It's awesome to see AMC getting some love. A lot of folks feel like the Javelin was an ugly car, but I personally think the Javelin AMX is a beautiful beast of a car, and it just looks powerful, and in it's era when it was built, it really was. I mean, it won the Trans Am races a bunch of times. It's the car that ignited my love of cars in the first place.
When I was a young punk in the mid 90's, getting myself in trouble of all kinds, I had needed some cash for the summer. I was decent with a spray can, and my cousin owned an auto mechanics shop and paint bay, so gave me work helping his guys paint cars for the summer. His guys taught me the ropes of a spray gun instead of a can, showed me how to do auto detailing and painting for pocket money and I got a valuable skill out of it.
About late July it rolls in. A 1972 Javelin AMX. 4-speed manual transmission, 401 cubic V8 engine that just sounded like a beast. The owner was fixing it up, the engine and interior, the wheels and everything else were clean and new but the car body itself was atrocious, chipped, scratched and weathered to hell. We were asked to repaint it. It felt to me at the time like a wild beast, barely restrained. And I was being asked to groom it.
We set to work on this monster, painting it in a beautiful royal blue as per the owners request. When it rolled out of the painting booth l, I think I was in love. In fact, I don't think I have ever felt the same way about any car since. That Javelin just radiated power, the thunder of the engine was like it was punching you in the chest. I swore one day I would own one of those things. Sadly, still have yet to do so but I may soon enough.
So, I have something of a love for the Javelin AMX. This might be the stock car version, but I still love it because its a car I know is a powerhouse from personal experience. Anyway, keep on cracking on my friend, and thank you so much for this video! Seriously warms my heart seeing a Javelin brought back to life, and in the colors it wore winning the Trans Am races no less! Thanks again, and take care.

@@lotharrenz4621 Absolutely! like, there was just something about that car, the way it sounded, the way it moved, the lines of the body, it just all clicked. It's not fuel efficient, it's not the most powerful car today, but the car just feels right. Like i was meant to drive it. I was lucky enough to be allowed to pull it out of the paint bay when it was done, and i swore one day, i'd be behind the wheel of one again, but it would be MINE.

Perfect racing livery. Top notch finished product, Danny. I have 2 of these from when I was a kid and are near mint condition with the gray body color. The color changes really help show off the fantastic casting Matchbox did with this car.
That was so cool! Love the old Javelin’s ! AMC was a great car company. We had a 1962 amc rambler ambassador with the push button shifter . Wish I still had it !
I really love the new paint job and new decals you added to this car but in my opinion the detail that really sets this diecast vehicle apart from how it looked originally is the brand new real rider tires. A pair of really nice rubber tires always makes these diecast toy cars look so much better. As always, you’ve done a fantastic job!
A thousand times better than the original. Don't know what the were thinking when this was cast. The front is nothing like the real car. Thanks for the video.
Love it! It's one of those models that I'd describe as 'Pleasingly ugly'. Your colour scheme and those nice Dunlop tyres turn it from a fairly dull toy, into a very sweet model. Nice one.

Looking good! The dashboard moulding on this one is that way as on the AMX Javelin it's modified from, the dash and bonnet scoop are one piece. They filled the scoop when they changed the casting

This may not be the most insanely detailed custom from you, but that's completely fine here as it's definitely a very effective transformation. Great job as always. Went from a bleh looking pile of sadness to a patriotic badass AMC with flare and style. The rims definitely help it to stand out. Sometimes all a car needs is a new paintjob and some rims to look miles better.

Awesome custom build. The car turns out beautiful. Only the front casting looks a bit ugly. The grill in the middle of the former headlights seems to be to small. But the colorsheme looks good.
