  • An amazing night out after work in a loverly little stealth camp spot in the river.
    The Mercedes sprinter 4x4 camper worked well but I need to get a winch and some better off road tyres for the slippy stuff.

    I think there is something almost primeval about having a real fire going with the sounds of water in the background, and then cooking a meal under the stars with all the sounds and smells of the outside to keep you company, it cannot get much better than that!
    Regarding that water exit, it's hard to tell from my small screen how large those rocks were that were impeding your exit but would it have been at all possible to "manoeuvre" one or some of the rocks out of the way? ;-)

      It’s amazing how a location like that slows you down and chills you out.

    You're absolutely spot-on about using a vehicle as you're building it.
    I don't think I've ever heard anybody else mention it but I find it to be REALLY useful.
    I'm sure some people would say "Oh, it's all planned so everything works as I expected" but there's always stuff that can be revised to avoid problems or refined to provide extra functionality.
    Regarding the graphics, it seems like the side-repeaters and the BOV logos on the windows really "pop" so maybe you could lean into that with some red pinstriping along the edge of any black panels?
    I guess your big "problem" is that Edna was a superb camper and the only way to get something similar, but with more driving comfort, is to move to a van.
    If you'd been driving a 110, you probably would have been happy to swap to a Dsco or a Land Cruiser but there's no way you'd be able to have the sort of set-up you want in the back of a Disco.

    A/T's are fantastic tyres, the problem is... your vehicle looks to be only rear wheel drive (from reversing off that island) so you're naturally putting more strain on the rears to carry and gain traction to manage the full load of the vehicle. Any tyre that you use consequently over the rear only (where force is being applied through the axle and transmission) is going to struggle as the traction and power distribution is not evenly displaced across the length of the vehicle. A/T's on AWD/ 4WD driven correctly will get you most places. I've had both MT/s and AT/s of varying brands and there's very little difference unless your truly throwing it around in the mud. Great video however, keep up the good work!

    • @Bugoutvehiclesuk
      @Bugoutvehiclesuk  Рік тому +1

      So because you saw one wheel spin you assumed it’s 2WD even tho the title of the video is 4x4 sprinter campervan and the 4wd active and low range message on the dash when I started it. If it was 2wd it would have bogged at that point and dug in. Anyone with knowledge of 4x4s would see this is factory 4x4 spec from the appearance and how it set off even with no grip to a rear wheel.Before you try and educate ppl at length it might be worth looking at the channel and previous videos to see that I’m not new to this.
      I have explained many times why this set up will benefit from MT and it wasn’t just because of one wheel spin on some loose stones and it’s also the reason these vans are spec’s with muds for utility board use.
      Thanks for your comment tho but i am fully aware of the difference in tyres/4wd/AWD.
      If it helps I can run through some of this in a later vid for you so that you can see that things have changed from pre 90s style of 4x4s.

    • @mad_murdoch0158
      @mad_murdoch0158 Рік тому

      @@Bugoutvehiclesuk well you’re obviously triggered by an observation which I admit was incorrect (my poor knowledge of Mercedes vans) most likely has something to do with that. I would’ve apologised however, I think your response has been somewhat immature. If we were to discuss Defenders and other such 4x4’s, difflockers, OffGrid trail traversion, break over, recovery, wading, suspension etc etc you’d understand my “knowledge” of 4x4’s is not in the least lacking however, it’s not something I feel a need to prove to anyone. I’ll not bother watching your videos anymore following your questionably ‘constructive’ feedback. Best of luck with the channel. I hope you learn not to take offence so easily, especially when not intended!

    • @Bugoutvehiclesuk
      @Bugoutvehiclesuk  Рік тому +2

      @@mad_murdoch0158 I’d say it was you that was triggered because you tried at length to incorrectly educate based off a wrong assumption while ignoring all information given. Clearly you do feel the need to prove yourself tho with your original comment and then bringing up your knowledge yet again in this reply but it’s ok I’m used to getting ppl comment and tell me what I’m doing wrong even when I’m doing it right 😂 luckily it’s only 1 or two in every few thousand. you can try and make out that you offended me but I wouldn’t have offered to add a bit into a later vid to show you if that was the case would I. Sorry I hurt your feelings by pointing it out.

    Rich now that you've used your pop top a few times are you happy with it or do you wish you would have gotten the where the whole top raises instead of just one end? Thank you for bringing us on your journey it was lovely. God bless and stay safe.

      Bit of a hard one because I’m used to less room and I’d be happy with no pop top. The only reason I have it is for the extra bed for my daughter and with the bed down it’s the same height as factory so I’m probably not the best to ask. It does make cooking easier tho. If I didn’t off road or need the extra bed I’d just get a medium roof van I think.

      @Alex-re5qn Рік тому +2

      Respectfully asking , why do you believe so ?

    • @Bugoutvehiclesuk
      @Bugoutvehiclesuk  Рік тому +4

      Right so let’s break down your complaint.
      You said it’s damaging even tho there was zero evidence that I’d even been there. Not only that it’s a ford built specifically for vehicles to drive through on a public byway (unpaved road) If you paid attention you would have seen the ramp in and out as well as the large stones placed there specifically for driving on.
      So now that that saying it’s damaging is proven to be a lie then the only things left is saying I’m idiotic and lacking in self awareness? Why? Apart from having a vehicle capable enough to get to this spot pls explain why this is any different to parking on the byway next to stone henge which is wildly excepted for the vanlife crowd and far more damaging than what you just complained about. Ppl in 4x4s have been stopping on that island for years and not once has a no overnight parking sign been put up unlike no end of car parks and lay-bys that 2WD campers use.
      What your comment shows is that you lied about damage to justify having a dig about me stopping a beautiful spot that you can’t get to.

    • @mattwright2964
      @mattwright2964 Рік тому

      @@Bugoutvehiclesuk I know you are bound to be defensive about this. There are lots of places we can get to but it doesn't mean we should. You cite examples of this yourself by mentioning Stonehenge. Many of these fords were built when people had horses and carts. Your van was unable to get through. Sadly we are not in Alaska or Patagonia, we are on a heavily populated small island and your videos are pushed by AI to people who mimic behaviour with even less thought. I have been able to get to such places and used to be into campervans years ago but chose to stop having watched how the 'wild camping' scene has mushroomed out of control and become damaging.

      @@mattwright2964 so your still going with I caused damage even tho there was no damage lie. I’d say that the idiotic behaviour was from you clicking on this video with a clear thumbnail and title of what was obviously something you didn’t want to see. Unless your hobby is clicking video to video for something to moan about. As for saying that ford was “possibly” built when horses and carts were in use and is still in use today by regular 4x4s with no damage shows that there is no issue or it would be shut (use some common sense) I know loads of ppl that use this route and have done for years and do the same and guess what….. still no damage. You carry on finding videos you can complain about on your device made from materials strip mined from the earth by slave labor and give the video makers your moral high ground while ironically giving them views and interactions boosting the said video. I suggest you find vids that you enjoy because clicking on vids you want to be negative on and having to lie about damage to make a point is ridiculous and you look a fool. There are far bigger issues in the world go do something about them. All you did was to encourage me to encourage more ppl to explore the countryside and enjoy life rather than sitting at home being negative.
