He was 13 when he became a trainee & 15 when he debuted as the main vocalist. He’s singing about losing his teenage years & was it worth it. In the end he decides it was worth it. Suga has said before he used to worry about JK because he was in the spotlight before he even knew who he was & he used to look lost at times but somewhere along the way he found himself & who he is.

When he says “Happy that we met each other”, it feels to me that he’s talking about his past and present self. An acceptance of who he has become even if getting to that point or growing up into that person was difficult.

This was the moment where ARMY no longer saw him as a cute kid (bunny), but saw him as a man. I have always felt that the dance represents the acceptance of who he is now. It can't have been an easy transition into adulthood with that many eyes on him. Also an acceptance of his own sexiness. He unfortunately had been sexualized from a young age and he was on the more introverted side, but now he has made it his own. He took it back for himself. Does this make sense to you? It's like picking up the mantle of sex symbol and being okay with it, but making it on your own terms.
He is a wonder. Talented beyond words. I am so grateful that I found them. 😘💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Mans was in spotlight 24/7, moved all the way from his home town to the big city at 13, left his parents to live with 6 older guys he didn’t know. Started working all day everyday, didn’t have time for school or time to be a kid/teen. Of course he was scared and has certain regrets or doubts, he could hardly be himself with everyone judging his every move. I hope he’s fully satisfied and happy with himself and his decisions. He deserves all the love, wish him all the happiness.

we can only guess he was going through a lot of struggles growing up. being under such pressure since you are 15 year old, when you don't really know yourself that much and can't be fully yourself with the audience that expects certain things from you and don't even have time really to explore yourself. he showed us once a demo of a song he never released - Decalcomania, where he talks about how people see him as someone perfect and he is envy of that image of himself because he doesn't feel like he lives up to it. being 15 yo unexperienced kid in a big world with the role of the main vocalist of the group that have only one chance to survive is a lot to handle
Jungkook in a recent YouQuiz interview: "After I debuted I was the main vocal (in BTS). The main vocals of other groups, they were great singers. They were great dancers, handsome and cool. What... am I?... Can I be the main vocal of this team? I had to show improvements and accomplishments. I thought that the only person who could act and make a change was myself. From that moment i deleted the idea of a vocal training hour in my head. In the car, in the shower, of the 24 hours day i tried to sing and was singing during every possible minute"
there was a period of time (around 2019?) when jungkook barely appeared on social media, barely posted anything, it was a radio silence, and i also remember boys talking about it, wait, i'll find a quote. it's from 2020 festa dinner they had, the question was what you feel sorry about for the ** member, and Jin said about Jungkook "I haven't felt bad or dissapointed in Jungkook often, but if i have to say, it was when we were going through a hard time 2-3 years ago, Jungkook shut down and didn't talk to us. I thought I wish he could share his feelings, but we ended up having a talk about it. At that time, I felt bad about it, I wished he opened himself up more to us, because he didn't share what's on his mind"
but then there was a change in him at some point and he started to live by the "i like it - i do it" motto haha he is a lot more confident now and communicates with us more. but we love him anyway. we are trying not to put pressure on them with the social media activity, if they don't feel like doing it, then they shouldn't push themselves, we will be just fine
Jungkook in a Vogue article: "I don’t have clear answers like, ‘This is how I’ll live!’ But what’s clear is that I want to decide for myself how to live my life. Perhaps there will be an afterlife, but who knows? This is the only life I’ve got, and it’s short. I’d never do something that everybody agrees is wrong, but where various ways are acceptable, I want to live on my own terms. I settled on this fairly early on.”
“I have realistic as well as idealistic goals,” says Jung Kook. “I used to be greedy and did what I wanted to do without giving it much thought. But the way one thinks changes over time, as does life in general, and relationships, too. These days, I’m more realistic. What I need to do is more important than what I want to do.”
as for the sexiness of the perf a lot of armys thought it represented well just how fast he had to become an adult. when you enter a visual heavy industry, you will be objected to a lot of... sexual views on you? you have to maintain your physique to be appealing to the audience, it's like your body is not yours anymore. the move when jungkook lifts his shirt to show the abs is one of his iconic choreographies from Fake Love. abs of 20yo jungkook were and still are all over the internet

Starting so young, all he knew was he liked to sing, liked to dance... You can always see his "clueless" response every time he was asked what was his dream before Bts... Sometimes he says badminton, sometimes game player, and most of the times he just says he didn't really had any dream. Before 13 maybe were different passions that changed with time, maybe singing would have been like that too if he wouldn't have found that group, cause as we have seen he could have done anything and be great at it.

