@@DenkendeMystik-ll8oi I love Megadeth and even prefer them over Metallica, especially over the past 20 years comparing their material. However, I think Kirk's frenetic shred style is much better than Dave's! A good example of this, compare the demo tape recordings of The Prince (Mustaine) to the Garage Inc. version (Kirk). Kirk's intro solo is technically and melodically superior.
Fact: In the early days, Kirk used to use a VOX AC30 used by Brian May from Queen. It was actually one of the first 'Solid State' models, which is why Brian May sold it. It was still sold for a fairly high price-around £2400 in todays money.
Kirk's a very good guitar player. He played very well on "Day on the Green" in 1985 and "Cunning Stunts" in 1997. His solos are well constructed and lots of cool ideas in them.
this is great stuff! impossible to get info back in the late 70s - 80s -- how bout a L'Amour recap? that's where i saw most of these early thrashers etc ...
I remember watching Joe on one of his G3 tours, I saw several, but think it was the one w/Vai and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Joe’s right hand was moving around so fast it looked like it was on a rubber band, I actually laughed it looked so ridiculous. Vai also took lessons from Joe in SF.
Joe my guitar hero he use too be, now there is no point getting lesson for me its just playing hard rock and roll and getting drunk ,sharing guitar solo with my friends😂😂😂 love the video, nice story. This message for UA-cam 😊
Kirk Hammett was a guitar God to me back when Kill em All was first released. I bought the album because I liked the name Metallica and the cool album cover. When I got it home and played it, I was blown away at how fast the solos were. I couldn't get enough of Kirk's leads. I didn't know how Kirk got.the wah sound. I found out what a wah pedal was and tried one out at this hole in the wall guitar shop in Chula Vista CA. I bought it and took it home to my fender amp with a distortion peda and my knock off Strat and fell in love. Kirk is one of my top 3 biggest guitar influences besides Ace Frehly and EVH.
And I still like his solos and playing. Of course Kirk's not perfect but anyway I believe he's a very good guitar player. He plays very well on the "Day on the Green" in 1985 and "Cunning Stunts" 1997.

joe: "hey kid are you the guy who wants to learn guitar?" kirk: :waht? joe : "you came for guitar lessons?" kirk: "yeah I need to learn the pentatonic"
You are an idi0t that just repeats what others say. If you go over Metallica's discography, you can hear that Kirk uses so many more scales then pentatonic. anyways. Listen to Ride the Lightning album, Master of Puppets, Justice. Not at all just pentatonic. Even on Black Album he is not just using the pentatonic scale. have you listened to the solo in Unforgiven without having your ears full of $hit.. Ok if you have, you can hear that that solo for example is far away from only having pentatonic scale... Anyways, it is not about how many scale you and use that makes a great solo. it is the composition, taste, and feel what suits the song, and that is where Kirk Hammett buries almost all other guitar player in metal in. Even on Load and Re-Load he comes up with the best way to suit the song and still make it interesting.
You really should watch out for those so-called guitar teachers, they might be Gods under cover. Like Joe Satriani, and like the very little guy who did the Mr. Crowley solo thang~
any video of Joe in the 70s or early 80s? guess we just have to take his word for it. sometimes I think Joe gets to much credit. Hes good, but in the 70s he was no EVH but he became much better thru years of dedication
Howard Beach Queens, N.Y 1980's I got tired of the guitar player in my band never getting any better. I paid Joe Satriani for one lesson to teach my friend, he advanced one year in one lesson. Lesson 2 worry about myself.
I don’t get the guitar trashing part…so many people would love to have it. Why destroy it? It would be like race car drivers crashing their cars on purpose after the race
I think he meant he brought a copy of unfinished demos. Kirk must have wanted the recordings to help him write the solos in his own time without needing the rest of the band around.
Lots of jealous people commenting. Please list all your musical accomplishments after slamming the guy. He’s laughing all the way to the bank. Go flip some burgers.
That sounds quite made up. In the early 90s Kirk said that he looked for Joe after Kill 'em All because somebody told him that his playing was awful basic. And it's quite noticeable that his solos are better in Ride than in Kill (man, there's a little sweeping phrase in the Creeping Death solo) that that sounds true.

People shit on Kirk and Slash all the time, yet they have more soulful and memorable riff and solos than most. And by a mile. Satriani was dead right about speed... the number of notes played don't equal what's being played. Most times less is better. Yngwie can razzle and dazzle until everything after 2 minutes seems like he's on a loop but he could never capture you the same as the guitar(s) of Master.
I don't see anything that could have came from a Satch lesson. Hammett has never been anything special especially when you look at other styles of playing. There's way more to guitar then power chords and easy scales. Paul Gilbert and so many others are so far beyond metallica riffs.
When I was about 14 years old, I thought it looked wild and beautiful (for example Whitesnake Still of the Night video). That was very cool! But sadly those days are over.
