I don't count calories but I have much respect for the principle of caloric density for losing or maintaining weight. Having said that however, it drives me crazy when I hear people insist popcorn should be avoided because it's calorically dense at around 1200 calories per pound. Granted this might be an issue if you somehow manage to regularly wolf down a whole pound of raw kernels... but since just one single ounce of kernels at a mere 74 calories air pops into around 2 1/2cups of popcorn... with healthy fiber, satisfying crunch, and great satiation, I don't understand the rationale! This is a unique circumstance... unlike most foods where taking out the moisture concentrates caloric density... when corn pops and blows off moisture (and even some calories from the exploding husks) and inflates dramatically into fluffy, nearly weightless, little crunchy tidbits that have minimal caloric impact, I will continue to enjoy it... within reason!
Have you tried to pop in the instant pot. I saw a few videos for that when I was looking for an air popper. I’m wondering, however, if it will burn without oil. The videos used oil.
