1 - English, Scottish, Gaelic, Irish, Cornish and Welsh. 2 - Less than two thousand people. 3 - In Wiltshire. 4 - In the island of Anglesey off the north-west coast of Wales. 5 - Firs of all because Shakespeare's signature was different on most of his writings, secondly he didn't leave any of the documents about his writings, thirdly his name is attached to the Global Theatre but not as a person who wrote any of the plays that performed there. As to the strange facts you told us, I knew only "the Union Flag". Thank you for the others ones. I found them very interesting.
This lesson Is very interesting. I like It 1) the languages recognized in the British Islands are Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic Cornish and Welsh 2) in St David live less of two thousand people 3) Stonehenge Is located in Wiltshire 4) It Is located in Anglesey Island 5) Shakespeare's signature was different in documents that they have found He did not leave any of the documents about his plays His name is attached ti the Globe Theatre but not as a person Who wrote the plays performed there
I knew the fact n°1 (UK, Great Britain, British Isles), n°2 (Big Ben), n°4 (the longest place name), n°6 (Stonehenge) and n°7 (🇬🇧). I managed to understand, without subtitles, more or less 95% of your narration but because you speak very very well 😃 ...... I missed a few words here and there 😊 Thanks a lot Joe, very interesting lesson and not only as a listening exercise. See you next time 🙋
Hello, teacher. This evening I'm a little tired because I have studied with my grandchildren a lot. Anyway, I have listened to your interesting lesson. But I have used a little trick: I have slowed your audio. So, I have better understood: 1) the difference among UK, Great Britain, and the British Islands. 2)I didn't know about the existence of the small city of St. David, and the longest word in Wales. Really charming the chapters on Stonehenge, and the different languages still spoken in the British Islands. William Shakespeare is always a topic rich in surprises. In my opinion, the Union Flag is beautiful. Thank you for this opportunity. See you soon. Have a great night
Hey Mr. Joe... That's listening lesson sounds very good.... In all of the Web I am sure that those are the most comprensibile lesson.... At first maybe I didn't understand all, but the second time everythings was clear... Perhaps just a 5% I missed.... Please ... I think most of your followers need lessons in this way.... Trust me... I'm improving a lot in my listening English and of course the grammar too.... Thank you even so much... Best regards from Kuwait city....🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
1- There are 4 languages that are recognised as native languages in addition to English: Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, Cornish and Welsh. 2- St Davids got less than of 2000 people who lived here 3 - Stonehenge monument is situated in the Wiltshire County 4 - The Anglesey Isle in the north of Wales has the town with the long name 5 - W. S. signature was different in almost of all the documents the historians have found. When he died in his will he didn't leave any of his writings to his family. The name attached to the Globe Theatre is not the name of the person who wrote the plays and the sonnets that were performed in the theatre, though the name of the person who invested in the Globe Theatre. Very amazing lesson Joe! Thank you!
Sono sempre molto interessanti i tuoi anddoti riguardo il Regno Unito! Stavolta, anche se hai parlato un pó più quickly, ho capito/compreso tutto! GRAZIE !
Yes teacher i don't know all of these informations and I have understood many new words and expressions you talked about ancient english origins , very interesting history and letterary news for me thank you so much
Dear Joe, very interesting topics! I had some troubles in the final part of your video: the one about Shakespeare... I'll try again... I don't give up...Thanks! Very clever method!
I've been several times in the UK because I am strongly attracted by your history that, after all, is closer than it seems at first sight, to the Italian. I totally agree with your description of the changes in your relationship with food. When I was young (now I'm 66) I used to joke about Brits, saying "... they don't eat, they feed themselves " but whereas in past, in a pub you could choose between no more than six dishes, nowadays you could easily find a four pages menu and be surprised by the tasty food carefully cooked. Most all, I'm missing fish and chips
Hello Joe. I have understood almost all l hope🤭. 1. 5 languages English, Scottish, Corval, Ireland and Walsh 2. 2.000 peaple 3. Witshare 4. Northern Wales 5. 3 reasons signature different on his works, didn't leave his plays to his family in his will and he was a investor on theatre but don't appear as writer of all his plays
Wow ! To be honest I didn't know any of things you've explained. I knew only something about difference old languages still spoken in Great Britain, like gaelic and also scottish. I like so much this kind of lesson because think it's good to improve listening, intonation and connected speech. You're really a great teacher Jo. Thanks you.
Thank you dear Joe! It was really interesting and easy to understand. The information about Shakespeare and that one about the village with the longest name in Europe was completely new for me. I love these Only English videos. They are stimulating! ( is it possible to say? 🤔). Like I already said, You are a star. Thanks
Hi Joe, here my answers: 1) five? 2) almost 2000 3) Wiltshire 4) Anglesey 5) for false signature, no inheritance to his family, signboard for great contributor.
I didn't know those facts about Shakespeare. I knew the other native languages in UK but I didn't know they were widespread

