Great review, can the USB - C Out or Program Out be used to record or is recording only done on the big SSD connected to the device?
Great video and you almost answered all my questions. :-) I have two questions: 1. does the switcher ingest various resolutions and frame rates and automatically convert so you can mix and match sources without having to break out all the converters? The BMD Mini does and that is a MASSIVE MUST HAVE feature for me. 2. Does the ATOMOS rig record individual streams or only the PGM? (not a must have but nice to have) I currently use a BMD Video Assist + ATEM Mini Pro but the ATOMOS rig seems more practical for me. Looks like I could make good use of the BMD 5" Video Assist as a preview or PGM out monitor.
Will this work to connect to a normal photocamera without recording capabilities? (With HDMI ofc)
Thank you Nino -- GREAT VIDEO -- what model is that neat SmallHD monitor you have on your desk there? Is it 7" size? Works well with the Atomos 5" screen and what a great little setup on your desk,
I also have a ATEM 810 pro ISO switcher I can set it up to be just switcher & record 4K video to my Ninja 5 & just use the ATEM as a switcher. Can do this with the Atomos CastX?
can you still record video on the ninja while it is being used as a switcher?

Wow! I think this is an absolute "home run" and genius move by Atomos! I have been using an ATEM Mini (going into my Atomos Ninja Inferno) and I have noticed the quality of the HDMI passthrough is NOT the same as going directly into the Atomos, not just because it's only 1080p, but ALSO because it seems to add color saturation and contrast to the image...not something I like (when I have carefully calibrated each camera). I was also thinking of adding a Ninja V to my kit, and now with the fact that this whole kit is less than $1000 and INCLUDES the Ninja V...I might be selling both the ATEM Mini and my old Atomos Inferno to do this
But it doesn't allow you to record both or all videos lol that's sucks
@@thepartyrodigo9228 Hi! That would be a really nice thing to see in a firmware update, if the on-board computing power is sufficient, etc. Good idea, I really like that. When the ATEM Mini was first introduced, a lot of people were asking about this same kind of thing, and they added it to the ISO version (it records an XML file that you can load into your video editor ALONG WITH CLIPS FROM EACH CAMERAS' MEMORD CARDS, and you can improve the edit points...

I BOUGHT THIS AND THE FIRMWARE HAD TO BE UPDATED BUT THE USB-C DOESNT WORK BOTH B&H AND ATOMOS SAYS IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR REPAIRED BUT SINCE IM STILL WITH IN MY RETURN PERIOD IM GETTING RID OF THIS AND LOOKING ELSE WHERE. THIS IS NOT A RELIABLE PRODUCT IT HAS LOTS OF ISSUE'S
