IKR, it went from the usual Batman has high tech and so, then it turned into a mecha film, then literal bats and monkeys come together to form a mecha, then batman starts using ninjutsu. I starting laughing when the bats become a giant batman.

Anime actually is really good at creating insane and messed up people. I think it was more of a personal interpretation of the actual character. I still found Joker quite insane in this film, but I also watched it in Japanese, which prob helped a lot. Dunno. I'm not a Joker pro, so I guess to others he wasn't executed well.
I understand where you’re getting at, but it kinda just felt like this joker was more wacky than he was cunning and more goofy than psychopathically insane which is his entire character, goofy but not to the point of super wacky and cunning but still psychopathically insane. This is mostly my opinion and I don’t speak for everyone here, And I just felt like most villains in anime that are put out to be insane and psychopathic rub off as more goofy and wacky. But it all boils down into the writing of the actual character.
@@orlando780 I get that. Anime has a lot of goofy characters for sure, but that's usually because they were purposely written that way. I watch a lot of the darker anime's and love how they portray insanity and mental instability cause they don't hold back (maybe too far sometimes haha). Death Note: Light, is a good one. Kanaki from Tokyo Ghoul has a lot of good moments. It's definitely writing. I can agree that maybe they weren't able to capture joker's essence. I liked the moment when Joker and Harley started to remember who they were with the red flower, liked that scene. I think this film overall tried too hard sometimes and messed it up. But that's just me :)

I do love the stories they have when Harley breaks away from the Joker when they want to go the abusive route, but I do love it when they have them working together instead of against each other.

This movie is absolute madness and I loved every second of it. An extremely original take on classic characters with amazing fight scenes and the animation that is beyond beautiful.
You forgot pirates, which also happened at one moment, what with Batman's ninja boarding Joker's ship. And time travel. This movie was like Batman fanfic written by a teenager. Just throwing cool shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Okay, I am really split on this Joker’s voice. He goes WAY over the top sometimes, but when he’s more relaxed, I feel he has time to shine. It’s a bit of a shame.

I admire the look of this movie, and I don't mean to make anyone feel bad for liking it, but... the script is so bad. Plot made me fall asleep in the first 30 minutes and most of the dialogue made me cringe. This is a film with zero subtlety, which doesn't make it a good fit for the Batman IP, imo.
