Parallel chargers are definitely possible and are not limited by your household power. When charging 18V battery at 16A, that only requires about 300W of mains power. So you could theoretically charge at least 20 batteries at 8A from a single power outlet.

Yes, we had a discussion after the live stream and realised what we said wasn't correct...Just something we personally hadn't thought about properly until now. You are right a parallel charge is totally do-able. Perhaps we might do something like that in the future. Perhaps the next generation of multi bay chargers will feature parallel charging.

still waiting for a rothenberger amp share vacuum pump for aircon installs.
Idk why Bosch doesn’t make one as they already make aircon reclaim units which are just more complex pumps.

In 8Ah and 12Ah batteries parallel cells are directly connected together. Do small cylindrical cells in parallel slowly fail over time together or can one cell fail suddenly(only due to normal cycling without taking piercing or impact in consideration, ifall cells are matched by model, capacity and internal resistance)? Large battery builds that use prismatic LiFePo4 cells often use separate series packs(no parallel cells at all) with dedicated BMS for each and only such series packs are connected in parallel with a parallel balancer, to make sure that in case of failure of one of the cells it would not short out all the remaining cells in parallel.

Explanation of the batteries was brilliant guys

Hello! Does Bosch BMS permanently lock itself(does not allow charge or discharge if you replace all cells or a single cell, like laptops do) when single cell is overdischarged or the battery goes above certain amount of cycles?

Locally the Procore batteries are only a few dollars more, if you buy multiple batteries Procore are even cheaper than the standard. The way the Procore system is promoted it looks more like a replacement for the standard batteries than a higher end model of the standard batteries, especially when there is little difference in price. Ampshare it's just as bad, in all the promo they show the Procore but you can get a standard Ampshare Bosch battery. They need to just have the Procore lineup only - keep it simple.
Same with the connected lineup, some have bluetooth built in, some come with the module in the box and others require a module to be purchased separately and it's never clearly stated, they need it to be standardised so if it has a C on the product code the tool is ready out of the box to connect to bluetooth.

    I have several questions:
    1. Two of my 4.0 Procore batteries died, very light use. Maybe 50 to 100 charges over a year or 2. I have not registered batteries, so the decision was to open and check cells. Colclusion - each had 1 dead cell, so I managed to assemble one from 2 and it still works, although it only shows 4 bars, seems like BMS not working properly. Also getting only 4 bars on one 8Ah. Why that happened? 2 of 5 batteries (4 and 8 Ah) have little cracks on HDPE part. I handle them with extreme care, not been damaged due to fall.
    2. There was a leak like 2 years ago of a M class cordless dust extractor (GAS 18V -12). And still no news. Do Bosch is coming with something more suitable for dust extraction than 18V-10, but not as heavy as GAS35 or Karcher NT30?
    3. New multitool mention in this video is GOP 185-Li? It looks like a downgrade from 18V-28. No protection of the front part, which always bumps into everything. Is this due to Ampshare and 18V good multitool is now reserved to Fein? Please upgrade 12V multitool for quick change and brushless jigsaw like Milwaukee did recently.

    Hello Chis and Dan.
I bought the 18v hammer drill and its charger from the usa shipped it to kenya. When i plugged it in it burst into a cloud of smoke, guessing the capacitors blew up. Contacting the amazon seller he said it was meant for the US electric grid. Is this true or was the charger just defective?

@@BoschProfessionalUK Wrong! Who wouldn't want a 12Ah battery in a size and weight of a compact 4Ah battery while having 3x longer lifespan? Also higher charge and discharge current, lower heat. This is what graphene technology promises.

@Tardymo That's about $700 for an 18v battery. They wouldn't sell enough to justify r +d and production costs

My question about 18V parallel multicharger was answered with _Too much draw, too thick cable_ Thank you for answer but I must respectfully disagree. 8A charger does not draw 8A @ 230V, but rather 8A @ 18V. Well, its more, like 20-22V, so it draws 160-170W. With some heat losses lets say 200W. Standard 16A 230V wall plug can supply cca 3,5KW. You could put like 17 of such max 200W bays in 1 charger. With reserve lets say 15 of them. *So 8 bay is no issue* . Regarding thick cable -> yes, for sure thicker. You have tools with over 2KW draw that need thicker cables. It is just a cable after all.

We realised what we said was false once the LIVE stream had finished. We clearly hadn't thought about our answer long enough. Perhaps a future multi bay charger may be parallel version but we haven't seen anything yet

@@BoschProfessionalUK Thank you for answer, it is useful. I am not going to wait for it, will buy the sequential one and probably cannibalize it to create my own. GO TOOLS TV had good video about multibays (ua-cam.com/video/Thi2dK4jEoQ/v-deo.html). If I do not gravely misremember, Bosch was the only major brand without parallel. Metabo had a beast one (or was it Makita?). Anyway, I thought it is a must, especially with AMP share.

waiting for the Stack Battery from Bosch

    • @BoschProfessionalUK
      @BoschProfessionalUK  Рік тому

No need for a stack battery as our cells provide more than enough power to run corded equivalent cordless machines 👍 A stack battery is another style of battery and doesn't mean it provides anymore power than utilising cells.
