BMW M135i - if you buy one, make syre you change the sump to a baffled one as n55 is known to fail due to oil starvation on the track, drifting etc Also zf8 swap is not very expensive at all, I swapped mine a month ago in my 140 from HP50 to HP70 for £940 all included Another thing, rear subframe, make sure you get at least the bush inserts which are still shit but makes it little better than not having them, best option is to get solid aluminium bushes Front tyres suffer from premature wear on the outside edge because of how bmw designed the front suspension, get M3/M4 arms, you get little camber(1/1.5 neg degree) which improves the handling and your tyres will be ok , or you can get camber plates
Couldn't recommend the M135i enough, owned one for 3 years and loved every second of it. Its the best car on this list by a country mile, in every aspect. for £10k, its a steal!!!!!!

Love the video. I’ve got a good video idea that I don’t see anywhere else on UA-cam - Great second cars for new drivers. The upgrade from the typical corsa/fiesta that isn’t too expensive (under 10k like this video maybe) and includes relatively cheap to run vehicles (insurance, good mpg etc). 👍🏻 any other advancements on this idea are welcome
@@tombecker1033 agreed they are very good choices but they have been covered in his previous videos so I was wondering if there’s any other great cars that aren’t too expensive but are a huge upgrade compared to “starter” cars. For example my mate recently got a recent BMW Z4 for like 7K with 45 thousand miles and was relatively cheap to insure - about 1k. (He’s 20 so not bad really).
not to forget those m135is have a lot of tuning options and can handle more than 700hp on a stock block. However, some of those engines suffer from worn rod bearings as early as 45k miles as people track their cars a lot and the n55s' oil pan is too deep for a car like this. A lot of owners suffer from oil starvation on the track and cause the engine to seize up. So if you want to track an m135i ( basically every car equipped with the n55 engine except the m2) I would recommend upgrading the oil pan and the oil pump from an s55 engine as the oil pan is shallower and they are designed to handle corners with a large amount of g force

One car I think should have been on the list altho not sure it is in terms of money is the Peugeot 208 GTi. 3 doors hot hatch with 208HP coming from a turbo charged 1.6 liter engine is really respectful considering it doesnt weight much. In here they are more affordable than most Golf/Polo GTI and I would say better handling considering they weight less. Also Pegueot is a company with rich racing experience, so im presuming they know exactly what to look for when building a sporty car. Also im considering to buy one in the future when prices get low.

The alfa Barera Reak world 0-60 1 to 2 weeks it takes the mechanic to get it back on the road before it will do 60mph alfa drivers cars that spend longer in the workshop for repairs than on the road. Such a beaut, a good friend of mine has lusted after one for a few years now but can’t pull the trigger out of fear of bank account death - rogue point but my favourite thing about the car is the rear window, such a decent shape!

