Hey cheers man! Yeah you don’t expect to find that in a Southampton Charity Shop. It was £10.00 but that’s still a great price! Someone has clearly handed over there punk collection. There’s still a copy of Joy Divisions ‘Closer’ and X-Ray Spex debut in there! Hopefully still there next week!
Hi mate. Just subbed back. Just watched your ‘I Won’t Share You’ cover. Which was fantastic. Even though it’s quite simple so many people get it slightly wrong...you didn’t! Top 5 Smiths song for me. Thanks again.
Cheers Ryan, think I saw Dead Boys on your top 100 countdown? & thought I’d never own a copy. Man that video was epic! I still not sure how you did it. I still go back & watch that every so often.
Some body marvellous records there. I explained rather loudly when I saw you had picked up the Dead Boys from a charity shop. I really should listen to Sandinista some time. I can never quite bring myself to do it though. Maybe you have given me the impetus to finally do it!
Ha, yeah, it’s an Oxfam furniture shop, with vinyl at the back. As I said in the video, sadly I suspect some music fan has passed away, and they have got his collection of about 500 records, as they are slowly drip feeding them out..they aren’t giving them away, but pricing sensibly. Yeah Sandanista is an odd one! You may not want to pay too much for it!
Hi Harris. That Dead Boys is wonderful. I bought an OG in an auction last year, I had to get that. James Griffith’s just did a nice video on Trevor Horn. O lord, another Beatles person, what am I to d now. Sorry about the Cricket. I had a guy in a pub try to explain it to me once. Maybe we both ad drank too much. Steve
Ha,ha I’m obsessed with Cricket Steve.Any sport that involves stopping for lunch & tea is a great sport! Yeah thrilled with the Dead Boys for £10.00!Will check out James Hrifgiths channel. New one on me. Many thanks Steve!
Yeah listening to it now, really unexpected find..as I said, sadly I suspect some ageing punk has died, as it’s a charity furniture shop, which has suddenly filled up with some great punk albums. The price was £10.00 which is about a 1/3 of discogs price. It’s a great album, they’ve got an original x-Ray specs on for £20.00..I might have to pull the trigger on that if it’s still there next week. Thanks as always Jason.
I can definitely understand why you prefer the more fun punks, at the end of the day it's just as rebellious and true to punk just by its nature imo. Yea people act as if Morrisseys dodgy politics is something new lol. Totally agree about those beautiful Smiths sleeves. Stretch Out and Wait has always been a highlight for me. Trevor Horn is a fascinating figure for his long list of pop production credits. I got my copy of Revolver for £9, 70s reissue with the thinnest jacket in my collection but still sounds brilliant.
Hi POV. Yeah the Finsbury Park incident caused a huge storm in 92. The NME splashed the photo of him unfurling the flag on their cover & absolutely slated him. He didn’t talk to them for about 10 years. It’s actually a very complex issue, & Oasis were obviously using the national flag two years later & were celebrated for it. I was just uncomfortable with the direction his lyrics were going..but I will always accept there’s a debate there to be had.
Harris.. your killing me !! Sandinista, Bona Drag, and now the Dead Boys.. I'm flying over the pond in the morning!! Where are these charity shops.. seriously !! LOL ! what !! where did you score that Edsel Dillard and Clark !! I love "Out on the side" that is an amazing Gene song, very brooding, and beautiful ! And now The Smith's ?? Kill me now. !! I will trade my Reno thrift stores, for yours in the U.K.. although, we know, it's all good timing anyway.. great ones Harris !!
Hi JT, well Sandanista & Dead Boys were the two charity shops buysThey still weren’t cheap! ..but wellunder Discogs median...Dillard & Clark was at our monthly record fair...that definately wasn’t cheap! Yeah I live in a road of about 15 charity shops, so occasionally something will turn up. I got the Repo Man soundtrack for £2.00 last year! Cheers JT!
@@Harrispilton22Another very good Dillard & Clark is.. "Through The Morning Through The Night" Great cover of "Don't Bring Me Down" and Gene's "Polly".
