Breaking Sonic Adventure 2 with Debug Edit Mode

- Hi, Hidden Palace released a late SA2 proto recently and I've been having so much fun with it due to it still having the most debug stuff out of any version of this game.
It has the same object editor as SADX Preview, so here's a vid of me messing around with it.
Also I switched to Redream for recording. It's much, much better than Demul for it.
(Wish the text had a bigger outline but oh well.)

When Sonic is hit by the hyperspeed GUN truck, he seems to put off the same effect as if he were falling through the atmosphere in one of the space stages. Does that mean that atmosphere effect is a constant for Sonic as an object, and he'll enter that state when moving fast enough?
Apparently so!
I don't think it's the same effect. The fire is triggered by a death plain. This effect is a sort of "bonk" effect being repeated over and over to LOOK like fire.
It's a bit hard to explain, but if you played SA2, you might have... Some idea?
@@solknuckles2408 ohh yeah I know what you mean, like running straight into a wall as Sonic, yellow and orange stars fly out like some Looney Toons shit. And that does make more sense, Sonic hitting a diagonal, downward-slanted invisible wall over the truck section, over and over and over. Cause you watch speedruns and no matter how fast they get this bitch going, he never starts burning up like in Final Rush.

I would give anything for you to do a video dissecting all the behind-the-scenes Chao stuff. Stuff like whether you can influence a Chao's face with how you hatch it. There was so much rumor and bullshit back in the day and I still don't know what to believe

I've always loved debug mode in every other Sonic game it was in.

it is interesting how sonic gives off the same particle effect when falling in final rush to when he gets hit by the gun truck, possibly indicating that this effect is a default for whenever sonic falls a great enough distance
