I found Moloch hanging out at the Target by my work last Sunday so I figured why not put something a little more contemporary up on my channel. I have lots of figures I haven't posted reviews for that I'm still planning on, so don't worry. But Moloch is what is happening now. Next is General Veers, so look forward to that. Not enough Star Wars aliens & background characters in the 6” line so I think it’s a good figure. Glad to see he is showing up.
Me too! I completely agree.
i think there are like 19 alien figs in the line, depending on what you call 'alien.' that's less than 10%. there are well over 200 figs, but so many of them are re-issues/repaints/variations of the same character or character type. doing a quick count, if i count all the stormtrooper variations as one, and all the clones variations as one, and minus out the droids, i counted a 'whopping' 42 individual human characters (i promise you my count is off by a few, though, it was a real quick count).
that's odd, eh? okay, taking a lot of liberties, but, still, if you approve of my line of thinking here then just under 50% of the non-droid figs are aliens! the rest are the same human character in different outfits, ages, or some variation of a stormtrooper/clone. dunno, thought that might be of some kind of interest, lol.
Shawn Hull ....if they were smart they should have done ANH cantina alien figures! Thats what people always go for... the classic trilogy figures!
You know, it’s not a zero sum system. They still can make cantina aliens.
of course they will, but marketing has to string us along in the meantime. walrus man, hammerhead, the good doctor and the band are without a doubt going to spring up. the only question is how many will they do from the cantina and jabba's palace. the answer is as many as we will buy....

I got lucky saturday when I went into my target I just happen to ask them to look in the back and the guy said he found one hiding. I really didn't want him until I had him in hand,. now I am excited I have him.

From the moment I saw this character I wanted this figure. His design is just totally awesome. The character reminds me of classic Jim Henson full sized puppet suit like from the dark crystal.

Star Wars needs to return to muppet/ puppet tech for certain characters. Not everything translates with CGI in my opinion.

The “want” for me was huge! I absolutely loved Solo. And the sculpt, paint detail and the SIZE of such a mysterious and intriguing figure as Moloch makes him my favorite Black Series figures of 2018. I love me some Moloch!
I would say that the want has grown! I have to say, I’m glad I have him now that I have him!
I loved the movie too.....I never understood the hate.
Hey Mike! Great review as always. Moloch technically has another accessory! His outer cloak is removable. It reveals a little extra detail on the sculpt and provides some more variation in posing/displaying. :)

Just got this figure. I was so psyched to pick up the gamorrean guard finally and picked up this figure as an after thought. After opening both figures, I prefer this figure to the awesome gamorrean. The gun, mast and staff make this figure just awesome. He has such a presence on the shelf next to the other figures.

The corellia scene is great because of Proxima, one of the best Star Wars characters.
I do like Proxima. I saw the movie for a 2nd time and I enjoyed the beginning a bit more than the first time.
Very cool, although in the film when Moloch walks down some stairs you can see his actual legs. Or the actors legs as he walks down the stairs.
Oh he definitely has legs in the movie. It was the first thing i checked on my rewatch.
I found him at a specialty toy store in Tokyo called Red Mercury. I was happy to find him in the summer because he probably won’t be coming to Canada any time soon, at least where I live. I really enjoyed Solo and want all the associated figures as I’m sure you will.
Papa Gord had ours on preorder from EB Games, but I’m glad you found one!

I had no idea that he is a worm. Mike educational. But now I can not take him seriously, because he would remind me of Earthworm Jim. Just imagine Moloch with that big cartoonish red gun from Jim, lol. The figure looks ok, I like his removable mask. The pistol grip color is way too bright, but not a big deal. Great review, as always. I like awailability info section, it always helpful to know what you should try to get first and on what you can wait, maybe even for a discount.

Mike Kaess Yep, looked it up too and there is one moment where he walks down the stairs to Lady Proxima room. Definitely have legs. That leads us to several conspiracy theories. What if it is not two legs, but two worms in one costume? Someone stop me please.

I feel like Whitecoat Han could be a pack-in for his speeder. Also, I have no clue how you're getting Target exclusive figures from Canada. Even when we had Targets, they had next to nothing in any department, other than poor severance packages for their employees.

Thanks for posting this! I watched your video yesterday and it prompted me to stop by my local Target and grabbed the last one. I'm with you, sorta a boring figure... More of a vinyl statue, but yeah I'm glad I have it. :)

Mike Kaess Haha! I’m going to guess that’s a production mistake on the film’s end. I’m listening to the Most Wanted audiobook and Moloch is definitely referred to as a worm with segments. And fun fact, his robe is somehow moisture-lined/enhanced! Which is sorta gross.

