Basic question but how did you make the MIDI for the new Kick and the Break Slicer show up on the same grid so that you could line up the Kicks where the old ones were?
Hey there George, just holding shift when you select the second midi clip should do it. Heres a quick video explaining multi clip editing. ua-cam.com/video/lxDYmYaaIk0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Ableton Hope this helps.
Hi. Could you maybe explain what those preset settings on the Simpler do to the actual break slices? How would the slices differ if yo werent to do all of that?
Hey pal, the filter can be used to cut out the low end of the sample. Transpose will shift the pitch of the samples higher or lower. Raising the attack will mean the samples volume raises from low to high slower and the decay relates to the end of the sample. They wont make too much of an audible change but will help eliminate any sharp cuts of sound and help the samples flow into each other better. Hope this helps :)
Hey Frankie, you could slice to the transient with warp markers but i like having the slices the same size. Defo try the warp markers if you want to really spice up the variation :)
Thanks for sharing this video, its really helpful! Question - do you know where I can find the breakbeat sample you're using, or similar types of breaks?
Thanks Mark, I get a lot of my breaks from a popular sample pack called Jungle 1989-1999. There's usually a free link to download it somewhere although the last link I had doesn't seem to be working :/
You're in luck, by massive coincidence I heard of this pack earlier today and found it after a bit of searching, someone has a working link here : www.reddit.com/r/TechnoProduction/comments/jjl29z/samples/?
When using a sliced-to-midi break I am getting some weird popping artefacts during playback. I have ensured the samples are at the zero cross and adjusted the attack so it isn't quite so fast & yet I'm still getting the pops, any ideas what could be causing this?
@@visalehtinen4239 Hmm it might be that this isnt a feature included in the Lite version of Ableton. If its not that you might be able to find some answers here: www.ableton.com/en/manual/converting-audio-to-midi/

Straight forward and to the point. I like that you had made your own preset within 0:55 of the video. No needless stuff

Have you tried an arpeggio to trigger different slices of a break in simpler? It's a lot of fun if you want to play around with it live.

Awesome videos, thanks! What does sidechaining the compressor to the kick achieve?
Hey Jakob. It just ducks out any of the break to make room for the kick so its more punchy.
@@scenes1119 Ah makes sense! Thanks

could you make a video of how you make a break song from the beginning?
