Extremely knowledgeable! I am building my custom suspension for my 2020 Tundra. It is a daily driver, but will overland and light offroad with it, travel, and occasionally haul, so I don't need anything too crazy. I just want to lift my truck, but have the reliability, quality, and capability. After this I am definitely, for my application, am getting the Camburg UCA's. Great video and thanks for helping me understand the differences between the brands UCA's. I was debating between Freedom Offroad, Bilstein, Camburg, and JBA's, and Icon. Wheew...tough competition and tough choice. I don't need anything too crazy because i am not rock climbing or doing heavy off-roading with my Tundra since it's my daily as well. I do plan on buying a Tacoma built for overlanding/off-roading in the future, in a few years after I retire from the service.

If you guys did this video with some information about what kinds of forces the UCA and UBJ endure, it would be a Toyota owner must-see. If you did, though, it would reveal that most of these options are overkill for anything that isn’t desert racing… even the SPC is overkill for any trail you can get an IFS vehicle up. Any Toyota truck owner looking to mod should watch this video. ⭐️

Just for knowledge sharing's sake, not at all a criticism. Those Dobinson UCAs are drop forged 6082 aluminum then CNC machined, not actually billet. Most of the billet arms on the market (Icon, Camburg, etc) are made from 6061. Good info!

    Dobinsons Billet >
have had SPC, balljoints don't last even with regular Moly grease application, almost every set ive installed has come back for balljoints within 2-3 years. Thats ridiculious imho... Have had Dobinsons standard duty, they are good but couldn't get the alignment perfect so jumped on the billet soon as they came out. You don't really see any BJ or bushing failures with the factory style parts. Install and keep them clean, like you said and forget about them. The rest, no so much...

Very informative video. I can definitely see the benefits of aftermarket upper control arms, especially as regards geometry correction. But most of these strike me as somewhat overbuilt for most needs. I especially struggle with the cost of upper control arms. The price seems so high given the relative simplicity. The 4x4 shop I had my lift done at was inspecting everyone with SPCs and SPC fully owned the issue and gave anyone with X-axis issues new ones. What no one really talks about is wha the built in high caster does. They all push the tire closer to the cab mount thereby causing tire rub. It would be much smarter to use an adjustable lower control arm. But so far I’ve inklusive found one manufacture that makes one that pushes the tire 1” forward away from the cab mount and thereby increasing positive caster.

To say that a billet design is always stronger than a tubular design is not entirely correct. The main reason a company would create a billet design is to have it perform mechanically as intended while also having greater dimensional control because of the machining process. Additionally there is no welding so it removes that procedure out of the manufacturing process. I would almost guarantee the number one reason Total Chaos does not do a billet is because of cost and their internal expertise. They can get the same amount of performance out of tubular design and remove the machining procedure out of their manufacturing process. Tubular is going to be cheaper to manufacture when compared to running and maintaining a $100k CNC machine.
Also you cannot judge the strength of tube by just the outer diameter; the inner diameter and material are equally important factors.

Wrong on why they all use tube.. they do tubing because it's cheaper and more cost effective to make. And I've also heard that straight from horses mouth. Even solo Motorsports went from boxed upper arms to tube because it's easier and faster to make..

So much misleading info in the industry.
    1. The uca takes no real bending load. It just keeps the upper suspension vertical and takes horizontal load only. Lots of hype.
    2. The real variables are bushing longevity.and corrosion for some. Also clearing some larger coils. Avoid urethane! Terrible cheap bushing. Any helm joints are for racing, not a wise choice for most. rubber rules; Best shock absorption.
    3. 90% of us want easy maintenance. Meaning use of stock ball joints. Low cost, always available. No need for super flexible ball joints 30:41 unless building 3 or 4 inch lifted rock crawler which is 5% of us. Stock is great.
    4. most dont know that stock uca is good for 2 to 2.5 lift and alignment is set in LOWER control arm which moves tire FORWARD to clear. Adding caster up top moves wheel back which is bad for clearance.
    5. You can clear 34 inch tires by avoiding wheel spacers, using 2 inch lift. Using simple uca, keeping wheel/tire inboard.
Dont buy into thinking these uca’s are going to solve problems. If ever a uca breaks, many other parts would be trashed, they are not a weak link!
Get ball joints that are reliable and available at any parts store. And very few people would ever adjust a uca laterally. Sure, for alignment at the ball joint for large lift perhaps. First move the LCA FORWARD!!
Marketing hype is out of control. Consult a real engineer.

Uniballs are a squeeky pain in the ass. Theyre not great for a daily driver. Race trucks swap them out all the time.

Ive had SPC on my 1st Gen tundra since 20’ and have beat the snot out of them with no issues. I just purchased another 1st Gen to build and the price for the SPC have gone up over $200! Now I’m looking at other brands that are cheaper. Damn Biden’s America has ruined prices!!😂

Old man emu kits are meant for weight. Not really the best kit for a lift.

Great video…I lifted my taco 2 inches and want to upgrade my uca but it’s between dirt kings and dobinsons…what would recommend?
