Firing order of these 300’s usually results in a buzzy sounding exhaust but nothin a flowmaster can’t take care of! I think flowmasters are actually better suited for 6 bangers
I've had a super 40 on a 3.5 v6 in a Tacoma and on a 300 i-6 and they do sound pretty good lugging around, but you can't make them sound good at high rpm
@@rock-uu7qr The 300 will reach highway speeds no problem and it pulls just fine. Some of the older trucks can't but that's because of gearing in the differential. Nearly the same torque as a 302.
@HarleyBenoit: G’mornin buuddy! My loverly U.B. Uncle Bob had a 1984 Ford F-150 F-150 Ranger Pissup. BUT he put a glasspack muffler on the exhaust. Sounded like a Cummins w/o the turbo!
Another cause of a little smoke at startup/cold that I found on mine was the trans vacuum control module. When the diaphragm perforates the trans still seems to work but tranny fluid gets sucked into the engine and mostly shows smoke till the engine warms up. To check just pull the hose off the module. Any fluid means it's bad.
@@harley_benoit You always want a crossover tube to balance the sound, going with the muffler dual in/out saves cost only needing one muffler and no cross pipe, I know v8's often suffer a horrible pop when revving the engine, I really wanted side pipes but new exhaust had been done by previous owner, tho to get my hitch mounted I may have to modify it a bit.
No, it usually doesn't smoke. If it's cold outside or it hasn't been started in a while, it smokes a little until it warms up. If yours is smoking all the time, you probably have an issue. If the smoke is bluish in color your engine is probably burning oil.
Change the valve seals, they get hard and brittle. oil works its way past the valve stem down the guide and drips out the valve onto the piston. You notice a puff on start up and then goes away? There's your culprit and if they get bad enough it'll burn oil all the time and people think "my rings are shot" and toss the engine
@@harley_benoit This is a great start for one of these especially if it is really cold outside. Like Wayne said, it may be flooding. key is to wait for that to happen, rev it a little. That is how they warm up. Totally normal but requires technique. Good Startup!
@@mikejohns3104 my girlfriend’s is doing same thing. I think the number two injector is leaking while it sits overnight or it’s just dumping gas. I’ll let you know what I find out.
Best sounding straight 6 I’ve ever heard.
Check out mine on Quint 1836. I've got a 4.9 that sounds pretty damn good

Hahaha! Love the name and pic Mr. Shackleford 😉
@@johnnywhite7717these engines choke out past 3000rpm anyway
That 300 is such an underappreciated engine. Should still be offered in select Fords today.
Demetrius , if they offered it....they wouldnt make money on servicing it.
@@JWBEATY1012 that's an unfortunate fact. There were a few engines like that. The Plymouth slant 6 comes to mind.

It started going into big cam mode at 43 seconds.
Now thats what a str-6 Ford is suppose to sound like ...HELL YEA.
Awesome exhaustpipe view 🚙😎
God knows how many miles are on that Beastie Boy love the 300 looks like she's smoking a bit rich or burning oil gnarly dude totally gnarly
Odometer says 42k but I'm sure it has rolled over. Probably more than once. Engine was rebuilt once by previous owner. Thanks
Very nice, even has a lope.
Chop chop
blippety blappety bloppity, blippety blappety bloppity.... Love it!!

Wow, a 6 cylinder that doesn't sound like trash. This is neat
It ain’t just any 6 cyl, it’s a 300 inline 6 these are a beast
You don’t know sixes then
Inline 6s sound different from v6s
@@nuttwg6521 I agree. I6s idle like V8s and once you get into the higher RPM range, they start resembling I4s (but with a much deeper tone)
The legendary Ford 300 inline 6 🙏
Great video and great view

Tip. Put a double walled exhaust tip on the Flowmaster to make it sound throatier
Thanks
@@harley_benoitNo problem.

I have a 65 international pickup with a 264 straight 6 , I need to do this to it
Sounds pretty good.
The buzzin half dozen
About to do this to my 79. Going to keep the stock muffler tho. Hoping for the same sound.
Good luck but I doubt you'll get the same sound if you leave the stock muffler. The Flowmaster is much more aggressive
Harley Benoit I’m hoping for a deeper rumble at least.

It was almost black smoke it’s like the choke was stuck on
I have a similar truck either the same motor an muffler with dual exhaust the only thing I just replace the old cat with a new one
Sick! Im bout to get one and do that. lol.
My 89 Econoline has the split exhaust manifold, previous owner dualed it out all the way back, it is pretty loud.
My other truck (95 f150) also has the split manifold. I plan on running true duals on it once I can afford to get it done.
@@harley_benoit Get a dual in out muffler to cross it over, balances it out, and it'll go perfect up there as they are so close together.