Fantastic lesson as usual. If I have had Joe as teacher when I was a student, I would have passed my exams with top marks, or better saying with flying colours. Thanks mate!
Hi Joe, how are you? I also thought that " Big bell " was the big clock up the tower 😳😳🤭 and I was confusing United Kingdom with Great Britain 😳😳. While I hadn't idea about origin of your flag as the union of the three S. ANDREA'S crosses of the England, Scotland and Wales {Joe, do I remember it correctly? 🤔}. Instead I remembered that the "big rocks" of Stonehenge was more or less built in the same historic period of the Cheope, Chefren and Micerino pyramids of Giza. ☺️ I ignored that the languages talked in the British Isles were so differents!! Joe, excuse me for all my mistakes but I am searching to improve my "macaronic" English! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you so much for your fantastic and very funny lessons!! It's evident that your work is professional and it is prepared with care and skills also of general culture. 👌🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Hi Joe. I have really enjoyed this lesson. I knew a couple of questions as I've been living in Scotland since 2017. Between me and you, I couldn't understand Scots at the beginning, and I thought to move down to England on several occasions. Now I am settle down here and I feel at home. That to say, I really welcome any information about the UK.
I undestoond everithing and I'm glad that I'm not loosing my skills with english.. I'd like to improve my grammaticol skills but it doen't matter at all.. I agree with the Welsh language. According to me if someone can learn Welsh he is an hero. It's a really difficult language. Diolch yn fawr iawn. '' I'm not a hero I know just a few of words in Welsh ''
Hy Joe. I understood a lot, but I had trouble undestending the second and the third thing the people say about Shakespeare. I didn't know a lot of thing you have said. Your lesson has been really interesting. Tace care.
I would have liked if you you had done a part about the Lockness monster but you could make a new video about monsters, ghosts and mysterious places in England ! It will be very exciting !
1. 5 native languages: English, Scottish Gaelic, Welsh, Irish Gaelic, Cornish 2. 2000 3. Wiltshire 4. Anglesey- Wales 5. different signatures in documents ; after he dead, no mention of his works was found in his will ; actually, his name is attached to G.T. because he was a property investor but not the person who wrote most if not all the plays performed
The best explanation of Union Flag I've heard , thanks. Very interesting to know about different languages and culture in different isles. Same happens in italy, I'm from Sardinia. Local language change completely from north to south in the island. Does the same happen there too? Cheers
Understand all of it knew about what you have been telling vero little. Anyway you are rally great. I tell about you to all the people I see at my restaurant. Way to go
Hi Joe! You spoke very quickly this time, so I had to listen to you more times. 1) There are five recognised native languages: English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish and Cornish. 2) Less 2000 people living in St Davids. 3) Stonehenge is in Wiltshire. 4) The with the long name is in Anglesey. 5) Because some people have evidenced that: - the Shakespeare's signature was different on almost all of the documents that they have found, - when he died in his will he did not leave any documents about his plays or sonnets, - then they say that Shakespeare was actually a very good property investor so he was actually the person who invested in the Globe Theatre, so his name is attacched to the Globe Theatre but not actually as a person who wrote any of the plays that will perform there. I understand almost all of you said but I had to listen to you more times, but I don't know if I answer right your questions. I don't know if I answered right your questions but I tried to do it. Thank you for this very interesting lesson, as ever.
Hi! It was very interesting.I understood 90%. I knew only two facts, about the bell and about Stonange (place I visited more than 20 years ago, when I went near London, in Hertford, as au pair).Thank you, bye
hi Joe, I almost understood everything u said but didn't know many facts ,I'd like to tell you one more strange fact i know about England , In Abingdon on thames there is a jail and this Jail was built by Napoleon's prisoners so they built basicly their own jail which is rather Fantastic ^^, any way great video as always , well done!
It is a very interesting lesson i had visited Bristol my wish is to travel around Great Britain .You have given me some beautiful and interesting explanations .where is the Welsh flag in the Union Jack flag ? Thanks 👋
I only know two things that you said .The First different ways to speak in English and the second, a city has to a cathedral or it's not a city I am very happy your video because you make know me interesting facts grazie mille
Thanks Joe! So am I love the prefix ''un''. Per quanto riguarda la forma ''to be able to'' si può anche usare ''to be unable to'' quando non si riesce o non si può o non si è capaci di fare una cosa? Per esempio; ''I'm unable to speak French?'', per dire: ''non so parlare Francese'' ? 🤔
These are my answers: 1) They are : Irish Gaelic , Scottish Gaelic, Cornish, Welsh and English too, I think.2) San Davids has got less than two thousands people living there.3)Stonehange is into Wiltshire 4)In Anglesey which is the island in the Nord of Wales5) Because we found different Shakespeare's signature in his documents, then because there aren't any documents about his plays or his sonnets in his will and finally because he was a property investor and he invested in the Globe Theatre where plays were performed, and his name is attached to the Globe Theatre for this reason. I love William Shakespeare for his sonnets and his plays, and I don't believe that! However I did'nt know a lot of the strange things that you said. In Italy we say: Fino alla bara, s'impara! It means that there is always to learn.Thank you very much for your interesting lesson. I enjoy it.
ho capito piú o meno il 95% di tutto quello che hai detto , I understood more or less 95% from that what you spoke (giusto?)
Hi Joe. I loose myself every time you introduce some new specific words, mainly about new places. It's hard to me to catch each word without subtitles. However thanks a lot. I hope to follow you on your website a.s.a.p.. Good evening.
In the British Isles there are scotish, gaelic, irish and cornish native languages. 2- The people that lives in St David's are 2000 3- The stonehenge is in Wiltshire. 4- The city , which is a Northem of Wales and has a long names is Angles. 5. Some people don't think that Shakespear didn't write his plays because after his dead , there are not documents about his plays because he didn't left anything, because his signature is different respect of the documents they found and there are not people who performs the act in the Globe Theatre ,which it has his name.
1) 4 2)two thousand 3)wiltshire county 4)Anglesy isle north of wales 5)the signature was different; when he died he didn't leave any writings to his family
Hi Jo, very interesting, I didn't know many of these facts about Great Britain, United Kingdom or British Isles.... Please correct me if I make some mistakes... But what's the difference between Isles and Islands ?
Un'altra volta, saresti così gentile da spiegare l'uso corretto di ' to be' alle to '. Grazie mille.
Many news of England. Interesting lesson
Thanks! I'm pleased you enjoyed it!
1 - English, Scottish, Gaelic, Irish, Cornish and Welsh.

