That extra live thing on the shock is for off-roading your car goes over a lot of bumps making the hydronic fluid in the shocks get hot and under a lot of pressure, that extra fluid helps keep the fluid cool in that shock
The rear shock you were questioning has an external reservoir for extra fluid for better heat dissipation. Ford may have some new tech. in there labeled "live valve" maybe a valve that opens and closes as required?
