graston technique, Qui Sha, ASTYM all basically the same. Use a bar and rub scar tissue and it breaks down over repetitions. I also use a "push" technique with a bar/tool. Pushing deep into the back to get the deeper scar tissue.
If you live in NJ, have pain and don't go see this guy then you are missing out. I am lucky enough to live in Phoenix where someone does similar work. So few people out there do this kind of work. The odds of you getting it fixed on your own with scraping, poking, rolling it out etc is unlikely. Don't think because you couldn't fix it that a professional who understands how these adhesions cause pain won't be able to.
Lipomas are lumps of fatty tissues, adhesions are points where muscle fibers become glued to one another, oftentimes where muscles intersect each other like in the shoulders. Either the muscle tissue will no longer be able to glide and move properly or as one muscle engages it pulls on another muscle causing limitations in range of motion and pain.

Knots are more of a generalized term for random muscle tightness or the location of the symptom. In this case the adhesions are causing tightness in the muscle leading to the muscle with the knot to feel overworked or over stretched. You can work the knot but doing so doesn't release the cause of the tightness or strain. By releasing the adhesion you are either correcting the compensation pattern or redistributing the workload to what it should be.
ok so I have not necessarily chronic, but regular low back pain that recurs exactly where your doctor/patient has pain on the left side in the soft tissue. But after going to numerous chiros doing various things (stim, cracking and applying pressure, vigorous rubbing/massage) it never was ever really gone. So I finally got an xray and my spine doc says it is simply a function of arthritis in my spine at a vertebrae (can't recall which one but the common one/s just above the pelvis) and I need to do various stretches and PT to keep it at bay, which I had already done. So Doc, you're saying it's not about the arthritis but rather some adhesion on that left side?

Hi Doc, thanks for the reply. Yes, it's more like when I move or twist or bend, I feel it more. It is not "chronic" in that I live with it everyday, it's more like it flares up from time to time (can be pretty frequent though) and just seems like one of those things that older guys have to deal with (I'm 58). But I seem to be accumulating a number of vertebrae related issues with aging - I have DISH in my thoracic spine, I have costocondritis (probably from the DISH), so range of motion isn't great, and now getting crunchy neck vertebrae. All my xrays just suggest typical degenerative spine stuff, (very technical terminology I'm not familiar with) but there are no slipped discs. I don't mean for you to try and diagnose by internet, the main point I was making is what you have referenced in your videos - lots of Chiros out there, but too many that just follow the same old pattern (just like many GPs these days who don't understand diet, cholesterol, blood pressure, etc) and aren't really digging into how to heal that specific patient, so you go from one to the next and hope the next one is the real deal, but they aren't. There are not enough of docs like you and hard to believe that in Los Angeles it is hard to find someone like you. All you good guys are on UA-cam because you have something special to offer. Can you tell me if there are any Dr's of your type in colorado? My son has an inoperable mass on his pelvis the Doctors think is causing pain in his back. I have been taking him to a spine treatment but he gets a pain in the top of his foot now that he has had treatment, he still has back aches in a few days after treatment. He was getting shots along with treatment but shots got too expensive, now in the same boat.
Not really my friend, The lymphatic system is a defense system of the body that helps with detox. This treatment won't directly help with lymphatic issues, that would need to be addressed by supporting the bodys immune system. Diet and stress are key factors here.

There's a difference between adhesions and Lipomas. I have Lipomas. They can only be treated with surgery