I still haven't gotten around to seeing Solo, so this is an easy pass for now. I do wish Hasbro would instead make more figures of the Cantina and Jabba's Palace aliens, rather than stuff from the new movies. There's just something about the OT alien designs that I will always prefer. Especially Jabba's Skiff Guards and many of the other creatures in his palace.
I really enjoyed Solo. it's just a fun movie, but i can see how this figure would be an easy pass for most people even so. He's more expensive and less articulated.
Another nice review mike...cool fig and ill get one too eventually...to be honest though while being a completionist ive paid full price for alot of figs only to see others getting them on clearance for a fraction of what I paid...so I have a system now that I buy the "must haves" as soon as I find them as long as its retail price...but this one falls into the "could live without it" class for me lol...meaning ill pick it up as soon as I find one on sale....over all it was a good movie...this is a cool looking fig...and Hasbro did a great job with what he was...P.S....my system of buying over last 2 years has already saved me probably a grand I'm guessing and I still have all of them and I use the savings to army build...have a great night
You know... I KNOW I should do this. I completely get the idea. But I just have trouble knowing there are Black Series figures available to buy and that I don’t have. I just got the new Amazon exclusive droid 3 pack, even though I figure in a few months it’ll be widely available and cheap.... I just can’t. I have a problem.
@@MikeKaess I was like that too...but I still get it all and ive been saving alot of money...I still habe to get the 3 pack of droids yet that jist came out...but I passed them up for only $55 this past weekend and no tax or shipping and I still couldnt pull the trigger....

If you watch 'Solo' a couple of times it's clear that Moloch is the same species as Lady Proxima, who is clearly a worm. Solo was good but you're right that the first half is a bit weak.
Right! It’s the first thing I’ll look for when I watch it again tomorrow. I buy the physical Blu-ray so I can get the digital copy and the physical. The last two weeks has been awful.
Oh, well; I hope that the Solo Blu-Ray makes up for it. Kinda weird cinematography but the more I watch it; the more I like it. Thanks for the great reviews. 🌼

well especially because i went back and rewatched Solo and Moloch clearly has legs. He's not a worm in the movie.
The helmet looks like a maggot but the character looks more like a bird than a worm.

Great review Mike! Very interesting figure. When Hasbro unveiled this figure at SDCC, I believe. They showed detailing on the end of staff that looked like bodies laying over each other, it looked freaky looking. Did they change the sculpt?
it definitely doesn't seem AS detailed as the Hasbro reveal.
NO size comparisons...people love size comparisons and since this guy's supposed to be 6'6 it would have been extra interesting...
I get that people like size comparisons. I just... have no interest in doing them unless I think there’s a serious inconsistency. Being a 1:12 scale is nice because how ever many inches tall a figure is equates to exactly how many feet tall they should be.
@@MikeKaess Yes, that's a nice feature of being a 6 inch collector. The black series Vader I feel is a very very well sculpted figure, but he stand just a bit too short (the Mafex Rogue one is appropriately tall) , a damn shame since vaders height is so crucial for him.

I cannot bring myself to spend $30 for this worm. I saw the figure at Target and was underwelming for the price. Even at regular $19 I would think twice. I got the Gamorean Guard, still I think the price is ridiculous. Is the can sell us a little turd like Yoda for full regular standard price they could have priced this one by the same rule too.
i completely understand. What makes it worse, is that its not even movie accurate. After watching Solo again, its clear that he has regular humanoid legs instead of being a giant worm.

Love the figure, love the review. Not sure what went on with his lower half tho 🤔 I don't believe it's screen accurate. In the scene where Han is being taken to Lady Proxima, as they walk down the stairs, Moloch is clearly stepping down with 2 legs. Seeing that Hasbro made a weird worm lower body doesn't make sense, even if he is from a species that have these bodies.
I know he’s a worm, but it’s still hard to pay $30 for such limited articulation. That being said, I’m still getting it bc I’ll get anything Black Series.
I get it! I feel the same way, but in hand the quality makes the lake of articulation feel better.

