A great rendition by a splendid singer of my for always favorite solo. Bravo!
adoro questo brano, esprime tanta sofferenza umana, bellissima interpretazione, grande Cecilia
I have just listened to many versions of this song. Every singer brings something great. Coming back to Cecilia's version makes me realise how completely she embeds herself in the historical context of the music. It's like listening to it in another centry. Stunning.
One of those singers who seems to feel what she sings and not only how she sings.
The best version I've heard so far.

Simply beautiful beyond words.Thrilling!
Simplemente hermoso!
this blessed my ears.
I love how it expands from barely a whisper and then back again.
uma linda voz. perpetua tão valiosa ária.
Schön.
Forget the record, and listen this angel (and so poignant) voice!
she cannot do wrong ! just simply love her ...
So beautiful!!
Sooooo good....
Sono d'accordo. Una voce bellissima.
Que voz, excelente interpretación
감사해요 ~~!! merci beaucoup ~~!!
Just GREAT
God bless you
There's a plethora of riches when it comes to great singers and this aria. I can't judge Italian diction, but it seems Cecilia has the edge. I love Patricia Petibon's version, very pure and simpatico (her red stovepipe hat in answer to Bartoli's black one?) And my Canadian "plug" is for Karina Gauvin's ATMA recording, which I listen to repeatedly for her sound . . . oh! her sound . . .
Stephanie Lessard nails this aria in the current POV production
bellissima voce

LA MEJOR LA MEJOR
Brillant
Celestial!!!!!!!
brava Cecilia
Sei stupenda
molto molto bella indid
Brilliant! I like the Farinelli version a bit better for the acrobatics, but it's her as well.
fmdhaviland voices were fused together to try to recreate a castrato. So not natural.
Antichrist brought me here :) best opening scene of a film, ever!
Are you aware that "Farinelli" has been dead for 200 years?
And that for the movie, they merged two voices to imitate the castrato sound - as no castrati are alive any more?
Farinelli (film) on Wikipedia, the 2nd paragraph in the English version.
I think the opera is from 1711 but Im not sure, so you might want to research that if you want the year the opera was written/first preformed.
Laissez-moi pleurer
sort cruel qui est le mien,
Et aspirer à la liberté
Puisse le chagrin briser ces chaînes
De ma souffrance, par pitié.
"LIVE 1992!" vs. "Paris, 6 January 1999" - how can that be?
Nevertheless another excellent example of "La Bartoli" !!!
Farinelli's version of this song is the best for my listening pleasure. The other singers don't flourish at the end of the song they way Farinelli does in the movie and for me I thought it was much more powerful and impactful they way he did it.
Scheusslich!
1992 or 1999?
