Mariya Lasitskene notched a superb three-peat in the high jump to highlight field event action in Doha 2019.
Jumping under her maiden name Kuchina, she topped 2.01m to take the title in Beijing four years ago, and 2.03m in London in 2017. She went even higher this year, piecing together a perfect scorecard through the winning height of 2.04m to become the first three-time world champion in the event “It was like in a fairy tale to get a third world title.”

imagine to clear 1.84 1.89 1.94 1.98 2.00 2.02 2.04 all these in the first attempt that's how great lasitskene is a magnifcent athlete with unmatch talent
Lasitskene just won the gold in Tokyo 🥇 she’s absolutely incredible!
The tasks on America's Next Top Model are getting more and more challenging.
Lmao
Was thinking that same thing! 😆
Are we watching the same video ? o_0
It’s giving me diarrhea. Oh wait, the lasagna did.
Only two US girls. Ten from Europe.
Congratulations Mariya for becoming world champion 3 times in succession. Weldone keep it up.
Я думаю, что она и в четвёртый раз подряд стала бы чемпионкой мира, если бы её допустили в 2022 году.
Maria is a fantastic athlete and incredibly consistent. She routinely surpasses 2M when others are lucky to get 1.9M. She would have two golds if the Russians hadn’t beat banned as cheats in 2016. Maria might one day break the world record.
Love the way the athletes are introduced separately at the start!
it is really great to see the athletes cheer each other on and congratulate each other afterwards. Good sportsmanship.
There is a lot of down time in track and field events. This combined with seeing each other over and over at different events, they become friends with a mutual respect. Everyone knows Lasitskene at her best was the likely winner, she had cleared 2.06 earlier in the meet so went for 2.08 because a tie in the end at 2.04 is broken by having cleared 2.06 earlier in the same competition.
Levchenko supermodel l love you
Mahushick too! Both Ukrainian are super beauties

2.04, the ladies are flying!
The winner was phenomenal as well as the runnerup🙏❤️
Congrats to the Queen of Women’s High Jump Mariya Lasitskene for winning Gold and her third world title in a row. I very happy for Cunningham for winning Bronze and her new PB of 2.00m very good jumping young lady. Way to step it up when all the marbles are on the table. All the ladies did great a very excellent event.
Kiii the best price.
I don't understand why the second-place Ukranian girl just gave up and didn't continue competing after she cleared 2.04m. She literally just stopped competing when she could have continued competing, handing the first-place girl the win without contest. Why would she do that? I realize the first-place girl was jumping better, but still, why wouldn't the Uktraian continue competing at 2.06m?
@@alantaylor6691 It was a bit puzzling and I re-watcted the end of the video to comment as best I could. After 2.04m the bar was set to 2.08m, the Ukranian girl Yaroslava Mahuchikh must've felt that 2.08m was out of her reach that night. This is a mental sport, Mariya Lasitskene had zero misses until the bar was raised to 2.08m. As for Mahuchikh misses I don't recall, but the announcer said she had 17 runs at the bar that night and maybe she felt a little tried. But when you put a young girl (Mahuchikh) up against a seasoned veteran like Mariya Lasitskene that's where the mental game comes in. Also, this was 2019 and Mahuchikh hadn't even jumped 2.06m yet and Lasitskene had.
Yup the winner never missed a jump until 2.08m. From what understand the Ukrainian girl could have had the bar set at 2.06m. I mean if those with a lower card had no choice to go by twos then someone with the best card right from the start could set it at 3m so no one clears anymore and they win be default. Also the lady commentator said the Ukrainian agreed to the 2.08
@@alantaylor6691 I believe your right, the bar could have been set at 2.06m. If they both agreed to that height. But the younger girl probably agreed to 2.08m cause she knew she wasn't gonna jump anymore. Sounds about right?
Yaroslava is amazing for a young athlete! 😍😘🥰
Levchenko and Mahuchikh are the golden girls of athletics!