Good review, but as far as this figure, well basically the entire Solo line, no thanks. Same goes with the Last Joke...I mean Jedi. I have ZERO intrest in these characters. The ONLY Black Series figs I really want are the Bounty Hunters, IG-88, Dengar, 4-Lom, and Zuckuss. The Hoth Leia 👍, Ezra, and Chopper. I'd love to see Kit Fisto, Zeb(please), and maybe a Chancellor Palpatine, before his gruesome turn. My point is, these new movies just, I have as I said ZERO intrest in them. Hell the Jyn Erso and Cassian figures were clearanced out at $1.00 @ Wal Mart. Now the 1st Solo wave is just shelf warming. The only ones bought.....Tarkin(10/10!), and the crazy Stormtrooper. I'll admit I bought the Trooper. My only Solo figure. Selling off a bunch of my Force Awakens and it's sequel. I love Star Wars, but with these new creators attacking fans on social media. The brains now of Lucasfilm saying they owe us nothing. To a point they don't but then again, on the flip side, neither do we. So my completest attitude of wanting every Star Wars figure....gone. Now I buy one figure every 2-3 months. I will admit that a lot of them look ok. The new face scan tech is amazing, but why buy and display figures/characters you don't care about. If you enjoy these movies and characters, that's great. More power to you. I WONT condemn or ridicule anyone's enjoyment. Buy what you like 👍. My love for Star Wars is still here, but it's fading.
I respect your view and that you can have it without stomping all over the things that other people like. I really enjoyed Solo and TLJ, but I see how other people wouldn’t. I’m glad that Hasbro seems to be focusing equally on new and old figures for all of us to get what we want. Good hunting!
@@MikeKaess I respect that other people will like things I don't and vice versa. Attacking others for a difference of opinion? Not good. That's my issue with all this. Disney attacks fans, and again vice versa. My opinion is if you don't like it, DON'T support it, but condemning those that enjoy it is wrong. This whole issue has or is ripping Star Wars apart. One thing though, just one question? Can you really be happy with Luke becoming a person who went from someone willing to die for his friends to a little jack@$$? Continue the great reviews. Also as you said the exclusive figure trend is getting old. Dependind on the figure...R5-D4 was impossible. I had a pre-order so I was lucky. Scalpers buy up most or all of the ones people want then triple the $$$ on ebay. The hobby is becoming lame. But it is what it is.
I think we’re in 100% agreement on this topic, that doesn’t mean discussion can’t be had. I think it’s important to actually discuss what we did and didn’t like without resorting to base line name calling and attacking each other.
As for your questions, no, I’m not ok with it, but that is the point. No one should be ok that Luke ended up being a repressed defeated hermit. But just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean that I can’t accept that this is where his story took him.
Look at Anakin Skywalker. Let’s imagine for a second that the prequels came out first. And that RotS ended before he turned to the dark side. Then suddenly we’re in ANH and the hero of the past three movies who moved heaven and earth to save his friends is suddenly responsible for killing them all and destroying the peace in the Galaxy. And kills his mentor in that very movie.
I can imagine that being a very jarring twist in his story that seems pretty out of character. Sure he had anger issues, but to kill people he saw as friends? That’s crazy out of left field.
Luke had some shit happen to him on top of having a pretty shit childhood and youth and finding out his dad was space Hitler and he was the chosen one to try to bring a dead order of protectors back to life that his dad was responsible for killing.
Then when he did, his nephew pretty much willingly jumped face first into his grandpa’s dark side path and wrecked everything but also showed Luke some of his own demons. So instead of trying again, he decided to remove himself from the equation and let the Galaxy sort itself out without him and the Jedi. Pretty much just like Obi-Wan and Yoda did.
So no, I’m not happy with it, but I think it’s a compelling story and I’m glad he got redemption.
I Totally agree with ur figure choices n Emperor Papapitn before deformed with saber was 1' along with Count Dooku n Episode 3 Obiwan that Shf arts are releasing 'Dengar is the last BH i i need the Bespin 'Leia s'Skiff disguise Lando 'a General GREVIOUS 'a Kit fisto n give me the Jedi Council. There us alot of prequel characters I didn't mention because I have the Shf arts version like Mace n Episode 2 Obiwan and Anakin ' as for the original Trilogy I would love a General Lando 'Battle of Endor Luke n Leia in helmet n poncho 'Ackbar ROTJ 'Fett n a few others. I hated the last jedi bad writing 'the politics 'Rey still hasn't had tragic happen to her yet 'at least at this point in the second film of the original Trilogy Luke lost a hand 'n found out Vator was his farther. I dont know how people don't see the bad writing 'a lot of unanswered questions s 'Rey n Kylo im just sick of im just DONE with this Trilogy .
It's like people think we hate the film for no reason THERE ARE ALOT OF REASONS WHY FANS WEREN'T PLEASED WITH THE LAST JEDI.

Who is this character? What a dumb figure. They should stick to making more classic trilogy figures. Thats where the money is!
