed up and shown with that better personality that he had in those 3 old games in Sonic 3, instead of him being too edgy in that movie!
