You cannot Multi track record with this mixer, I have the Yamaha MG12xu and i use it with Pro tools 12, Every single time you want to record a Second track to the mix, its going to record both track at the same time and not individually like its suppose to, 12 channels for what anyway, I tried with Cubase and same thing. When i use a simple audio interface like tascam,M-audio,scarlett everything works perfectly , I bought the MG12xu without knowing about the multi track issue. I had to put it out there because its not specified any where.
This mixer is not supposed to do multitracking recording and it is clearly mentioned in the manual that it is 2in 2out USB audio interface. The closest mixer in price, who is designed to do multitracking recordings is Soundcraft MTK series.
If only the 48v was on each separate channel because if you want to put a mic that doesn’t need it and a condenser mic now you could possibly ruin the other mic
For the 16 channel mixer, is there a send and return feature for an external processing Unit? i noticed the Send 1, 2, 3 and 4 but no return can be identified.
This is my the third one buying Yamaha mixer mg20xu won’t send effect to auxiliaries for Mons on stage I really upset on that. I hope getting some suggestions for…thanks
We are using MG 20XU in our church it is good except one problem , we are facing crossfade issue or channel leak. Keyboard sound comes through other channels. Does anyone has faced this issue or it is our device problem?
I think these mixers have a strange but cool look to them. However my experience using them has been aweful but it may also be because the practice rooms I have been in have been verry bad
Thanks for the video buddy! Do you know if the MG206c USB, you can record for example 10 tracks and get it separated in the DAW? im using Logic Pro 10.5 thanks buddy!
Yamaha, can you answer this? do all tracks to USB as separate channels? And can you explain how the routing works? [Input] -> gain -> comp -> EQ -> Effects -> fader -> USB .... for all channels?
I have the MG 10... I love it but now that I wanna record a full band and Im waiting on my 8 channel M audio Interface Idk how to send out signal from channels 5 to 8....
Have an MG10XU I'm trying to use to record to GarageBand. The output seems very low despite turning up gain and volume on Channel 10, the USB channel on the mixer (as well as the mic channel). I'm using a dynamic mic, so that may be part of the problem. Any advice gratefully received.
@@eminehrolinsix8761 The USB is notorious to remove volume. About 12-13 db of it. With a dynamic mic which is known to be quiet, such as Shure SM7b, Shure SM58 and the like, you would need to get a db booster, such as a cloud lifter. There are many out there, some are cheap, some are expensive. You'd want to aim for a 18 db gain from the cloud lifter at the very least to combat the loss of volume from both the mic and the USB transmition. Condenser mics are generally ok, but there are ofc exceptions. Personally I have a Shure SM7b and a Sennheiser e945. The e945 does not need a cloud lifter, but the SM7b does, both are dynamic. Hope this info helped shed some light on it.
My advice don't use this mixer as a digital interface to record. Get something cheap from Focusrite. And if you must use the mixer just use Aux outs into the audio interface.
A compressor with Attack, Release and DECAY. I've ever seen a compressor with a decay knob. You should know this and someone at Yamaha should have picked this up in 4 years. Doesn't fill me with confidence.
theres only one driver go to yamaha site and find the driver Yamaha steinberg usb. Im tyrying to find a different driver that can multitrack to your daw
You can I'm using the mg10xu to stream my podcast all you need is a USB cable to plug it into your computer (contact me if you want any help with that it's super simple)
@@Thegbiggamerz Maybe you can help me. Do you know how to conect this mixer to amplifier? I have connected the speakers into the amplifier. But i want to control everything with my mixer. I hope u can help me.

I definitely won't chose this mixer for 2 reasons: No audio interface No external effects dedicated inputs Most of the comparable mixers now come with those very important features included
I want Yamaha to put one or two INSERTS in all standard mixer models in future, because we facing problem in using in certain cases. In such cases, we need another pro mixer. What you think? Adding 2 inserts will cost Yamaha? Not at all; It will sell more. Because of need for an INSERTS, now I need to abandon MG16XU and go for MGP16XU, which is a disadvantage and cost for a user; Yamaha should think not to cost its product user.

Hi John- I can find rack ears for the MG12XU, BUT--Where does one find rack ears for the MG12XUK (shorter form factor due to knobs instead of faders)?
Hi John...please provide us the operations of the microphone and the sound effect. Thank you...
Is it necessary to use a power stabilizer for the yamaha mgu? I'm quite new to this stuff.

Yes I have been wondering the same thing is it multi-track recording or is it just balanced stereo left and right via USB?
Most likely if it's just USB 1.1 then it is just Stereo but if it's USB 2.0 then yes it's multi-track recording

Yes of course. Just connect the main outputs to the speakers or the amps if they are passive speakers.
Nice video guys. But you should have reduced the music tho

Hi John, how can I connect additional external effects to the xu mixer? Any tutorial?
Hey there. Unfortunately as this is an entry level mixer, you cannot connect external gear. That would require inserts.
I guess you could use the group out and attach some footswitches. Then use one of the channels as a return. Not pretty, but might work.
mg good sound, good effect..i like it
what will happen if have mg12 and not mg12xu. what the different with those two.

How to connect yamaha mg10xu to amplifier?
Very simple, you can go stereo out to input of amp, very basic stuff.
How many watts?
Passive mixer mate. Use amps or powered speakers. You've got your watts mixed up.
MG20XU Effect not work on aux - monitor, it is true.....?????
I'm having the same problem
I'm on my second one I returned the first one
They're not designed to work on aux even groups. I purchased it already before realizing that

The 16 channel has 4 aux outs? That’s unheard of in mixers this size.
One is AUX/FX, but still good
The only thing I needed to know was that there a no returns
wow!
Why the music, it is very distracting.
