Very interesting thank you guys.
I used Motorolla XTS-5000 for most of my working life. Now I use Bendix Kings. You folk are local to me so all this is interesting. Thanks for sharing
Nice!
That Hi-Viz radio is visible from space. 👀
Yes hahaha
How?
I understand that P25 encryption is a must for ems but damm it killed the scanner hobby
Yes
You can always listen to geriatric Hams gossiping about their health issues on the local 2 meter repeater and that one guy who’s really into Skywarn.
@@ALRinaldi “it’s coming down like crazy out here, powers done gone out!”
Encryption isn't really a must for any public safety. It's a desire. They technically can't say anything over the air that violates HIPPA even if they are encrypted.. as a firefighter. Encryption kills interoperability
@@jasonwilliams3223 interop channels should be unencrypted if networks are setup correctly.
NX-5000 is legacy now? 😮 Man I feel old and I ain’t even 34.
How is the analog scan on these for example, selected as priority, a priority 2 and the rest operator select? Does it have the delay or chop as most kenwoods do?
I should note this has been the biggest complaint from users as they are use to Motorola scan. It would be nice if they were able to mute the mdc. I know pre can be done on bk and Kenwood but end muting is another complaint from users wearing surveillance ear piece's.
My agency has NX-1000 and 5000’s, and we are looking at doing our own programming of our radios. What is the process to be able to get the software? I’ve called kenwood and requested information off their website, but no one has called me back
You need a dealer. Look up Evans Mitchell. He's a good guy. He should be able to get you the licensing.
does it have dynamic zones like the apx
can you sell direct to user radio and software?
How tall is the antenna?
Pretty astonishing that your agency does not provide radios?
Is this a trunk-ed radio system?
It could be used on that system
Where can I purchase one of these
From a dealer. LOL They lock this stuff up tight.
how does thus work on med chanels 468-470MHZ?
Works great for me
Can this radio do NAS and FPP looking to buy this or a BKR9000
It can do FPP if optioned. NAS is almost impossible on Kenwood. BK is great for NAS. They even have videos showing how to do it.
Hello, I am a ham since 1990. Is the software ham friendly to purchase?
Probably not. This kind of stuff is locked up tight.
Yes, plenty of dealers willing to work with hams, including selling the software.
@@Fivesx5555 Really? I have heard the exact opposite, but if that's true, I am interested in finding those dealers. Could you point me in the right direction?
@@Caderic IDK if my other reply went though, but on RadioReference forums KD4EFM is a good, ham friendly dealer. He'll sell you everything you could want for the radio.
@Caderic other replies didn't go through, but ask about that on radio reference forums and you'll get some help.
Two aditional radios could have seriously improved and otherwise good video... Wireless lavalier mics. Really hard to find a volume where i could hear both of you with out one of you being too loud
Yikes, 5k?
Some of these style radios go for 2 and 3 times that price.
@SkinnyMedic Wow, and here I thought I was looking at a good option for preparedness. These are more professional option. Good review!
@@SkinnyMedic well when you put it that way, that must mean it's cheap! *end sarcasm*
All preppers beware: ALL chinese made radios can be monitored, disabled and/or tracked by the chinese government. Also, radios with chinese made chips can be monitored, disabled and/or tracked by the chinese. Being cheap isn't always the best way.....
Some skitzo crap right there. There's a lot of reasons those radios suck and or are not legal the way people use them. Untill I see evidence on a spectrum analyzer this track and monitor claim is ridiculous though. U think they are paying for cell phone service to track each one or have satalites dedicated to listening to the garbage radios they sell? What I'm getting at is that your claim requires they use something to listen. Also most of the Chinese garbage people are buying are 2m/70cm analog... So anyone near by can listen in
Provide proof or we’ll assume you are a troll
Can you point me to good information on this?
@@Caderic The Secure Networks Act and the FCC "Covered List" which bans equipment from certain Chinese manufacturers. Big LMR maker being Hytera, but you also have Huawei, ZTE, and Hikvision (IP cams).
@@straightpipediesel Ok, what does that have to do with the price of tea in china?
Very nice video, keep it up man! Btw I sent you a quick message on Instagram, let me know if it went through :)