My Time in Korean was 시차 (see-cha) short for 시차적응 (see-cha-jo-gung) which means Jetlag. When the tracklist first came out we thought maybe it might be related to previous songs Airplane (by JHope) or Airplane 2 and had to do with traveling. When we heard the song and realized Jungkook was speaking about his life from 15 years old to 24 and the blur of life during his formative years, we were blown away. The dance you noticed was mirrored to give that blurred feeling. Lyrics went from yesterday to tomorrow. It's placement on the album is right where we are still asking ourselves who are we on the Map of the Soul. He compared himself to peers on the subway while he's on airplane mode, why did he feel so different than others his age? I also love that you picked up the switch there the song shifted from "I can't" to "I will". So many BTS songs help bring us from the dark to the hopeful. Jungkook is claiming "my time" - his life - and his stage shows that as he moves from that mirrored area to a new stage.

Adding to what everyone has already said. His dance for this particular song is made more on the sexy side. Because that's how his life has been. Flashy. His innocence as a kid got lost in the process. Even though people still adore them when they behave like kids. But on certain stages, they are expected to show that "masculine" aura, bossy look, the cold CEO vibes. That's not bad at all, instead that's cool. But having to pretend this when he was just 14 or 15, when he didn't debut as actor, but an musical artist. It can be overwhelming at times.
Also he has the most soothing, clear and stable vocals out of all 4 vocalist. Pls check out his other solo work too.
"Still With You" being the most romantic one, with melodic music, and soft vocals. Lyrics are just the best.
His most fav Solo "Euphoria" (how army and BTS became his reason for happines)
His first solo as BTS ... "Begin"... He expressed his gratitude to his 6 hyungs (older brothers) in that song.
"Stay Alive" for a webnovel of them "Chakho"... This one is produced by SUGA.

I definitely interpret this as Jungkook the idol trying to find Jungkook the person who he feels he has lost touch with because he has had to grow up so fast. I think the sun is usually used as a metaphor for fame/success in the same way as Suga uses it in Interlude: Shadow. Allusions to the Icarus myth crop up quite a lot in BTS lyrics.
Interestingly I think I'm right in saying that Jungkook didn't originally have any ambitions to become a vocalist. He was only interested in being a dancer. I'm sure Armys who are more knowledgeable than me will correct me if that's wrong.

I think he said that he was not anticipating being the main vocal. It’s true that at one point pre-debut he considered withdrawing from being a band member to focus on dance.

    • @GreyMinerva

I am NOT certain of this, but given that his audition tape (which is always shown in documentaries) features his singing, I'm thinking he was aiming to do at least some singing. I remember reading that after he was sent to the US summer of 20...12? to improve/develop his dancing skills, he became so hooked on dancing that he JUST wanted to dance, and the other members (RM & co) talked him into not giving up on the singing.

    • @liberator6
      @liberator6 2 роки тому +5

Jungkook decided he wanted to be a singer at an early age, after seeing the idol G-Dragon on TV. He auditioned at 13, and was hired as a vocalist. Later, during their early training days, he started taking dance lessons, and briefly considered making dance his main focus. However, the other members assured him that he could do both, but convinced him that he was too good at singing for that not to be his main focus. And indeed, Jungkook is famously multi-talented, and debuted as BTS’s Main Vocalist (highest rank), and Lead Dancer (second rank, an important role in the “dance line” of the group) when he was only 15 years old.

I wouldn't personally say brokenness rather the feeling of loss of missing smth, the feeling of detachment to others your age because he grew up too fast having started his carrier at 15, training at 13
But then accepting that he did take another path tgan his peers, still being happy about it and realising, even if he couldn't reach out to his peers (or himself?) , he still can do it, work towards it and that he wants to, promises to do it even
About the life performance, keep in mind, this is in the middle of a concert, he just ran off stage after having sang and danced his soul out, changed real fast and then ran out to perform this.

