Golfcraft used to have tour pros who used their clubs in the 1950s and 1960s. They were bought by a golf ball company you may gave heard of - Titleist. LOL! That is when Titleist started making clubs. The first ones were the same Golfcraft top-of-the-line blade model used on tour with only the stampings changed from Golfcraft to Titleist. They sold way faster than the same Golfcraft model. My first good set had Golfcraft irons.
And ARNOLD PALMER PRO-SHOT GOLF!!!! OMG. I had that when I was a kid in the 70s. You drove with polystyrene balls, then putted with smaller marble-type ones. Plastic sand traps, foam green. You did well there.
The Wilson Fat Shafts are actually pretty nice clubs. I had a set when they first came out...and a golf buddy of my...who is also very tall, like I am ( I am 6'6" )...tried them on the driving range and fell in love with them. After our round of golf, he offered his brand new Lynx Black Cat irons in a swap. I took him up and never regretted it...I loved my Black Cat's and shot my first round under Par in 20 years...a 71 on a 7000 yard long course with a course rating of 74.7.
Wow nice round! I remember hitting the fat shafts and liking them a few yeara back. Always wondered why they stopped making them especially in the woods.
@@StackedGolf I don't know why they stopped making top of the line clubs. I still own my very first really nice set of clubs that I bought from a friend....a full set of Wilson Staff Fluid Feel blades. I played them for the longest time...and when I was in my 30's, I used them mainly on the practice range to keep my ball striking as accurate as possible. Blades always let you know when you're not hitting the ball right. BTW...my personal best score was in college playing with Wilson irons, and McGregor persimmon woods, 11° driver, 3 & 5 woods and my mid 1970's Bullseye putter...the only putter I have ever used. I was even Par with 4 holes to go and birdied a long Par 3, hit driver & a 5 iron...a 245 yard second shot to 18 inches for a tap in eagle. The I birdied the 17th hole...a short Par 4....& Holed an 8 iron from 155 yards on 18 for another eagle and a 6 under 66. I won my flight and a $500 credit at the course!
Hey Larry I bought the Lynx Black Cat in a thrift store here in oceanside for like 12 bucks. the grips where shot so i replaced the 6 iron man it was awsome i now have replaced all the grips and cant wait till saturday
GolfCraft is the golf company that was in Escondido, CA that Titleist bought to start making Titleist golf clubs. GolfCraft clubs were played by touring pros. The first Titleist blades were the top of the line GolfCraft model, the Continental stamped Titleist. That was the only change. They sold like crazy. Until the late 1960s Rurleist made only golf balls (in Massachusetts).
Watching this at 11pm in California, I think I will be checking the thrift stores tomorrow. Well I'm glad to see you are making the best of your situation regarding the evacuation. Went to one of my local thrift store a week ago and found a brand new taylormade golf cart bag. Still in the packaging and a price tag of $170 on it. They were selling it for $20

Hi guys, Been really enjoying your videos and especially your thrifting for clubs. Your Thrift stores are what we call Charity shops over here in the UK. The howson brand was very good and I still own a full set of them. The set was a 16 piece starter set that was a birthday present I got a bag, 13 clubs (d, 3& 5w, 3iron to SW and a putter with a pull cart and umbrella all for around £80 (roughly $90) they have been the only clubs I own and continue to play with. (Well the Irons and PW and SW that is) Howson clubs are still around online like ebay and so on but are rare your side of the pond ^_^. My set is the Howson Derby, they are over-sized and super easy to hit with them having offset through the bag. I did have Howson GBH Attacker 21* Hybrid but the head broke off while on the range lol. if you come across any Howson's in the future, get them has you won't be disappointed :) keep up the great content
Wright and Ditson - got some history there. Sporting goods store in Boston in early 1900's, and Francis Ouimet, the 1913 US Open champ, had a job there.
Those Wright and Ditson clubs are pre 1940 vintage. They made clubs from the late 1800s to 1940 and were bought out by Spalding in the late 1920s or early 30s. I had a Wright Ditson putter that was similar to a wilson 8802 or whatever and used it for several years until it was stolen.
Wright & Ditson merged into Spalding,Howson were a British company producing mid-range golf equipment in the 80's/90's,'spoon' is not a make but the old equivalent to a modern 3-wood.
Golfcraft made some great putters. I used an el rio combo, my favorite putter. And I believe that Cary Middlecoff used the Troon Combo model to win a US Open....
I have 2 of the Arnold Palmer golf toys, we used to play at work , great fun and I should imagine quite collectible, there are other versions out there, not necessarily Palmer endorsed.👍⛳️

I would have grabbed all of those fitting irons putters and just about everything you find. In upstate New York I have yet to find anything more than some random knock off box set clubs.
