As a Canadian who is actually perceptive of situations I can't agree. I see a completely different picture. Lets present some facts. Trump was strong at the start and had Hillary on the coals, Trump struggled in the middle, and in the end it was fairly neutral with Hilary slightly ahead. Also notice how nothing was brought up about Hillary from the moderator. But there was on Trump like the birther issue somehow relating that to a race issue and Trump supporting Iraq war which is very weak. Seemed kinda one sided from the moderator especially given the huge weighted issues on the side of Hillary and how little weight there is involved in the things he actually did bring up with Donald. So it's ridiculous to say that did not alter the direction and outcome of the debate. Also Hillary has been doing this practically her whole life. So all in all Donald could have been destroyed but ended up doing pretty good all considering. This from an unbiased Canadian lol.
I do agree that Trump was getting heat from the moderator a bit more than Hillary, but they did bring up Hillary's e-mail controversy. I read most of the debate transcript. While Hillary did an okay job presenting her plan and making arguments against Trump, I'm not sure if Trump effectively answered a single question properly - not saying Hillary answered all the questions but Trump deflected every question into talking about losing trade deals and eliminating taxes or whatever his pre-set agenda is. I mean I thought Trudeau was robotic. Not to mention his grade 5 vocabulary and his constant interruptions and bickering to his opponent.
Max Bolton Trump brought up the emails not the moderator. It wasn't part of his questions. He at one point asked her if she wanted to reply to Donald about his comment on the emails which wasn't much of any focus and quite vague in context. Unlike his direct two questions for Trump. The honest opinion of a European: Trump was a mess. He acted like an obnoxious, spoilt, overgrown toddler chucking his toys out the pram. What is a lie?
Lying is a form of deception, but not all forms of deception are lies.

Why is lying wrong?

What harm do lies do?
Lies obviously hurt the person who is lied to (most of the time), but they can also hurt the liar, and society in general.
The person who is lied to suffers if they don't find out because:
They are deprived of some control over their future because
They can no longer make an informed choice about the issue concerned
They are not fully informed about their possible courses of action
They may make a decision that they would not otherwise have made
They may suffer damage as a result of the lie
The person who is lied to suffers if they do find out because:
They feel badly treated - deceived and manipulated, and regarded as a person who doesn't deserve the truth

They doubt their own ability to assess truth and make decisions

Those who tell 'good lies' don't generally suffer these consequences - although they may do so on some occasions.
Society is hurt because:
The general level of truthfulness falls - other people may be encouraged to lie

Social cohesion is weakened
Eventually no-one is able to believe anyone else and society collapses
When is it OK to lie?
The philosopher Sissela Bok put forward a process for testing whether a lie could be justified. She calls it the test of publicity:
The test of publicity asks which lies, if any, would survive the appeal for justification to reasonable persons.

If we were to apply this test as a thought experiment we would bring together a panel of everyone affected by a particular lie - the liar, those lied to and everyone who might be affected by the lie.
We would then put forward all our arguments for telling a particular lie and then ask that 'jury' of relevant and reasonable persons if telling this lie was justified.
But what could we do in the real world?
First inspect our own conscience and ask whether the lie is justified
Second, ask friends or colleagues, or people with special ethical knowledge what they think about the particular case
Thirdly, consult some independent persons about it

Two Donald issues with little to zero weight and equating to a race issue and not one of the many very weighted issues involved with Hillary brought up by the moderator. So that very much so directed the flow and outcome of the debate too. Between the two Hillary as been at it for her whole life.