From what I interpret, I think he’s happy that he met the him of today that’s found his path. At first he says I can’t call, hold or touch you, I think it’s that he couldn’t grasp his current life and position. As seen in the lyrics, his life is too different from the people around him, he didn’t have time to realize his teenage years, all he did was sprint and when he came back to his senses he’s already 24. He couldn’t do normal things teens did, couldn’t even take the subway like his friends do everyday. But at the end of the song it turns into “I can”, meaning he’s finally came to realize himself and grasp his situation, being able to enjoy who he became, his age, his persona, his hard-work and what he accomplished through the years

  • @MarinaEariel

They all mentioned several times how their lives are different to anyone else, both in songs and on interviews. I guess that feeling is even more pronounced with JK because he was so young when he was "captured" by the industry (his friends on the subway, him in airplane mode). I think specially the whole maknae line and RM perhaps too (because he was signed really young) lost a lot of pieces of "normalcy" as young men. I feel the other three had a bit more time to do "the ordinary" stuff before they got signed and as trainees (studying on an offline university, working part time jobs)

    • @VictoriaLovesMusic
      @VictoriaLovesMusic 2 роки тому +6

captured is a very weird and unsettling word to use here he chose this path no one forced him or kidnapped him. we can sympathize with his struggles without making his choices seem like not his own or controlled because bts are very much not controlled especially now in 2022. they may have had restrictions when they were still children but they dont have as many if any at all they do this cause they want to not cause they have to. always remember that dont remove their agency and personal choice they tell us this a lot not as directly but theure starting to. because too many think theyre puppets when theyre very clearly not. you can see the differences between them and groups from other labels its very obvious different experiences. bighit did make mistakes theyre a company run by humans but theyre not the evil corporation that other kpop company's are. bts have always said that theyre happy and content as bighit and they couldve left many times especially in 2018 when they all re signed another 7 year contract they discussed disbandment due to global pressure of getting bigger but stayed together cause they wanted to not cause of the company forcing them. dont get me wrong the industry is fucked weve all seen the hardships video but choose your words carefully as it reinforces the stereotypes of bts being controlled and goes deeper into asians being seen as robots and puppets in general not even kpop or koreans but asians. thats a real stereotype which is why the nerdy asian is such a huge trope in movies and tv shows try to portray them as robots with no feelings only being controlled to work thats what it implies when you use words like manufactured or controlled or captured. not hating btw just trying to educate.
watch bbygangmags videos on kpop vs orientalism and his other videos and @ destructive media you should react to them when you get the time theyre very informative videos to understand asian perspective when it comes to the way media and western countries in general treat asians especially in the entertainment words in this case kpop. its very real that kpop companies are terrible and mistreat artists but its also very real that thats not a one size fits all experience and every company works different so every artists situation should be looked at differently not with one brush. hope this makes sense and you understand what i mean

I can only add a couple insights into the live performance. One is pretty obvious - when all the camera PDs come into scene during his dance break. It's like SUGA being surrounded by the flashing lights of cell phones.
The second is so subtle. Easter eggs for ARMY. Brian Puspos, who had a 5 yr history with them and choreographed Butterfly (2015) and Serendipity (2017), did the intro and end. Jungkook, though, was the main choreographer. He included signature moves from their choreos over time - brief flashes from such songs as Run, Blood Sweat & Tears, and Fake Love. For me, they made the dance both surprising and familiar.

You've hit on one of the things that really draws me to JKs vocals - his clarity. Hearing his higher vocals like that, just makes me think of crisp, clear bells ringing. I can't quite put it into words, describe it, but when you hear a unique voice like that I suppose being unable to verbalize its quality is expected.
You also mentioned how incredible it is to remember dance parts, but recognizing these guys practice a lot.... I've become even more impressed when I see what they accomplish with very little practice time. On your down-time (if you get any, LOL) I recommend watching their 2021 United Nations performance of Permission To Dance (and there's a behind-the-scenes Bangtan Bomb video). The group only had hours within the UN building to figure out placement, choreo, camera movement - but they pulled it together flawlessly!!?! They continue to impress me with their effort, commitment to detail, & care for their best performance for ARMY (no matter the circumstances! They'd just spent 18 hours on a plane from Korea for crying out loud) each and every time.

