@@LivingHerBestLifeI’m doing that too
@paulaf5936 I honestly have yet to encounter a single Canadian who isn't doing this. When our sovereignty is threatened, political differences no longer matter. We can work out all our petty differences at a later date. For now, we are all simply Canadians
I have even unsubscribed from youtube decorating videos from u.s. So fed up with trump & his maga supporters. (that truth is are not making their country great again)
I have been reading my labels and buying and supporting Canadian farmers for decades.
More people need to see this, it helps clarify what products are Canadian.
Dear Canadians, please know that the the plump chump doesn't represent the views of all of us. Canada has been, and hopefully will continue to be after he is gone, a great neighbor and friend. I just subscribed to this channel and I will be buying all the Canadian products I can find here in the US.
Thank you for saying that. I as a Canadian with some family in the US. I hope things will eventually improve for all of us. 😢
I agree. The majority of Americans are lovely, friendly people. Unfortunately our leaders represent us. Hopefully we can remain friends through these hard times.
I hope most Canadians understand that most who voted for Trump were wanting more affordable living -we get that. Trump has been beyond vulgar and rude and completely disrespectful. I have never seen Canadians so angry - and that is directed at the orange one and the spineless, gutless Republican Party!!!
@@rmac2489I work in manufacturing in Canada and my whole life I was proud to buy made in America products. I try everything to avoid buying foreign made products. On Boxing Day I needed a new wallet I went to every store trying to find a wallet made in Canada, not finding one made in Canada I did find one made in the USA and bought it. It’s unfortunate that I now regret that decision and could have saved $35 buying one made in China. Your right in my lifetime I have never had any anger towards the united states but I and many more Canadians are very angry now. Hopefully we can get over it someday it’s not really the American people we are angry at I have met many wonderful Americans in my travels so there is hope. But we do have long memories we are quiet and peaceful people until we need to not be. This has united Canadian people regardless of political views.
Thanks neighbour
I recently made a list of Canadian grocery items. Keeping in my purse. GO Canada!🇨🇦♥️

If you want Canadian veggies, stop destroying farmlands on order to grow most of your produce here. Instead of monstrous luxury homes, build greenhouses to grow your veggies here. Didn't that ever occur to you Canadians? It's quite obvious.

Thanks for your work on this. One minor detail, Canada Dry funnily enough "is a Canadian-American brand of soft drinks that originated in Toronto, Ontario in 1904. The brand is now owned by Keurig Dr Pepper, an American company".
Canada is not having tariff disputes with any other country than the United States, so you can definitely still buy produce made in Mexico, Peru, Chile, etc.. and not have to forego your winter strawberries or raspberries. Or even oranges from Israel, bananas from Central America, and peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers from greenhouses right here in Canada grown all year round.

Canadian please!! Lets be mindful. Its about time we supported our own country
Careful. Prepared in Canada can mean US sourced, packaged in Canada
Keep in mind that packaged in Canada also means Canadian jobs.
However, it will reduce purchase of other brands and possibly have Americans questioning.
I love the idea of focusing on Canadian products, I have Celiac disease and anytime you can point out gluten free and Canadian it’s very helpful. Great video thanks 👏🏼
I work at a Save-On-Foods and right now we are getting out small signs that either say “made in Canada” or “product of Canada”. It’s quite the job and we are working as fast as we can, but this will make it easier for shoppers to see rather than having to look at the packages. We love our shoppers and want the best for them.
I do a lot of cooking from scratch and already buy Canadian products whenever possible. I also try to avoid processed foods. It’s really easy to make your own pancake mix! And yogurt! For me the biggest challenge is finding fresh produce during the winter. I grow my own herbs, buy Mexican avocados, and my local farmers’ markets are my preferred places to shop for produce when they are open. I wish I had a root cellar and a chest freezer so I could store root vegetables over the winter. I’ve got to check out the frozen food section for kale, broccoli, etc…….
American here, just ordered my Canadian products to be sent into the US.
Thank you!
Heinz ketchup has been made in Canada for around 5years now. They built a new processing Plant in Quebec but use Leamington grown tomatoes. CHECK the label.
Leamington Ontario.
Uninformed Turdo opened his big yap and now ppl make videos about not buying Heinz. They're unfortunately going to have a big drop in sales because of this. I would definitely sue. As everyone says CHECK and READ the entire label
I'm still buying Frenches because Heinz only came back after backlash, Frenches never left and hired all the workers Heinz fired. Heinz is just salty that people still remember what they did. It's fine to buy Heinz now, but if they do go under Frenches will just buy up their plant and hire their workers again. What can I say! Actions have consequences and people don't forget.
French ketchup has always been made in Canada with Canadian grown tomatoes.
@@da.j.9096 Right? I remember when we switched to Frenches when that happened. The fact that Heinz folded and came back to Canada is a very good example of how shopping Canadian will be effective.