Need to get some nice little bikini trunks for her. Those pants she's wearing are not so good.
These women are real queens for me.
The last remark of gentleman commentator is extremely powerful with full of appreciation which reminds us how much important of Maria's impact is in the history of women high jump.
I wonder what he would have thought of her Olympic victory because she could have been the first one to win two Olympic golds in succession. Every realistic sports fan will agree that she could win 2016 Rio with ease. Nonetheless she has left the field in grace after winning the her 5th diamond league in a fierce, dramatic ,epic battle by a clearance of 2.05 from silver medal position. She lives in her own world. Her mental power is out of the world.
Bravo a Maria lasitkene , superbe athlète , tout mon respect , une fois de plus c'est encore la meilleure
Mariya Lasitskene.
I will always love you mariya lasitskene!
Here's a fun activity: count the number of times the commentator pronounces Mahuchikh's name a different way.
4, so far.
Yup..and also mariya became Latiskaya near the end hahahaha. Not even close to spelling
yes, you have to wonder what preparation these commentators do. They carry on as if they are experts in the sport, but don't know the very few athletes at the top. No doubt the woman commentator is someone's daughter....nepotism.
Yeah, and she kept saying Lasitskaya at the end too. Come on, commentator, you can do your homework on names before the event. It's Lasitskiene, which is a Lithuanian ending of a surname, because Mariya is married to Lasitskas.
It's a pet peeve of mine, we either get "from THE Ukraine", and /or 15 different variations of their surnames. ! It's not difficult to look up (and practise!) the pronunciation of their names beforehand surely, when you know you're going to be commentating. 'LevEchenko', 'MaNehuchich' , all in the first minutes ! It's not like we're asking the commentators to read them from cyrillic, or try to spell them !
Great upload. Thanks. Please consider uploading at 4K. These women deserve that resolution.
Congratulations to Lasitskene! Happy for her. She couldn't attend 2016 Olympics.
This is not like a beauty contest~! It's a lot more fantastic than that

Excellent, as well as the 2020 olympic competition in 2021.
Mahuchikh is amazing!
Great performances from all participants. Thank you all for your skills and professionalism
Great to watch this.
I have really become obsessed with understanding the series of movements to get over the bar.
I note both Ukraines Livchenko and Mahuchikh really arch their neck and backs so they are looking at the ground behind. The other girls don't extend so far.
Beautifull and pure competition,
Well done...

Amazing. This was women sports at its best.. Mariya is unbelievable truly an all-time great. Yaroslava is a baby but breathing down Maria's neck without question. I was a little disappointed Yuliya did not win a medal. But she gets the consolation prize being one of the most beautiful girls or women I've ever seen. :)
The camaraderie at the end was wonderful to see.

So disrespectful, but I expect that from British and Americans - they don't even bother to try. The names aren't Johnson or Smith so who cares?
@@Exileonbackroad so true

What a wholesome thing to watch... Bravo
Some of these ladies appear to have well Long Legs. They sure do give their all. I have watched other competitions with the ladies and I enjoy it very much!
Levchenko is absolutely beautiful!😍
What is happening with the lady commentator? She doesn't know the names of the competitors. Mahuchick is Mahuch, Lasitskene is Latinskine. She mistook the Bulgarian competitor Demireva for the Belorusian competitor Demidik. How hard can it be (especially when this is your profession) to learn the names and countries of 12 competitors (especially when they are famous sports women)?
5:03 pretty sure she could’ve used another word here...
100%. this is disrespectful
She kept missing which attempts they're making too, as if she wasn't watching
One important detail you're missing is we're watching an edited version. This event was going on the same time as other events. They would rapidly cut back to a jump and she'd instantly have to pick up what was going on. Her partner was useless, clearly knew nothing about High Jump. Yes, she made mistakes but most would.
@@DecathlonGamer actually you're missing that these are PAID professionals. They should be hand picked, ex athletes or judges at the sports they're commentating, followers of the sport and extremely enthusiastic about it.
It's disrespectful to athletes and spectators otherwise.
kuchina is your final queen...is borning a new strar....yaroslava mahuchik....saludos desde colombia.

