- This walking tour in Dusseldorf Germany offers a great way to enjoy Dusseldorf city's beautiful ambience in the Flingern District on a part cloudy part sunny spring day just after the reopening of some businesses in end of April 2020. I am starting this urban city walking tour close to Dusseldorf Flingern train station, then taking a quick stroll through the cozy neighbourhood. In the end I am walking around the Ackerstraße where some restaurants re-launched their take-away businesses. I hope you can relax and enjoy this beautiful walking tour in Dusseldorf (Western Germany) on a part cloudy part sunny spring day in Dusseldorf during the late afternoon hours while the COVID19 pandemic is happening. It is quite shocking that the streets are very empty compared to normal.
Flingern is a former blue-collar borough of Düsseldorf. Located northeast of Düsseldorf (proper), it is divided into two boroughs today: Flingern-Nord and Flingern-Süd. While Flingern-Nord has a younger population and is more attractive to middle-class families, Flingern-Süd is still mostly home to working-class people.
Flingern was first mentioned in 1193 as a forested area that was ruled by the Knights Hayc of Flingern. In the 13th and 14th centuries the City of Düsseldorf grew on the grounds of the Knights Hayc von Flingern. By the end of the 14th century the knights lost their influence.
Jan Wellem, Elector Palantine, constructed the Flinger Steinweg which was a paved road leading from Düsseldorf through Flingern to Gerresheim.
During the Industrial Revolution Flingern became an industrial and working class town and to this day it has many old and new factories. Only the old facade remains of the old baths of the early 20th century, which has been converted into a modern wellness center on the inside. An old steel factory was converted to a popular discothèque called Stahlwerk and was one of the early venues playing Techno music in the 1990s.

Thanks for commenting and tuning in again! Yea, it’s really quiet outside, especially in the urban districts of Düsseldorf. Whereas in the Altstadt there are still many people gathering up. But it’s ok, if in 10-20 years people would like to remember how it was during the crisis in 2020, they can just tune into my videos and enjoy this rare apocalyptic „emptiness“

Schöne alte Bausubstanz. Das Viertel macht einen sehr "robusten" Eindruck. Hoffentlich kann bald wieder Leben in die vielen kleinen Geschäfte einkehren. Die Restaurantnamen auf dem Stadtplan am Anfang sind herrlich 🤣
Hahah ja sehr robust und bunt ist’s auch mit all dem Graffiti! Hahah und die Restaurantnamen 😂 bin gerade 26km quer durch Düsseldorf geradelt. Einen Fahrradhelm für meine Frau abholen. Jetzt haben wir endlich beide einen. Habe Anfang der Woche aus der Ferne einen Fahrradunfall gesehen und bin dem Bewusstlosen Mann zur Hilfe geeilt. Seitdem hab ich mir etwas Gedanken gemacht wegen meinem ganzen Equipment was ich zum filmen in der Hand halte beim Radeln. Nun fühlt man sich etwas sicherer mit Helm :)

Ja, mit Helm ist es sicherer. Darf ich dich durch eine Horrorgeschichte meines Nachbarn bestärken? Ein pensionierter Arzt, sehr viel immer Fahrrad gefahren ohne Helm, dann Sturz, Gehirnerschütterung. Jetzt ist er nicht mehr wieder zu erkennen und hat geistig sehr angebaut... 😔zum Glück kümmert sich seine Frau um ihn. ❤

Wow, der arme.. Zum Glück kümmert sich seine Frau um ihn... Sowas lässt sich echt nicht einschätzen was für ein Ausmaß so ein Sturz haben kann. Aber das bestärkt mich jetzt immer einen Helm zu tragen beim radeln. Gerade bei meiner Fahrweise manchmal (auf dem Weg zur Arbeit fahr ich fast konstant 25-30 kmh, und das auf meinem ur-alten klapprigen Hollandrad, nicht das aus den Videos). Werde aufpassen! 👍

I realised that if the title of your video is something more descriptive rather than 'Walking in Dusseldorf Germany', people tend to want to click on it more-- I tested it out with my recent video where instead of 'Flower Dome Virtual Tour', I used 'Largest Greenhouse in the world' and the click rate seem to improve. Just some thoughts. Maybe you want to try some copy writing with your titles!

Highly appreciated!I actually never thought about naming them that way and usually targeted the most common searched terms(and if the place is too unknown I’ll go for the next most „general“ searched term, like „Cloudy walk in western Germany“ etc. ) Well, I’ll give it a shot on my next one tomorrow! :) and will name it a bit more descriptive instead of targeting the most searched term. So instead of „Walking In Düsseldorf Oberbilk“ it’ll be something like „Biggest Multi-Cultural District in Dusseldorf: Oberbilk“. Thanks again so much for letting me know! Let’s continue to try out different things. I’ll keep you posted!
