I have owned a jelly plate for about 10 years. It’s still sitting there waiting. Poor thing. It’s on a list of things for me to get too. I’m in love with this spread. Hugs, treen 💕💕💕

I have a small plate and have tried to make different designs but it didn’t work out so well I gave up, after watching you make prints I’ll give it another try your prints are beautiful and the journal page as well. Thanks for sharing ❤.

I’m taking a gel plate class atm and learning lots - after you use something to make marks or stencils you are left with a ghost print which you then let dry and can add a different color on top to lift up the print in the end - I think you can use a bit more paint 😅 it’s all a process you will figure out exactly what you like can’t wait to see more of this from you and learning as well 😊 lovely video as always

When you have taken your first lift off, add another colour paint to lift what you have left behind, to me that is the better piece of work x

My box of gelli plate accessories is essentially just full of trash. 😅 I love using bubble wrap and corrugated cardboard to stamp texture into the paint on my plate. I have collected all kinds of little packing bits, cut-offs from other projects (like pieces of small plastic pipe), and just anything with an interesting texture or shape.
I also enjoy using actual stamps (clear/cling, rubber, or foam) and stencils. My first several prints in a gelli printing session are not good, but eventually I get into a groove and could do it for hours. I have to do it only occasionally because I’d end up with a house full of painted papers!
Edited to add: I rarely clean the plate between prints. To me, the beauty comes from the ghosting of the previous prints. It adds a lovely depth/grunge that I just can’t get with any other method.

I was told to roll the brayer in only one direction, the other direction then takes off paint. Haven’t tried to prove that myself . . .

Meg, I love how this page evolved! The gelli prints were a bit of color for the contrasting papers you added. I always like your loose leaf sketches and mark making too. Thx for sharing.

It looks like your plate is still being run in, with the paint "bubbling" a little. You don't need much paint or ink (try dye ink too) to cover it, just roll your brayer one way only and lift it in between each pass. I love using tissue and greaseproof (deli) paper, as well as copy paper and book pages. My favourite methods involve image transfers, stamping and mark making in the wet paint, stencils and layering. Using leaves as masks is one I've been doing lately. Enjoy your gel printing, it's quite addictive.

I’m very new to Gelli printing as well, but my favorite results so far have been from my super cheap paints that are watery and leave empty spots and patterns on the plate to pick up.

So was that Carnival Wet Strength tissue paper you were printing on? It is very expensive in the US (made in the UK). Seeing how cool it worked for you I am tempted now though. Wonderful video as always. Thank you!

Love your experiments Meg. They are fun aren’t they. Could I suggest that when you use your braver to apply your paint onto the geliplate that instead of rolling backwards and forwards that you lift and roll. The paint goes on more quickly and evenly.
