If you have the armasafe batteries, you can regen them. Mine were pulling .01 volts and .03 volts. I used a shuemaker charger 15a and let it do its revive or desulification process. It would error out. I would just keep unplugging it and replugging it to force it to retry when errored. Eventually it got to a point to where my battery tender could pick up on it. I think around 4 or 5 V. Once they got charged to 9v, i would. Hook them up and use the lights. Then plugged them back into the battery tender. It went from 10seconds to running the lights to 10 minutes to 10 hours and cranking the engine real well. This took about a 3weeks to get fully operational because it would take a few days to charge again once the battery was high enough capacity. They both run between 12.5~13.5v now My batteries expired in early 2012. So if you still got them, revive them. If working, people will pay money for them or you can use those instead of the flooded batteries.
Prices on military vehicles in general seem to be increasing, though the hike in Humvees surprised me a little bit as well, like a lot of shit I kinda assumed they'd always be around, lol.
built tires yesterday, and this pops up. got to disassemble some tires too, so me and the boys were jumping on a tire being held in the air by a crane until the middle came out and we all fell...good times
lmao @ a future where most humvees are sporterized Also big ups to Montana Man who in the 90s purchased demilled AH-1 Cobra parts to build a working one.
@Brad Carter Ron Garlick in Montana and Alex Sparks in Texas had purchased demilled fuselages that weren't demilled properly. Essentially a ton of companies being contracted to demil stuff weren't totally destroying the parts so working pieces ended up on the market. I think this was also how Iran ended up with some F-14 spares.
As much as people talk shit about them they aren’t really that bad. Aside from being slow, loud, uncomfortable, and otherwise shitty I personally drove a super old High back (troop carrying variant) for an hour at highway speeds in second gear because it wouldn’t upshift. Didn’t overheat and didn’t die, as shitty as they are they will operate poorly longer than most things will operate.
@@bfgmovies Ah then I wish you the best of luck and hope it works out! I know they make motor swap kits for the Humvee that might be useful if it proves to be too temperamental. But a big negative would I think be that it would go against your idea of using it in reenactment since it'd sound "different".
Good luck getting that thing to run good. When we DRMO'd HMMWVs we took all the shitty parts off our good vehicles and put them on our shitty vehicles. Even the good ones ran like shit
wait, what the hell kind of market could these even have? you almost never would have a practical use rather than just for fun, and it's a lot of money and work for that no matter how you slice it. how could the supply of this "dry up" when it probably outnumbers the people who want them so ridiculously. agree civilian humvees are ghey
You would be surprised, there is a huge market to "Convert" them into daily drivers, or H1 style, or "off road, but road legal beasts". In fact, there are many companies who specialize in bastardizing them into their own product lines of customized Humvees, take "Plan B Trucks" as an example. It's pretty lame.
@@bfgmovies Are military configured ones basically impossible to make street-legal without compromising what they are? It'd be nice to be able to drive it on the road legally, but significantly silly.

Insane, since it was a live round I presume event insurance doesn't cover it? 🙏 Best wishes to him.

Great Humvee content and extremely knowledgeable. Please keep the videos coming. I would love to see the journey getting her all fixed up.

Cool project, hope you´ll keep us updated
yup! I have some videos recorded fixing things up on it, just need to be edited now
Bro I love the Humvee one of my dream vehicles keep the videos coming brother
Can I ask what you got it for? I got mine 3 years ago for $7200. Fired right up and I've driven it for # years now.
some of the m1165a1 models are going for crazy money
Best intro ever
How much did you pay for this?
556/223 aks74u magazines that are bakelite and functional, would you know where I could find some for my zastava m85?
Only Russia made so called "bakelite" magazines which in the west is used to refer to the orange colored mags, and none were ever made for .223/5.56
Hell yes
Cool car, congrats!
Cool. Still want a Tatra 8x8, lol.

Congrats on your purchase! I was curious, is it true that the humvee motors can be temperamental?
Thanks!
I hear the 6.5L ones are better than the 6.3L,
Guess I'll find out how it treats me.

Dude, you're killing it. Jealous as fuck over here. I would love to get one of those but the offroad only bs is the only thing.
depending on your state you can get them tiled for on-road use
I'd trade you a ride in the czech for a ride in a ural motorcycle
I can appreciate the hobby/military aspect but those humvees are heavy underpowered turd boxes . The blackout lights are pretty cool 😎