I've been really enjoying your reactions to some of the vocal line songs even if it's not exactly your cup of tea. Each one of the vocal line members has a very singular style so there's always a chance that you'll find something that you'll like.
About the performance, what I think about when I watch it is the thin line between the persona they are demanded to show on stage and their "true" selves. I saw someone saying that they relate the sexiness of the dance and the outfit to the hypersexualization they have to face being in this industry. Just like in Jimin's Filter, there's this aura that hypnotizes us, that keeps it interesting enough for us to be entertained. So this would relate to his persona, I guess, and would be a response to external pressure tom some extent. On the other hand, I also feel like they can't freely explore their "sexiness", or their adulthood. Specially when it comes to JK, sometimes it seems that some people still see him like this pure child and there's this point where making his own adult decisions collapses with this childish image of him (for example, up to this day there's still people who criticize him for getting his tattoos). And that's where I also see this "gap" in time in which he is trapped. So, in a way, the whole performance could also be him making some sort of statement of who he is now, of how he's grown to be someone who is not ashamed to explore who he was, who is and who he wants to be. In this case, the performance wouldn't be a response to external pressure, but exactly the other way around. Of course, I can't be sure of anything that I'm saying, just sharing some thoughts hahahah

Running to where the sun rises every night = stage lights, as I interpret it. I also think that the sexiness of the dance is because he and Jimin are probably the most sexualized members, and that started when he was still a minor in middle school. A lot of people at that age have no idea who they are, what their sexuality is, what they really want for themselves... and here he was, being presented as a thirst trap when he was too young for such things. It's very, very sad to me. Probably the saddest thing he ever said publicly was that he's too young to really evaluate his own worth, but as he sees it, "it's not much". Breaks my heart to think of what the idol world puts its kids through. Not all of them survive, tragically enough.

He sings about leaving his home town and coming to the big city before he knew himself and “had no scent” ( like a baby deer ♥️) and how he loves his brothers (members) and is only sad if they are sad. Based on a discussion he had with the members, it was written by RM. Worth a listen. No MV but there are live stage videos.

The lyrics, his awesome voice, and the odd sort of beat...the tri-fecta of excellent song writing for JK...Thank you for reacting to this (and Filter the other day)
I had to add that I love the look on your face when you got to the part where the two days of their concert where he sang this were edited together...that look of mild bewilderment is priceless 😉

I think a song that really captures jk would be still with you. It’s more r&b and focuses on the vocals

Like allready said here, this song is by Jungkook thinking about the things he missed since being a 13 yo, working and training all the time. His friends, whom he didn't see much anymore, got to explore and go out, experience things teenagers normally do. JK didn't, his life changed completely and he is wondering if it was worth it. There ís a transition in the lyrics, and there's also a change of stage, with the dancebreak in the middle. Where he changes his believes or at least has hope. The backup dancers form a clock at the end, but in this video that's not really captured.
Actually Army was blown away by this performance and thought his outfit and some of the moves are an attack on their hearts. 😂
This performance is from the Map of the Soul ON:E online concerts BTS did during the first year of the pandemic. So there's no audience. They played two nights, two different outfits.

Love your reactions!! This is from the 2020 Map of the Soul 7 album. They had to cancel the 2020 world tour for that album because of the pandemic. This song was performed on the online- only concert called Map of the Soul ON:E. That whole album is so good! They did a few online (for pay) concerts during that time 2020-2021, the last one being Permission to Dance concert filmed in Seoul in Oct 2021 with no audience. They then finally did in-person concerts of PTD in LA- 4 shows in Nov/Dec 2021, in Seoul they had 2 shows in March 2022 (limited audience due to Korean ‘Rona regulations) and 4 shows in Vegas April 2022. We are hoping for a tour announcement when their new album comes out June 10.

