    Hello~! Hi Kathleen, I'm Willow ~!
    Really enjoyed this video, I've heard of a floral recipe before but just in passing. I am so thrilled to have found your channel. I'm a visual artist who is starting a floral farm with my partners mom, a wonderfully talented gardner form Holland. I deeply resonate with the gap in education, coming from a traditional Visual Arts degree, it was ALL about the art and history but almost zero focus / education was on actually running the business of being an artist. I love the abundance and joy you bring to this and am so delighted to have you as a support as I start this new phase of my create life and career. We are going into our first proper growing season starting this spring and I'm so excited! Big love to you from the snowy coast of Prince Edward Island, Canada. 🌻

    This was great. Thank You! I'm always so worried about over charging....but the fact is, we are worth the money we charge. I am new to Floristry, so a real newbie. Thank You for this. 💛🇬🇧

      !00% agree!! The process of creating recipes has been so helpful in sorting through and being able to create the kind of work I want to create.

    Great video Kathleen - super helpful. I've known about flower recipes, but this will help to streamline the process. I still hesitate to take Perth's wholesale prices and x5 - I gulp at the final calculation 😳

      You're not the only one, TessA! I've been talking about this with my Perth-based students inside Flower Boss Bootcamp and here's what I like to tell them - one of the reasons Perth's wholesale flower prices are high is because it's one of the most remote locations to get flowers to. That remoteness makes flowers even more luxurious and unique and, in my opinion, warrants an even bigger premium. 🥰

      @@LittleBirdBloom thanks very much for your advice Kathleen. I'm realising that I have undervalued most of my work to date. Anyway, trying to embrace the concept of 'let the math be the math'. In your flower recipe system, I'm assuming the final calculation accounts for GST? So, if I'm not charging GST, would I subtract this at the end?

    Hello! Loved this video thank you it was so helpful ! As a designer based in France, I’m shocked by the wholesale price in Australia woooow. In france, most of the flower are from 0,60 euros to 2,00 euros 🤯

    Question! Why do you x5?

    • @LittleBirdBloom
      @LittleBirdBloom  Рік тому

      The formula I was taught was wholesale x 3.5-4.5 + 30-50%. I found that formula cumbersome and a little awkward (e.g. when should I use 3.5 v. 4.5 and when do I use 30% and when do I use 50%?). The shortcut of x5 is super helpful to just cut through all the confusion and get you pretty close to the right outcome. 😀

    Hi Kathleen, why do you times by 5?

    • @LittleBirdBloom
      @LittleBirdBloom  2 роки тому

      The most common pricing equation used for weddings + events is = wholesale x 3.5-4 + 30-50% - the x5 equation is just a shortcut to get you to a similar result (with way less room for subjectivity and a less complicated bit of math, in my opinion). 😍

      @@LittleBirdBloom Thanks for the clarification :) One last thing.. its probably in one of your other pricing videos that I am yet to watch, but what if I'm just doing bouquets to sell at local shops and online? Is it the same? Love your content by the way, very informative and in reality