Hi Harris, I got some nice picks in the Sailor’s Society East Street. 3 for £1- there’s mostly just Jim Reeves & Manuel of the Mountains left though! I rate Sandinista as the Clash’s best album.. I think they spent a year in England, Jamaica & New York making it!
Holy shite! Those are some killer “charity shop” finds! Wow! The Smiths! Morrisey! And that Dead Boys is an album I gave up trying to find at a decent price so o bought the Jackpot reissue that just came out. Sandinista is cool too! Great pick ups HP! Peace ☮️✌️👽🤘☮️
Cheers CV, yeah they still cost a few quid...but we’re definately under what discogs would be. I didn’t have you down as a Smiths fan! Thanks for watching, always appreciated!
Hi Harris. Anyone who likes The Dictators, Gene Clark and JT's Record Room is alright with me. I've subscribed ... I enjoy seeing what other collectors have picked up, especially bargains from charity shops and car boot sales. I'm less interested in people bragging about over-priced items they've found on Discogs and audiophile pressings. Where is the thrill of the chase?
Hi Carl, cheers mate. Yeah these are aren’t mega bargains..this charity shop prices below median though, which I’m happy with. I’ve always said if Charity Shops priced for just a few pounds on desirable records, then dealers would just buy the lot. It’s nice if kids getting into vinyl get a chance to buy some stuff, so I’m always careful not to just leave with armfuls or records. (Which I could have done with this shop). I want other people to get great stuff as well! Thanks again Carl, appreciate it!
At the time , Sandanista sold for the price of a single LP making it a most worthy purchase. The Smiths single is decent enough & both B-Sides are the usual high quality. So funny that How Soon Is Now was a B-Side initially. You still see OG Meat Is Murder LP 's without it.
Hi David, yeah I heard about that price. Decent move by the Clash! Yeah my MIM is UK so no HSIN! These Smiths singles are hard to track down under £20 quid. They are just lovely objects to own tbh!
Yeah, I went on a bit of an online binge there a while back, that you were partly responsible for Haris. Had to pay out but got most of the ones I want. Some are just beyond my pay grade ... Barbarism and The Headmaster Ritual for example ... but they are beautiful and they will be mine! Living in Ireland isn't ideal when seeking some of this stuff out. Even the colours of the labels were clearly chosen with care on those 12"s.
Superb finds, Harris! "I settled for world of insurance" had me laugh out loud mate. I gave up in the search for that Dead Boys LP in the wild and pre-ordered the new reissue by Jackpot Records which should be released this week actually. Killer record. Never got into The Smiths, only heard couple of their hit singles and that's it. Perhaps should check an entire album out some day. Any you would recommend? Great video mate, as always. Have a fantastic rest of the week! Cheers
Hi Mika. Yeah Insurance....this is the life I chose...when I put that badge on in the morning..There’s loads of Smiths Compilations so something like ‘The World Won’t Listen’ or Louder Than Bombs’ is a good entry point. But I accept Morrissey’s voice isn’t for everyone! Yeah that Dead Boys was a find! £10.00! They’ve still got some other bits & pieces there but rapidly running out. I actually found the Repo Man soundtrack there for £3.00 two years ago. Sleeve knackered but vinyl VGplus. Thanks as always mate!
Bona Drag on vinyl 👍 first Morrissey record I ever heard. I traded a mock turtles tape for tape in school. Any more record fairs on the diary? Great finds.

At least you stayed awake during the cricket. Our batting is, by and large, shite. Clash were great at reggae. Gruff from Super Furry Animals recommends the Dillard Clark lp. I saw Yes play live with Trevor Horn in them. Some bloke heckled for Rick Wakeman during the Geoff Downes keyboard solo 😁

He clearly had no confidence in his batting line up. A worry when so close to an Ashes series . Not picking a front line spinner never seems a good idea, either.
Hi Gav, I live on a road with about 20 charity shops, so loads of choice. This is an Oxfam furniture shop, with records out the back, so no one looks there..tbh I think some poor buggers passed away, as they’ve got about 40 punk albums right now.
