    How do you not want to give him a hug after first seeing him? He’s so cute!
    Also, love his speaking voice, reminds me a lot of Julian Clary’s!

    I LOVE Jon Ronson. (He has to be THE CAMPEST Straight Man ever, though I'd like to think I'm a close second...) More seriously, despite his obvious intelligence, he often seems to display the curiousity of a child and even a certain naievity . I find him utterly charming. xx SF

      I agree, he's disarmingly charming. I have a suspicion he may be on the spectrum. He displays some of the more endearing qualities.

      He's the literary equivalent of a faux-naïf, really. Similar to the attitude Louis Theroux brings to documentary film making. They don't puff up. It's not that they affect a mild-mannered or humble 'way', they exist in the story without imposing themselves on the story.

      Apart from his soft, mild lilt and the slightly rhotic r, I don't think Jon is particularly camp at all. All the rest, bang on. Uniquely gifted man.

    I used to go through that horrid feeling of disaster the whole time I family wasn't with me but I had lost people close to me and it did go away slowly,but it is horrid but better to expect worse then it's always a good thing when all is well😊❤😅.

    I first heard of Jon Ronson about 25 years ago when he did a TV series for Channel 4 called For The Love Of... which was mostly a series talking about conspiracy theories and lesser known religions. One episode explores the moon landings. Apparantly or so I am told the raw video recording for the moon landing hoax episode was over 4 hours long edited down to 50 minutes. A poor VHS recording is on UA-cam.

    Good guests, good questions...but O'Brien has a really awful habit of trying to finish his guests' sentences/opinions which is really the worst thing an interviewer can do. Just let them speak and finish their thought.

    • @edmckay7393
      @edmckay7393 6 років тому

      TrainInVain have you ever been an interviewer? When you do you your research properly, which he clearly does, it's not actually about letting them vocalise and finish every thought it's actually about guiding them through the clutter in their mind to the important parts of their own story. You have to make them feel comfortable enough to open up but still control the interview to cover the interesting points, anyone given the opportunity to talk about themselves will get caught up on their own psyche rather than telling the story.

    • @sratus
      @sratus 6 років тому +4

      Ed McKay Make them feel comfortable yes, finish their sentences no. It's a hangover from being a radio phone in jock - just getting to the point as quickly as possible and moving on, doing anything but having dead air. I think it could be a bit more relaxed that's all.
