I really hate the fact that scalpers raised the price for this figure so much. It's such an awesome design, but there's no way in hell I'm paying that much for it. At most, I'd pay $250 CAD.
I want it too because I have every seed kit that counts including p bandai kit's. But... fkn $400? No fkn way brothers and sisters!!! I can get 2 or 3 nice metal builds for that much!!! 😢

Well, if you paint your Gunpla, just get the MG Red Frame Kai, Blue Frame 2nd, 3rd party Effect Wing and MG Destiny. (Yes, that flight pack is Blanche, but that's P Bandai)..... That total cost is cheaper. And it's almost exactly as this one but you'd get the extra Frame and Destiny Gundam. The only thing you'd be missing is decals.
Astrays are definitely a classic and great looking design. The problem is that if you've built one, you've built them all. You really gotta love them to keep building the same legs chests and arms over and over and over and over again, whether it's RG, MG, PG or what have you.
Kinda like the impulse... I own all 5 mg versions from seed/astray. Only difference is color and backpacks. Still my favorite overall seed kit but still... yeah.
@@michaelfuller7635 I can definitely imagine. I have the standard MG Force Impulse and I liked building it, it's good for what it is and how old it is, but I wouldn't like to build them repeatedly. The difference is that the RG Force Impulse is a genuine 10/10 kit, possibly the best RG kit they've made, and a much different experience from the MG and I absolutely loathe the Impulse, which speaks to how much I respect the model :D
That is an Astray Blue Frame 2nd L body with a Standard Astray Head, Destiny Pack and a pair of Red Frame Katana... Now all I need is git gud in painting...

Also it is sad to hear that the price has skyrocketed. When it was first released here in Korea it was only around 80~90$. It was a limited item so the price problem was to be expected but still quite unfortunate. I believe it's hard to get in Korea as well. You probably won't find it in any Gundam Bases.
the mg astray actually has a p good ab joint, it works like the rg nu where its on a "lever" that you have to pull out. its just tight on new builds. pulling it out allows for a lot of front back and side to side movement.
As much as I want this.....not for that price. I paid 320-ish USD (in a payment plan, so probably a bit more) for my Mecha King Ghidorah, and that came with all sorts of accessories, including a pair of battle damaged wings. Besides that, I'm just loving what they did with the katanas. It's such a simple change, making them transparent red instead of chromed, but the payoff is huge. Certain angles and lighting in the video definitely gave them the appearance of being a pair of red chromed katanas, and it just feels like the Nu Gundam's katana beam saber and the 00 Quanta's GN Sword V were funneled into this.
my first and so far only custom waas a MG redframe modified and painted to resemble Rin from blue exorcist, the modifications were on the sword to make it look like Rin's sword
This kit is so hard to get in Korea too. It’s because Bandai Namco Korea mainly uses this kit as a bait to make people participate in some important events like the expo. As a Korean, I kinda feel like I’m being scammed because they named it as Korean exclusive kit and you don’t have a chance to get it unless you are a jobless and have all the time you want to line up in a queue…
$400?! Jesus, I guess I got lucky: I paid $190 before Christmas. Expedited international shipping pushed it to $230. Haven't had time to build her yet as my backlog is decent. Also need to get my grubby hands on a proper display case for everything.
The clear red plastic makes me think of the Sandrock Gundam that had similar plastic for when the heat blades were activated. Edit: Either Heat blades or High Frequency Blades similar to the Muramasa Blade from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. The second thing is that backpack was originally based on the Destiny Impulse R silhouette pack.
I think the blades are heat swords like sandrock, also I don’t think the old hands are that bad I mean my real hands when relaxed looks just like that so that’s more realistic
Specific locking mechanism are my kryptonite. The MG zaku warrior/ginn have a simple locking point in its shoulder but if you mess it up the shoulder won’t move. I found this the hard way breaking both my Lunamaria version shoulder piece.

Does anyone have the Daban 6659 of this kit? How is it? I’m not able to get this Bandai kit and might have to settle for the Daban 6659 because I love Astray gundams.
Its releasing in november i actually ordered one, i expect the usual DABAN quality which is "almost like the original" some small easily fixed fitting problems here and there and i don't know why but they always use a different shade of white its very subtle almost not noticiable but once you see it, well you still pretty mucn can't tell the difference specially on display

The kit was an event exclusive, available in the Gundam Expo 2023 COEX (not in the actual GundamBase). The product was available for one day (stock ran out) in select Gundam Base Korea stores later on, but man is it hard to get even for Koreans

I've only built a couple HGs lol but I guess thats understandable if you don't have space either. My backlog with mg sized boxes is not great for the mind when it fills up the bedroom 😂

I mean it's a cool unit And all But it's not one that should have been a Limited base exclusive unit Because they can just reprint this with different colors shoulders Swords V fin And just call it the Astray noir di algada pack as a regular release, But oh right where's the money in that Make a model that a lot of people actually want We won't make enough money out of that Even though we just took runners from A bunch of different models and slapped it together in a box With different colored Plastic put into the mold When making those runners and a bunch of brand new stickers
i just would have wished, that bandai had included some modern style replacement hands with the kit. Im just so sick and tired of the three conjoined finger stile hands constantly dropping everything they hold on older master grades. just thinking about it kills all of my desire for building these kits in my backlog. I tried looking for replacements, but the dalin model ones are just to expensive for only one set of hands. and i haven`t found any that i cud 3d print my self either.

Heads-Up: There are no MG Strike Noir parts in this kit, and the backpack originally appeared on the MG Destiny Impulse R (the Impulse Blanche is a recolor of that kit).
i see no reason that this is priced at $400 especially if its just parts from older kits. Being 'event/location exclusive' means nothing, i feel like your just paying for a simple stand and fancy wings and some dope ass katanas. Beautiful kit just not worth $400 in 2024 for 15 years

I think the Katana blades are meant to be Heat Blades. The effect parts are the same color and opacity as the effect parts for the MG Sandrock EW for it’s Heat Blades
Sad it hasnt a hg version. The price is much scarcity than bandai because it was an anniversary special only for korea. It is sad that scarcity have is way with gunpla like with everithing and people stop saying you want bootleg version. Bootleg is illégal and will kill gunpla.

I went to GBK last November. This was out of stock. Chose to get the clear MG F90 as consolation, especially since the F90 is normally P-Bandai.
In my country it’s almost twice the price MGEX strike freedom. It’s called artificial scarcity. Bandai knows its products & customers well

I think the Destiny Gundam's wings clash with the overall angular ascetic of the Astray. Probably would have been better with the Freedom's Wings.

The Destiny wings are still an engineering eye sore to me (much prefer the Freedom’s or Noir’s wings). But that color scheme is still pretty great.

Topcoat won’t ruin decals, but it will definitely protect them. So decal first, topcoat after.