Schneiders is a Canadian company who owns Maple Leaf. Heinz is an American company but Heinz ketchup is made here in Canada with Canadian tomatoes and Canadian workers. Pancakes are easy to make from scratch with less additives. Some companies might be American but products are made here. We have to be careful not to hurt Canadian workers or we could have another problem with them losing their jobs.
French's ketchup made in Quebec is very good I've been buying for years.

Heinz ketchup is in Montreal (they employ 1600 people) and the tomatoes are sourced in Ontario. You may want to edit that.
To prevent potential health issues in dairy cows, the use of artificial or synthetic growth hormones is not allowed in Canada. This is why you do not see alot of US Dairy products in Canada
@@karenzirk6800 great information 🇨🇦
buy blue cow only..
I don’t use Dairy and if other’s use Plant milk like me, “Earth’s Own” brand has the maple leaf, prepared in Burnaby BC!
Thanks for doing this. One thing to keep in mind is "prepared in Canada" does not mean "grown in Canada". Also a 100% Canadian owned company does not necessarily mean the actual products are 100% grown in Canada. Lots of great comments. Go Canada!!!!!
but we have to support the jobs of those who work in the product made in,,Canada
It would be hard to process exclusively Canadian Grown food, with 1/2 our yr (other then some green houses) not growing produce. But it would be great to know where some of those “Imported ingredients” come from. Say a jar of salsa says some domestic some imported, perhaps that’s from Mexico, and that I would be happy to support that. We are learning who our friends ARE.
I was thinking the same; where do the raw materials come from... they may need to be imported and perhaps partially prepared elsewhere. Also not sure of what percentage means designates "made in Canada" and "packaged or prepared in Canada". I can imagine the rules/laws are fuzzy. Still good to do our best and learn along the way. Thanks

Pear Milling maybe owned by PepsiCo, but It is made by the Quaker Oats Plant in Peterborough, Ont. It is milled there from grain from Western Canadian and Ontario. It is a major industry in the city which supplies good wages to their employees which they spend here in Canada . It’s made in Canada.
This has become a great conversation starter and I appreciate people being kind❤
I too shop at Save on In Calgary and was looking at products yesterday while shopping seniors day. Please remember that though a company may be American they may have plants in Canada and you don't want to put Canadians out of work. Just do a simple google search to see which products have plants here. Hersheys does have plants in eastern Canada and though Coke is American we do have a plant right here in Calgary.
As a US citizen who lives in a border state (Maine), I've long relied on and enjoyed Canadian products. For us, they're easy to identify, just look for the bilingual labeling!
Thank you for making this video, it really helps. Save On Foods is now in the process of putting "Made in Canada" labels in front of products that are at least 98% made in Canada. This will make it easier for shoppers.
French's was bought by McCormick an American company....So both French's and Heinz are made with Canadian tomatoes in Canada.
*French's No Sugar added taste way better than the equivalent in Heinz*
Used to make my own but have been buying French's No sugar added because the taste is like regular Heinz. Tomato paste price has gone up so much, so making at home is a no go.

Yes , please. Show us what Canadian products are at Costco. Thanks
Thank you for this video, I’ve been planning my own grocery shop this morning and keeping an eye out for Canadian goods. My Save-on-Foods and superstore are across the street from each other so I usually go to both and purchase the best priced products at each from my list.
Although I don’t personally shop at Costco (single person household) I would say maybe still do content relating to it. I assume they must sell some Canadian goods that you can still look out for, and pricing wise it’s still a good decision for especially larger households. I’ve also been glad to see Costco standing on their values in their business practices against external pressure. If a larger household needs to get some value in large quantity purchases, they could do worse than Costco!
Hi all! Wanted to comment about French’s Ketchup is made in Canada with Canadian tomatoes, but mustard is not! Thanks so much for doing this Angela! If you follow Superstore they are highlighting Canadian Products on their Media channels. Be interested to see which Costco products are Canadian.
Plan for a extra couple minutes in the store to check the labels but there are alot of options . You might even be surprised at what you already buying thats Canadian. Living her best life is teaching you a lesson right now, was a product fully made in Canada or was it brought in "half made" and was "packaged or prepared here" - thats ware the lines are blurred between American and Canada.

Kraft peanut butter is processed in Montreal CANADA. Yes it contains peanuts sourced from the US but so does all peanut butter. Pepsico is a Canadian company and all Pepsi products are made, bottled, and distributed by Canadian factories. Boycotting Pepsi products will affect Canadian jobs. If you look at a bottle or can, you'll see the maple leaf. Please don't make assumptions just on the product name. Check the label!
I wouldn’t call PepsiCo a Canadian company but they do make products here in Canada, Quaker Oats in Peterborough Ontario has been making Quaker products for decades.

