I am mesmerized by this young woman's raw natural talent. Cecile McLorin Salvant's voice has the smoothness like Sarah Vaughn, the ability to go high and low down like Ella Fitzgerald, and has a uniqueness like Billy Holiday. I expect her to have a meteoric rise in the jazz world. I look forward to enjoying her music along the way!
Accurate prediction!
I like that she has her own style. Beautiful voice and stage presence. Beautiful!
Saw this exact duet live last night in Camp Hill, bravo to both!! Cecile will no doubt be the legendary jazz singer we will be talking about for decades to come. If you have a young jazz singer take her to see Cecile, she was an inspiration to my young daughter.
Wow.. she is the real deal... incredible voice!
This young woman IS reassurance that jazz music is as well off as it's ever been.Cecile, like jazz, will never be counted out.
Beautiful! I can hear Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughn shining through. An amazing and inspiring performance!
Cecile is doing her thing... Let's not forget however that this Double Bass player threw it down.. Sheeesh
T.
she is incredible...blew my mind today on the 1st tune i listened to...THEN i found this one...my good friend is going to see her show tonight in Pittsburgh, PA...thank you for the upload-age... ;)
what an amazing voice
I'm loving how she's having fun with her Diane schuur, and Sarah vaughn impressions
Paul Sikivie on Bass
verdadeiro fenômeno que surge a cada 50 anos!!! o máximo!!!! vai de Sassy a Lady Day na mesma frase...
Fantastic performance
she is a super athlete in singing, why do i miss the blues
I keep thinking of Betty Carter as I'm listening to this piece; something about her raw, bold and unapologetic interpretations that Ms McLorin also seems to (luckily) prefer. Not to mention the bonus of zero heavy, porny breathing some modern vocalists seem to go for. Gold.
Magnifique!
Pure magic!!...
Love her!
Betty Carter has come back to life! Loving it!
what a talent!!
There is NO MUSIC without musicians!
Who are they?
YES
This lady, is the greatest vocal Jazz talent from the last 20 years. No doubt: many have been cited in the past, but this lady singing qualities are from another level. Sorry Diane Krall, Jane Monheit, even Dianne Reeves (who I like very much).
very fine vocalist, sweet interpretation...
LOve it, great!
Betty carter mark 2. Wonderful!
Interesting rendering of such a classic. Takes a lot of nerve to go there. Bravissima:-)
Sublime performance. This is true jazz vocalisation in the classic style of Billy Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita Oday etc etc.
Tutti i miei preferiti artisti jazz sono morti, ma posso ancora ascoltarli
masterful
yeah paul
This girl's got some Sassy in her with a bit of Billie to top it off! Plus she swings her butt off!
Perfect pitch another Ella the best !!!👏
have i heard anything any better than this? not for a real long time, if ever.
to Lesley McKinley
You're so right, girl! And love that photo of you!
невероятное выспупление!
Anyone know who the bassist is?
Paul Sikivie.
Exceptional. Just exceptional. But take a listen to Scat World with Maysa Leakes and Ledisi not to mention Round Midnight by Jazmine Sullivan. Those three vocalists are exceptional as well.
+jonesing88 Love Jazmine, Ledisi-phenonenal. Not sure Maysa belongs in this group, she plays it too safe for me.
She's a mixture of Billie and Sarah..good to the last drop.
Tell us who the bass player is, so unfair not to credit him on the screen.
Beautiful...I closed my eyes and thought I was listening to Billie Holiday.
Nice and nasty! - just like I like it!
Betty puts the Meaness in the Mean to Me...she hits you over the head with a velvet hammer and the rapture of COURVOISIER.....PURE vocal gymnastics, conspicuous and gratuitous...at a loss for gesture ....give me some cigar smoke please and a few nodules...
TALENT?? Unquestionably vocally gifted..excuse me, I need a Sweater...
Homegirl definitely has skills and has a great voice but we did not like the arrangement at all.
I like her eyeglasses tribute to Urkel.
:)
assomant...
ouch//paul is fine; she is painful to listen to !
She is talented but this Betty Carter’s style is annoying. At least she is not a cabaret or pop singer.
