Thank you! We're thrilled to see that you picked up on the reference and intentions of our design and production work on this project, which meant a great deal to all of us at ScareHouse. As you noted, there were some limitations and post-design changes due to Covid19 and other factors - but Kennywood deserves considerable praise for maintaining their commitment to opening and operating this classic tribute to old school dark rides, even in the midst of a pandemic and the many other challenges presented in 2020. Thanks for posting this!
As usual, you did an outstanding job. I am always amazed at your extreme attention to detail and your knowledge of Kennywood history for being such a young guy. I could watch your videos all day. If I owned Kennywood, I would hire you specifically to make your Phantom's Revenge changes from your other video.
Great video man! I’ll miss Garfield’s Nightmare since that’s the version I grew up with but it’s cool to see these changes. Also loved the use of the Sonic Hero’s Soundtrack in the video as well. Good work man!
I kind of feel the same way. Even though it wasn't great, I spent a decent portion of my childhood riding it and I will miss it. That being said, I'm also happy to have this new version of the Haunted Hideaway back.
My thoughts are exactly the same, I still really do miss the outdoor sections as it made the original unique. But overall, I feel it is a really great ride, as the old mill of the 90s was my favorite ride in the park, and still would be today. Though I think the outdoor was scrapped beacuse of safety concerns or something with them blocking it off when they made Garfields nightmare. But honestly the ride looks great! Can't wait to ride it after the virus.
I work this ride and this is easily the most insight I could ever ask for. Heck, if anything I should be the one knowing the boating the best haha. Great vid
Great video man! Since they are going to continue adding more props to the ride, does anyone think they might add the giant spider from gold rusher? I know it's in ghostwood estates right now, but I think it would be awesome if it dropped towards people after the hallway with the spiders. That thing scared the shit out of me as a kid!
8:35 Old Mill was the first dark ride I've ever ridden and it never scared me either, Old Mill was always meant to be one of Kennywood's tame dark rides.
Lovely video! I'm hoping to get out to Kennywood someday when the pandemic is over! I've never been much for dark rides (I've done probably one dark ride in my entire life lol), but I've heard a ton of secondhand hate for Garfield's Nightmare. Nevertheless, you've managed to make yet another interesting video about something I didn't realize I cared about until now! Thanks for the great content as always! Also, I've gotta ask - what OST is that very last song from? It's tickling something in the back of my memory, but I cannot for the life of me remember what it is. Either way, I dig it!
Thanks for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! I'm sorry for the late reply, but all the music in this video is from the game Sonic Heroes. That last track is from the level Mystic Mansion. I like to use video game soundtracks whenever I can!
Did you get to ride The Exterminator this year? Nearly all the effects have been fixed. I was actually scared riding it because I was thinking "who knows what else they fixed?"
Some of my first memories of Kennywood are riding the Haunted Hideaway so it's nice to a return to form for one of the oldest rides in the park. I am however severally saddened by the loss of the Kangaroo, Bryan's Kurve, and the Paratrooper the two former especially because it makes nervous for other classic rides in the park like The Turtle for example.
Do you think scarehouse and kennywood will change it out of the blacklight theme eventually and make it closer to the original with outdoor scenes? I know they were short on time because of Covid. I just wonder if they had another plan for this attraction but couldn’t do it because of time
I do think the ride's intro video should say "Old Mill Presents..." before saying "Harold's Hideaway!" but I otherwise think the ride is fine the way it is.
The coyotes were never a part of the Old Mill from the past. They were always in Gold Rusher, then used as props for Phantom Fright Nights. I’m glad to see them being reused in the “new” Old Mill. The train is also the original from the Gold Rusher by the way. It too was used as part of the theming for Fright Nights as well as a decorative backdrop near the 3D theater for when they showed The Polar Express during Holiday Lights.
On another note, I have not ridden this ride yet. While its definitely better than Garfield, I was expecting a bit more with technology. I would not say I am disappointed and admire the tributes but for some reason I was hoping for more/
Compared to the Old Mill I grew up with in the 90s, this is not as good. But It's 10,000% better than the Garfield ride. That thing was atrocious. Though I still think Gold Rusher and Le Cachot were better dark rides...

For someone reason even tho everyone was happy about Garfield's Nightmare leaving, I feel sad that it's gone

This looks better than the original. The colors really pop up!

I'm only 29 from WV been to Kennywood about close to 20 times love the place can't wait to check this out

Hardheaded Harold's Horrendously Humorous Haunted Hideaway.
@@protorhinocerator142 I was 2 when they dropped that name. XD
That intro! 👌
Gotta keep your eyes on Harold...

Pandemic will never be over. Just go to Kennywood.
In the bank scene, I have to believe that the “Savings and Bones” is harking to the “Building and Loan” from It’s a Wonderful Life

Sounds great! Is the button in the queue fixed?
I did ride it recently, but I didn't really notice anything that had changed. What were some of the effects you noticed?
@@kaydub0623 yes!!! I got the alarm to buzz! It will only go off if the control panel and TV's are turned off.

Where did you get the golf rusher train lights on video and the other pictures of gold rusher effects?

I'm pretty sure that the coyotes were always in the Gold Rusher. Awesome video though!

I remember when I was little Garfields nightmare scared the the shit out of me
CAT STEW YUM YUM
Kinda reminds me of Mr. Toads Wild Ride with the luminescent paint and chaos
The coyotes were never in the previous version of the Old Mill, they were always in the Gold Rusher before it closed
Thats what I remember too. But I would have never thought they were also at Fright Nights either and he showed the photo
There’s a youtube video show long them in the haunted hideaway

Hey it's me again I'm going to Hershey Park tomorrow any tips about candymanium
Keep up good work fine vid.
Based on videos, I think there are a few too many empty sections.
Please tell me, there isn’t a skunk smell
There is not a skunk smell, so don't worry!
I thought the same thing. Would it not have been a great effect to have the skunk spray but it be a good scent just to scare everyone.

The ride really doesn't tell much of a story but at least it doesn't irritate me like Garfield did.