@@Adam_Jones13 the gti and other petrol counterparts are a lot more tuneable and you can get a lot more performance out of them Diesels are still good and can still be great performance engines but they will always be more for economy and day to day driving and in my opinion just aren’t as fun(can’t beat the sound of a nice petrol)! What about the Leon Fr? 😬
love the bmw m135i but sadly i cant find any decent ones for under Under £10,000 ;(
Great vid needed this 😍👌🏽
That's funny, BMW and reliability in the same sentence, maybe 3 or 4 decades ago certainly not today.
The b58 40i engine is bulletproof just all the plastic components all car companies are using in their car aren't built to last.
bruh, the cheapest Audi s3 i could find in denmark is like 40 k pounds xD
Thats a fact
Import?
cheapest s3 in romania is 30000
Fantastic video yet again
Cheers as always Josh!
What about sleeper saloon/estates under 5/6k?
Can give it a go soon!
My audi lol a4 sline 220bhp 2.0 tfsi doin 0 to 60 in 6seconds an top speed of 154 🤣 love it when a corsa vxr comes up my arse and thinks ohh just a fake s4 ill have him and as soon as i put my foot down i have to wait for 4k revs lol but after that im gone and theres no cathin me (totally not based on a true story)👀
@@lmee6402 I've had an a6 allroad with the 2.7 biturbo S4 engine.
But I'm talking about S6 5.2 V10, or e55 amg. Big monster engines
What about golf 7 GTi or gtd ? Ive got a gtd remaped 230hp so it is a hot hatch .
Good luck, even with 50k miles they are still about 20 grand
The alfa Barera Reak world 0-60 1 to 2 weeks it takes the mechanic to get it back on the road before it will do 60mph alfa drivers cars that spend longer in the workshop for repairs than on the road. I do think that this list missed out though with there being no honda civic type R on it. The cheapest available is a 02 model putting out a respectable 0-60 of 6.4 seconds from its 2l injected vtech and a respectable 146 from its 200bhp. Unfortunately the newer 300bhp models dont come under 10k :(
Timing chain issue was resolved on the 2nd generation MPS so only an issue on 2006-2009 models
Can you do a saloon version ? I use to run hatchbacks but now I’m a saloon guy
Those astra wheels look like chiron wheels lol
Haha that’s not a bad shout!
Or the Chiron wheels look like the Astra wheels. Lol
Didn’t the Astra come out first?
@@S55M3 bugatti copied the opel astra wheels😤
Could you do a video for the cheapest car/insurance for 2021 as Covid and everyone is gettin less money cuz of Covid I’m thinking of buying my first car this yr as I turned 17 last month
Ah the Alfa Brera, the sexy car we all want but most of us aren't quite crazy enough to actually buy! I reckon the M135i easily wins for fun on this list. The S3 is the only car on this list I'm not a big fan of, just since it's a bit boring and I can't see the point in buying one over a Golf R. Any of these for £10k is pretty tasty though.
Such a beaut, a good friend of mine has lusted after one for a few years now but can’t pull the trigger out of fear of bank account death - rogue point but my favourite thing about the car is the rear window, such a decent shape!
@@CarsWithJB The whole rear end is pretty sexy...I reckon it's worth the cost but only to keep for 1 year or something.
S3 over Golf R as its too common
How much are scirocco r's where you live ?
I’m getting the Beamer in a couple months can’t wait!!
I can get you very cheap insurance if you're interested?
Not even mentioning the Cupra or the Cupra R, which would be a way better option than the mk6 gti for around the same money but a better stronger engine from the golf R or S3.
The Brera is a such shout!
It's nice to see Tiger Woods reviewing cars now 😊
Nice video man . Great work.. More real world type cars people can maybe afford.. 👍
The mk6 gti got huge timing chain issues too.
What’s your thoughts on having a Volkswagen Golf GTD MRK 7 high mileage with a changed cambelt? Can get some around £7,500?
Not really a hot hatch or quick
@@greygoosesipper6337 True, but wouldn’t the GTI be a hot hatch even though it’s just a diesel version and still gets 0-60mph in 7.5 seconds ?
@@Adam_Jones13 the gti and other petrol counterparts are a lot more tuneable and you can get a lot more performance out of them
Diesels are still good and can still be great performance engines but they will always be more for economy and day to day driving and in my opinion just aren’t as fun(can’t beat the sound of a nice petrol)! But still a great choice for someone who wants something of an all rounder
@@Adam_Jones13 I just don’t think they’re as “hot” as most petrol hatches especially after intake exhaust and remap as most people would do with a performance car
JB the content king! Am in the market for one of these beauties so timing couldn’t be better. Got a few of my boys hooked on your channel - your blow up is near! Cheers from across the pond 🔥
Haha cheers Christian - good luck with the hunt!
The Seat Leon Cupra R mk1 should have definitely been on this list 225bhp and sub 7 second 0-60 time, all of that for under 5k.
Without further a due i will thumbs up
Haha appreciate it man 🤙🏽
The Mini R56 JCW didn't switch from N14 to N18 in 2011, it kept the N14 for longer than the cooper S. The cooper S switched at the end of 2010. The JCW didn't switch till later in 2012 I believe.
I can get you very cheap insurance if you're interested?
Just what I needed to watch pal thank you. I am looking for a car under the 10 grand mark and this has helped massively! Liked and subscribed
Glad it helped!
@@CarsWithJB struggling to find a bmw m135 i for less than 10k though :/
I'm actually looking for a 1 serie from 2012 i was really suprise that from 136hp they can tune it up to 240 hp en the 3 serie with a standar 182 hp can be tuned to 280 hp so pretty impressive in my oppinion.
Most of these cars are insane when it comes to engines for a hot hatch
But I wish it was the MK2 focus st
Yeah man that MK2 gets me going as well 🤙🏽
Love my '17 Focus ST, shooting for 400whp
hey JB- what’s your opinion on the Mk2 Skoda Fabia VRS?
I like em personally with the 1.4 turbo but get the mk1 1.9 vrs imo because you can get em for 2,3 k ish an alot more reliable withit being a diesel and with less than 1k spent on it you could get a 200bhp monster lol if thats what ur into i can vouch for thr mk1 over mk2 ive owned both the mk1 was rediculas after i tuned it abit lol now ive gone for an audi a4
@@lmee6402 thanks mate!
Can we get a p3 for best cars for first drivers
Great vid
Just sold my m135i 2016 great car need a cheaper car and it's number 1 on your list grr.
Probably been suggested below but the Seat Leon Cupra R MK1
He did it, he squeezed in the brera
It was always coming! Don’t tell anyone that it’s actually classed as a coupe 😅
This my bro 💯