Too bad Bighit doesn’t give more importance to these amazing solo songs especially this being a well produced and sung R&B song

Hmm when sings about missed things I think about normality and youth he lost being in band from so young age. And this I will call, touch, hug you, I think it is not specific to person but more about that he will find time to do this things...
Ahh this is my second favorite solo on this album after Shadow this is good and then Moon.
Hmm this concert was 2 nights, so He and Jimin have on each night different clothes for solo songs, the rest have the same, hair different some, but rest was the same, but their persormanes were different earch day. And this is mix somebody did of 1 and 2 concert day. But I'm sure somebody wrote about it already 😉

This is a teen 13 years old parented by another 2 teens Jin and Suga, and although we all know how great of a parents Jin and Suga are, when they joined BH they were kids themselves Jin the oldest 18 and Suga is just 3 months younger than Jin.
We all heard overreactions and fabricated conclusions about them separating since they announced in them 9th anniversary dinner that they need some time to live and do them own projects. We don't realised that these guys have being visiting them parents 2 days a year in far too many years. Having just 1 day of a month (Jin revealed "In the soop" when he mentioned that he would love to have piano lessons but they have just 1 day off a month so it is taking him too long).
Of course they need time, even in the dinner, specially Suga and RM, explained that "they are running out of inspiration because they don't have many real life experiences" other than living with each other.
Jeon Kookie being only 13 must have being so hard for him. Of course he feels he is not living a real live but a movie. Even Suga commented that from all of them Kookie is the one closest to live as a pop star, since really that's all he went through a big movie like life.
I hope people understand this not really a stop but a more free time for them and take it as something positive. It can happen that they separate, noone knows. What it is clear is that right now it is not them intention at all. And they feel closer than ever. Because now they must make the effort of visiting each other and that is because they care and love each other. You don't know how much you love your family until you have the chance to miss them.

You talking about "classic vocal love song with piano" it made me think about Jin's song Epiphany. However, it's a love song with a twist, so not your typical relationship love song. I recommend you watch this live, listen to it and read the lyrics because to a lot of us it is a really special song due to its message and Jin's amazing vocals live💜💜 So even though it might not be music you'd listen to, i think you'll really appreciate it

I understand what everyone says about this song and I also agree, but every time I listen to this, I always hear a little bit of ‘regret’ because for me, this sounds like a love song. The first verses seem like he’s saying to his love how he can’t call or hold that person. Because he isn’t living a normal life. So he questions if he’s living his life right. But it turns to a more hopeful note. That someday, he will be able to do what he can’t do now. Again, music is very subjective but I definitely get that from this. 😀

🤣 to me the interpretation of the dance part is the most clear. He is dancing for the person he can't hold but he will. He is basically asking her to wait for him.
Like hell if a man dances like that for me, I'll wait for him 3 lives 😅

I think the most likely ‘other’ he addresses in the closing verse is himself… the adult him, comfortable with his idol persona but also happy to be the private Jeon Jungkook. The dance just seems to me to acknowledge that he’s OK now with being seen as the sexy persona, JK of BTS, even though that’s just one aspect of who he is.
I’m pretty sure the word “finna” in the lyrics means ‘finally’, but just fits the flow better.

Waooo!!!....Congratulations my friend!! ...Would you like to reach 12,000 or more subscribers this week?...Well here you have your best gift of your life!!....Today it is very rare to find reactors like you who have never reacted to the best singer in the world, Dimash Kudaibergen, who has 7 octaves and 3 semitones vocal range (An alien) ... Maybe someone made you a request to react to Dimash, but you have not had time .... I am going to dare to recommend that you meet Dimash, because when you do it for the first time, your life as reactor will change forever ....For example, the number of views that you have today, it will increase by 300% in a matter of a few hours and you will get a lot of new subscribers.....But when you react to Dimash, don't do it with his most recent songs ... I recommend that you go to the year 2017 and react to the song that made him a global idol ... I mean the performance he did Dimash from the famous French song called "SOS D'un Terrien en Détresse", when he participated in the famous Chinese reality show The Singer in that year 2017 ... With that performance Dimash earned the reputation of being the best singer on the planet, so I recommend you start with that one.... You can also start with the other famous live version of that song that Dimash did the following year 2018 when he was invited to the famous Slavic Bazzar festival in Belarus .... Both performances are from another planet...And I have to give you a warning: Never react to The World Best videos, because they suck!...Your life will never be the same again, after reacting for the first time to Dimash...And your first reaction to Dimash will be something very special, so I recommend that you do the best job of your life as a reactor, because that first video will be seen by thousands of people around the world, maybe millions...I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Dimash....Here you have the best high quality video of Dimash performing S.O.S. Live 2017.....ua-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/v-deo.html