Great! Thanks Alessandra! I’m pleased you enjoyed it!
Hi Joe, how are you?
I also thought that " Big bell " was the big clock up the tower 😳😳🤭 and I was confusing United Kingdom with Great Britain 😳😳. It depends-
Very interesting lesson, I absolutely didn’t know about William Shakespeare, about the “Big Ben”

The best explanation of Union Flag I've heard , thanks.
Very interesting to know about different languages and culture in different isles.
Same happens in italy, I'm from Sardinia. Local language change completely from north to south in the island. Does the same happen there too?

Watch the lesson tonight ... lots of different accents... at 20:30... turn on notifications 👍
ho compreso quasi tutto con sottotitoli in inglese tranne il numero four.
5) Because some people have evidenced that:
- the Shakespeare's signature was different on almost all of the documents that they have found,
- when he died in his will he did not leave any documents about his plays or sonnets,
- then they say that Shakespeare was actually a very good property investor so he was actually the person who invested in the Globe Theatre, so his name is attacched to the Globe Theatre but not actually as a person who wrote any of the plays that will perform there.
I understand almost all of you said but I had to listen to you more times, but I don't know if I answer right your questions.
I don't know if I answered right your questions but I tried to do it.
Thank you for this very interesting lesson, as ever.
Yeah, it was a bit faster! 💪
Hi! It was very interesting.I understood 90%. I knew only two facts, about the bell and about Stonange (place I visited more than 20 years ago, when I went near London, in Hertford, as au pair).Thank you, bye
Thanks Cinzia, I'm pleased you enjoyed it!
I ignored most of this information and I haven't understood all, 80%, sometimes I have to read the subtitles. thanks a lot
Well done!! Perché hai ignorato l’informazione?

Thanks Joe! So am I love the prefix ''un''. Per quanto riguarda la forma ''to be able to'' si può anche usare ''to be unable to'' quando non si riesce o non si può o non si è capaci di fare una cosa? Per esempio; ''I'm unable to speak French?'', per dire: ''non so parlare Francese'' ? 🤔
Yep 👍 also!!
@@JoEnglish Really cool! Thanks! I'm going to use it a lot! 🤭😆
Jo, I love your videos, expecially when you speak English. May you think about grammar lessons in English too? Thank you and Well done
Have you seen this one? ua-cam.com/video/TsYHliOqNro/v-deo.html
I enjoy it.
Thanks Teresa! Excellent answers! Thank you for watching! Your understanding is excellent!
Thank you very much, my teacher! Thanks for your patience! I am very lucky to have met you

Hi Joe. I loose myself every time you introduce some new specific words, mainly about new places. It's hard to me to catch each word without subtitles. However thanks a lot. I hope to follow you on your website a.s.a.p.. Good evening.
Thank you 😊

5. Some people don't think that Shakespear didn't write his plays because after his dead , there are not documents about his plays because he didn't left anything, because his signature is different respect of the documents they found and there are not people who performs the act in the Globe Theatre ,which it has his name.
1) 4
2)two thousand

Please, Mr Joe, If I'm able to understand your speaking in this video, which level is it? B2 or C1? Thanks a lot.
The level depends more on the the related questions than the audio…
Hi Jo, very interesting, I didn't know many of these facts about Great Britain, United Kingdom or British Isles.... Please correct me if I make some mistakes... But what's the difference between Isles and Islands ?
Hello! We use Isles often if they are part of the name of a country or region etc... islands just refers to a group of islands
