This week’s match: NWSL's Angel City FC v Washington Spirit

“The Debrief is a concept that comes from the U.S. Women’s National Team.
A sports psychologist came in before the 2019 World Cup to figure out the marginal gains - what could we do that no other team was going to be doing to win that World Cup?
We’d go on the field for 90-plus minutes. And no matter what happened - win, lose, or tie - we’d come back to the locker room, sit down, and debrief.
What did that look like? Everybody just getting out all of their energy on the past game. Their feelings. Their emotions. Holding each other accountable. Whether it was the good, bad, or ugly it was a time to expel all of our feeling about the game. And then we’d wipe our hands and say ‘onto the next game.’
Doing it collectively as a team was a game changer. It completely unlocked our ability to move through tournaments in a positive way.
So we took this concept and put it into this show. I’m going to watch one game every week, and then I’m going to just expel all of my feelings about the game and together we’ll Debrief.”

I have SO been waiting for ungated Tobin content!!
I see where Tobin Heath's hot take is coming from when ACFC should've won this game. Curry missed a header, A.Thompson should've sold the trip, but I also felt like Bright didn't get more time on the field.
Also, Washington did have chances to put the game out of reach in the 2nd half.
Regardless, the Spirit simply were too much for ACFC who's defense is now extremely vulnerable without Gorden for who knows how long.
tobin in an acfc jersey is not something i thought i would see....
the question is why wasn’t VAR used when it was a clear foul in the box? The reffing is always a roller coaster in the nasl but I thought VAR would help at least
Var is completely useless if you don't have the refs who know how to work it. But also, she went on and got her shot on goal, that means you no longer get a PK. If she had dropped it would have been a PK

Why oh why do players have to “fall” for refs to call the foul? Whyyyy? Also why do they always call a foul when someone falls lol
Cause refs are incompetent unfortunately
Because refs are not supposed to stop play unless it's necessary. If you keep going and shoot on goal clearly the ref didn't need to stop play
The defenders are absolutely brutal on that pitch 😢. Thankfully their season is almost over & it will be fixed. Rain right before the game also did not help.
Once more: when are we going to see you playing again, Tobin?
"...NWSLing' lol. Yes- What are they trying to do, indeed? I mean, isn't that the rub on US soccer- writ large? No clear structure, strategy, patterns of play, etc.- it's a lot of athletic people kicking the ball around, running after it.

Thanks, Tobin, for calling out the Spirit defender (Butel) who stupidly kept AC onside, creating an unnecessary scoring chance -- and THEN knocked in an own goal on the very same play. Ouch. I was screaming at my TV when I saw that happen: "What the hell are you doing!? Get your head in the game!!"
There really were 4 teams. That field was brutal
