That's called a demodash. It's a special type of dash that gives Madeline a crouched hitbox, and it can be used to squeeze between spikes, among many other interesting usages
You can see at 8:17 that he's using a demo button. The input panel on the bottom would show a fast tap on down if he was doing manual, but there's no such tap. It's pretty easy to just go into settings.celeste and just bind a button to both down and dash (which makes a demo button) or if you have Everest (mod installer/runner) you can do it in-game in the button config section. (iirc it's also possible with controller easier but I don't remember as I use keyboard). If you use Keyboard and have Everest installed, in the keyboard config section in your in game settings just hold shift and confirm on anything to bind a 2nd button to the same control.
@Projecteer I had a feeling that was the case. I play on Keyboard and I don't have Everest, but from what you've said it should be relatively easy to make my own demo key. Thanks

Do you use a Demo-key or do you do demo-dashes manually? I haven't put the effort in to mess with keybinds through the game code

@@MrMalix if you need help deathkontrol made a demo button guide.
demo key is a really good investment, youll be using it in places you would never think to use it otherwise just because of the convenience
