I'd say the vulgarity lies in the fact that these guys allowed themselves to be filmed looking like a group of idiots pretending to look like they're playing hillbilly pretend instruments.
Macho boys with macho voices. Compare this with what we have today from Korea...limp boys, limp voices fully made-up and flailing around on stage. I pick "Clarence" anytime...you can have your Korean "Claires".😅😅😅
I am not the black gentleman but I think I'll be accurate when I answer for him. If not, he can correct me. I won't mind at all, but I want to answer the question so and ask it really should be quite obvious, but you might be a very young person who made the comment but why black? Too many people are so young today and so woke they don't understand and that's not necessarily their fault. But it's sad but true, very simply. This is from a time when music was very revolutionary. Very special because it was very free. Now I didn't agree with every single song. Some songs, I didn't like back then for that very reason. But the. Majority of the music was free. Had great poetry, great expressionnot only of their generation but our generations thereafter. This is. One of those songs discounts for a time when it was very easy going but yet also very combative at the same time. I know that sounds like a contradiction but it's really not and I have a feeling the gentleman won't understand what I'm saying, but this was a song that was easy going about just The Times being free, simply put being down on the cornerand you could even see by the instruments. They're playing. They're playing more ancient ways of playing music like with the washboard. And so forth it's just free expression of art. It's just beautiful, great sound. Great singing, great playing. You don't use auto tune. You're not having the f. Mom dropped all the time. You don't have any culture clashes? You don't have a welkism. It's just beautiful music of The Times That's it.

I used to commute to work from Vallejo to downtown Oakland. One of my back road routes when the freeway was clogged was on 6th St. In Berkeley into Oakland. The first time I drove it I freaked as I passed the corner of 6th St & Peralta Ave. in Oakland and saw the old Duck Kee Market on the corner there. That's the market on the album cover of Willie & the Poor Boys.
All I know is I Burnt many a joint listening to these guy's and so many others of that time. This was a great time to live with all the music that was made
Wow !!!!!
Just wanted to remember. My Heart felt thanks to our Veterans. I know this song gave our Vet's whom served in Vietnam some peace. God bless you Jim. Your friendship will always remain with me...
Probably between late 1969 and early 1971, CCR's peak. Song was released as a single in late 1969, when they played it on Ed Sullivan Show. More shows like this put Sullivan off the air.. Sullivan was pushing 70 years old at time anyway.. This show, American Bandstand, and other variety shows. Up until 1966, Sullivan was pretty much the only one at prime time...
I use to babysit for a couple in the neighborhood back in the day and one of the albums they had was "Cosmos Factory". As soon as they left the driveway, on went CCR and up went the volume!!!! The dad had a '65 Telecaster which of course I would pull out of the case and try to play along. This is when I first started playing so I was rough at first but I eventually got the hang of it and before too long I was playing along no problem. Good memories.
I know they rocked the house on Ed Sullivan's show twice, March of 1969 with Proud Mary and November of same year, with this song and "Fortunate Son.." They probably played American Bandstand but don't recall this show's name. Looks like anywhere between Fall of 1969 and Fall of 1970. The man here, who I have no idea is, also introduced Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young around same time period...
The first LP I purchased as a teenager was this album. I think it was called Willie and the Poorboys and I purchased it from a headshop in Denver Colorado in 1969 or 1970. I saw CCR in concert in 1972 at the Denver Colosseum along with BB King and Tony Joe White. I graduated from High School at the same Coliseum a few months later. 53 years have passed but I still remember the concert and I will never forget BB King playing the blues!!!
I was so glad when I seen them played in spring of 1972. I was 15 years old at the time. Great band and I will never forget this. Until, they broke up after September of 1972 I think. Damned shame though. They were great!
👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🎸🎶🎶🎶🎼🎼🎼😃

I'm the gost of Tom! All those emojis make me wake up from gravee, jajaja. Is a feeling and love for CCR that we all have. Ojalá que John vuelva a Sudamérica
Looks like John sang live but the music was canned - er - pre-recorded. There's someone playing that bass beat and it's not Tom, or Stu. Actual show is ID'd in the comments by Dave Walley.
I had no idea they played the warshtub. The dude on the warshboard had a crazy mustache. Gotta love Cass Elliot would have liked her singing with the guys.

So lucky to have grown up listening to their music! " A never once again" Thank you!
Must be lip synch, there is no drum and Fogarty always played guitar.
I love how enthusiastically Stu's playing that gut bass!
As Black Guy I absolutely LOVE ❤️ this Song it's better than most songs in 2023.

I saw Fogerty live less than 2 years ago and sounded just as crisp and sharp as he did in '69. What a show!

In addition - the other person doing the intro with Cass is comedian David Steinberg. The Music Scene was a TV series.
I saw CCR in a picture with all those instrumentse, but I don't remember where, maybe a record album.
"Bring a nickel, tap your feet" Great time growing-up with CCR and all the other good music of that era.
