As set forth in A Safe Place to Be: Crisis Stabilization Services and Other Supports for Children and Youth, a companion report to SAMHSA’s National Guidelines for Child and Youth Behavioral Health Crisis Care, the developmental, social, and clinical needs of youth are different from those of adults. A robust crisis continuum of care is needed that specifically can meet the needs of youth with or at risk for serious emotional disturbance and their families in their homes and communities whenever possible. This customized crisis continuum serves youth and families and offers 24/7 interventions to de-escalate, treat, and stabilize behavioral health needs while improving functional and clinical outcomes. Presenters from Connecticut and New Jersey will share application of national best practices for youth crisis stabilization design and implementation, at both the system and practice levels, to include a prioritized treatment pathway that leads to a system of home- and community-based services and supports.
    Presenters:
Tim Marshall LCSW, Senior Advisor at the Innovations Institute at University of Connecticut School of Social Work.
Danielle Perri-Gasperini, LCSW, Division Director of Children’s Services at CPC Integrated Health.
