23 Saltiga - Unboxing, first impressions and first fish

- In this video I will show my latest acquisition for spinning fishing. It is a small big reel directed to salt water. I will start with the "unboxing", I will discuss the unique characteristics of this new generation of reels and I will end with the first impressions it left me and the sensations of its first catch.
This is the newest addition to Daiwa's spinning reels which, as the name suggests, was launched this year - it's the Saltiga 23 - and is designed for saltwater fishing. Compared to previous Saltiga models, which started at model 6000 and up, this new generation of Saltiga reels from Daiwa has smaller size models. It starts with the 4000, there is the 5000 and there is the 6000. What differs from previous models, in addition to the size, is the amount of new technologies that these reels bring. During this video I will try to explain these new technologies and the main features that make this reel a small/big reel.
Even before opening the packaging and having direct contact with the machine, there is one feature that immediately stands out: it is ridiculously LIGHT! Weighs only 365g!
Furthermore, from an aesthetic point of view it makes you believe that this is the pinnacle of Daiwa's creation! The lines seem to flow harmoniously without the usual screws and the blue and gold colors are, in my opinion, a perfect combination.
However, anyone who thinks that it is just a light and beautiful reel is mistaken. This little giant comes equipped with a 15kg drag and the 5000-XH version that I purchased tows 104cm of line with each turn of the crank!

Bought one during Black Friday. Looks very small. Haven’t used it yet. The drag sound is very quiet compared to to 14000.😡
You should compare drag sound to another 5000 reels.
Não conheço mas fixei um pormenor: 104 cm por volta de manivela num carreto pequeno, é espantoso e também necessário numa luta com peixe grande e rápido.

É um bom carreto, mas o magsealed é tramado de conseguir... 6 ou 7 gotas 75.00€. Tenho um Freams LT 5000 para revisão e nem lhe mexo.
Olá Rui. O Saltiga é o meu terceiro carreto com a tecnologia magsealed e nos outros dois (Catalina e Certate) nunca precisei de lhes mexer ainda! Não sabia desse valor que, de facto, parece exorbitante. Espero não precisar tão cedo! :) Abraço!