Everything you showed I already buy. Yeah! Canada made is a better product in most cases.
Interested in Canadian 🇨🇦 products. Hello from Milton 👋
Co-op too. COSTCO is a different kettle of fish. They are a fantastic company, that take great care of their employees. Remember when they say "prepared for" usually means it is from another country
I think this is a great topic but we need to realize distributed by or prepared for doesn't mean Canadian or local. It is just that they have a warehouse in Canada it gets collected at and then sent out from there. Most of those items will still come from the US and be subject to Tarrifs. Example would be Canada Dry t is owned by Dr. Pepper an American company.
AGREED!!!!! Prepared/made in Canada can be misleading at best. For example, the juice shown from Sunrype had kiwis on the packaging. We don't grow/ produce kiwis here in Canada, as far as I know. Same with the peanut butter, yes made in Canada but undoubtedly the peanuts are NOT grown in Canada. So who are we supporting at the grocery store? Both the 'producer" and the 'preparer' - but also the 'distributor' and any or all of each of those 3 could be Canadian or a combination of Canadian and foreign. And the store itself could be part of a foreign owned chain or not.
Distributed in Canada is not critical to 'going Canadian' excepting that the company with the warehouse or the trucking company doing the physical distribution to each store could be 'locally' owned and operated and employing locals. Distributed in Canada by xxxx foodstuffs can come from any country.
Having said that, supporting a Canadian entity anywhere along the food chain seems better than nothing... keeping in mind there are multiple US companies and International conglomerates with Canadian subsidiaries whose status can be unclear on labelling.
The CRITICAL information seems to be "product of Canada" also having been prepared in Canada, but probably even if it were a product of Canada which went elsewhere to be refined and turned/prepared into a sellable product, that would support Canadian farmers and growers, but not Canadian manufacturers, and so on. For a far fetched example (far fetched because the US grow their own potatoes in Idaho) lets say PEI /Canadian potatoes are sold to a US manufacturer, and turned into frozen hash browns in the US. Then they could come back to Canada for sale under a store brand for example. Presumably along the way there would be tariffs assessed on both sides, both for the US entity buying our potatoes and ultimately for the Canadian consumers buying the hash browns. So if it is the tariffs you are fighting, then it's best to fully educate yourself about whic tariffs are being paid by at which stage of the game.
My next choice might be any product prepared in Canada by a wholly Canadian owned firm, followed by prepared in Canada by any given foreign owned entity. You see where this is going. Buying grown in Canada, produced in Canada, warehoused in Canada and trucked or otherwise distributed in Canada by wholly owned 100% Canadian entities is likely a pipe dream.
Funny that the maple syrup got a "no", because last I heard we are the world's largest exporter of maple syrup. Some comes from the US, but not much, so ANYTHING with maple syrup is thanks to Canadian growers (whose tree farms could be owned by foreign entites!) Keeping it Canadian in a world where most Canadian manufacturing, other than some oil and gas refining, has been shut down in favour of foreign manufacturers will be difficult. That's the Global Village we live in. We will replace oranges from California with oranges from South Africa, grapes from California with grapes from Peru, etc, but wait - we already began that practice at least a decade ago!
I think the objective may not be so much to shop Canadian, because we dont grow a ton here anymore, but rather to NOT shop US. Meanwhile let's hope that we match their tariffs. They also need OUR goods. Maybe not produce, but oil and gas, electricity and raw lumber certainly get shipped to US in humongous amounts.
@@Tired67yrold-qw7wj. Thank you so much for breaking this down for us . Hopefully this makes us all sit up and take notice of how much we buy that is a US product and that we have the power to change our buying habits.
I vote for Canadian made products and what stores across Canada they can be found in would be helpful also. Unfortunately not all stores are Canada wide.
Most major food companies have processing plants in Canada, KraftHeinz, Coke, Pepsi, Catelli, Campbell's, Lays, and more. So, if you buy a case of Coke or a box of KD, you are most likely supporting Canadian jobs, even though it may be a US owned company.
I'm all for supporting Canadian first, but also keep in mind, if you are buying fresh, US grown fruits and veggies, there is a 50% chance that produce was trucked here by a Canadian trucker. Our economies are so intertwined, on both sides of the border, trying to buy Canadian only will not only be difficult, it doesn't really change the overall retail grocery scene and in some cases may hurt a secondary support business.
good points
Absolutely focus on Canadian owned and Manufactured products. I would also love to hear about more people staying in Canada rater than spend money travelling and Wintering in the USA.
