@@coolguy02536 chain n sickle r acually a very weak weapon for killing in an acual fight with one if u miss you'd have to spend the entire fight recovering AND fighting... no swordsman would lose to this unless theyd simply never seen it and had no brain
It's rather impressive to pull off a demonstration with those techniques as it is extremely easy to accidentally hurt someone with a chained weapon - especially when you attack the neck.
This is a demonstration of Masaki-ryu Fukuhara-ha Kusarigama-jutsu. The individual on the right, wielding the Kusarigama, is Katsuse Yoshimitsu Kagehiro serving as the 12th generation Soke of this Tradition. He also serves as the 15th generation Soke, or headmaster of the Suio-ryu Iai Kenpo.
Exactly, a demonstration! Think about much self-restraint it takes for these dudes to not use their skills at maximum capacity when that's what they train for every day, the amount of respect and trust that the demonstrators have for each other to tone down the notches all so we can have a display of the awesomeness of close-quarters combat. A demonstration can be more fulfilling to the eye than an actual fight. To actually see two masters simulate their skill and technique instead of an actual rivalry of skill and technique used to be very rare.
@@hedgehogevader530 I meteor hammer with an American lock on each end of a 6tf chain that is 1/4 inch it weighs 13lbs total. I hurts me more than anything and it makes sparks on my gravel driveway. I pray every night I wake up with my skull and teeth intact when i use it. One hit, one kill.
well i suspect it would basically be two guys being very careful staying just out of range and taking pot shots until one guy makes a mistake and gets cut or knocked down, effectively losing the fight instantly, or both guys get injured in a mutual strike and whoever recovers first or is dealt non lethal damage (if anyone) would finish off the opponent quickly.
I have seen two variations of the kasurigama, one with the chain attached at the top and one with the chain attached at the bottom. What advantages and disadvantages do these different variations have on the weapon use?
As they are mostly used in a similar way, top of the weapon means more control of the chain, but it can get in the way of swinging the weapon after you have them bound and can slow down blocking, while bottom you risk tangling the chain a bit but have more freedom to use the weapon part to attack or block.
I would like to know if there is a reason behind the location of the chain attachment point to the kama. In this video it is attached to the top of the kama near the blade. Seems like it would be prone to tangle there.
Oh, I get what you mean. Yeah, I understand what you mean. It seems to make sense for the blade to be on the bottom, not the top, but I assume that they must have a reason for its placement.
This is just my guess but by having it on the opposing end gives the user more leverage and control over the chain. Having it attached at the bottom would also cause the blade of the sickle to swing around towards the user should the chain be pulled by the enemy, whereas having it at the opposing end will only cause the blade to be pulled away from the user should the chain be grabbed by the enemy.
You should never ever try blocking a vertical slash with an empty hand upward block except in the case of emergencies. The first attack he blocked it with an Ageuke instead of using the Scythe, didn't seem safe.