Uno de los mejores duelos durante el campeonato mundial #DOHA2019
Lasitskene was toast as soon as she slowed down midway through that third attempt at 2.08.
I think it’s just a natural thing she does in her approach it’s not ideal but look at every jump it seems she slows down in the last 3 steps
Does anyone else find themselves actively executing the approach, by sitting up real quick and then leaning over when they jump, or is it just me?😂🙆🏾♀️
@John Google Oh wow! As a fellow jumper myself, I definitely feel you on that tense up. I guess it's just a second nature kind of thing 😂😁

that lady from the ukraine, that cleared 204! i knew early on that she had the heart, and determination, to excell! she has seriously impressed me with her drive, and NOT GIVING UP!!
I am rooting for that Ukranian girl, Yaruslava Mahuchic
This was Yaroslava at her technical very best (before she changed): No 'power leak,' i.e. jumping vertically with no drift and part 'summersaulting' backwards so as to completely lift her lower legs over the bar and land on her shoulders. Jumping in this exceptional way causes a big shock through the take off leg (needing leg weight training in order to continue long term) and greater aerial effort. (Levcheno then also jumping brilliantly). Such technique is utilised by many of today's male high jumpers, and in the past by the women's world record holder, and the young and immensely promising Angelina Topic who is trained by her father, a former international high jumper.
How do you mean by no drift don’t all the other athletes do that?
stefka kostadinova and javier sotomayor still de best of all times.
such talent
That was awesome 👏 !!
Yaruslava you are the best!
Levchenko ❤️❤️❤️
Levchenko is one talented and beautiful young lady!
Mariya floats over the bar like an albatross at 21:23 vow.
is this some type of supermodel athletic competition?
Noo
This is athletic championship
Levchenko..... yes she could be a supermodel. BTW how hot are the mounds on these ladies? Not talking about their chest either😜😜😜
Yeah, I think I saw Heidi Klum in there somewhere.
I believe to represent your country one of the qualifications is that you have to be good looking.
They go by a scale of 1-10 on good looks and you must be at least a 12.
Your standards for a supermodel are low
**LEVCHENKO IS AMAZING!!!**
Маша, наша любовь!
They are all beautiful dont know who to choose
Lasitskene❤❤❤
A pity we couldn't enjoy more of Vasti Cunningham, starting to show her at 196, while all other athletes (with the exception of Butts who was shown at 189) were shown from the start value of 184. So, we have seen 2 of her successes (196 and 198), not the magical 200, which was shown for all the others, and 2 failures at 202. Anyway, it is what it is .......
1.96m was Cunningham's first jump, as noted by the broadcaster. She skipped the early jumps as a strategy to save energy, which did pay off in this case.
Même chose pour Demidik, qui disparaît des écrans après 1m89 alors qu'elle fait 1m96 au final
María Lasitskene the BEST high jump 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
By a margin. Her scorecards tell us that not just the heights she manages to clear CONSISTENTLY...
Ukraine jumper is the most gorgeous there. 😍
That cracks me up!
At the end she was jumping from too far away and coming down on the bar. Also the ones that jump at a angle instead of head-on make it too much time over the bar and long to get over. The ones with great form, get close, head-on, straight up and down, real short flop over. Not long soaring leaps from far away and an angle which makes it harder.
That is so interesting. Have you been a high jumper to have technical knowledge? What you say does make sense. I might look at the 2.09m record holder jump to see how she did it. Head-on, or soaring like an eagle? I guess that the record heights you need all the vertical you can get, which would require more of a close, head-on, straight jump. And then they need greater flexibiliity and technical/positional precision to curl their body over the bar backwards, right?
LIke when you're going from closer, straight and head-on, the body needs to fold more while going over the bar, right?! So it's more of a basketball layup than a long jump, right?
I hope Mariya gets to compete in Tokyo to claim the Olympic gold medal, she was denied in 2016
You never know Mahuchikh is improving very quickly she could win
Lol, not really. Mahuchikh has astronomical potential but she's going up against a high jumper on the Mt. Rushmore already in her prime...

В принципе, Костадинова тоже была 180, но что в то время было с допингом? Я как-то не очень верю в рекорды, которые не могут побить 30 лет, а то и больше, типа рекорда Костадиновой.
