Gingee Fort, a medieval fort complex made up of Rajagiri and Krishnagiri Forts

Located in the Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, the Gingee Fort complex comprises of three forts, Rajagiri, Krishnagiri and Chakilidurg forming a part of the greater, twelve fort complex of Baramahal.
Gingee Fort stands as a remarkable example of medieval military architecture in India. It is a historic fort complex, exemplifying a rich history, and the cultural and social heritage of the region.
Emperors of the Vijayanagar Empire, rulers of Bijapur, the legendary Marathas, Hyder Ali of Mysore, the French and the British have all written chapters of its history, leaving an indelible mark on its storied past.
